Chapter 97 - The Off-Book Asset

[The Vault of User 001 - Inside the Dyson Sphere]

The universe was still paused. Luna, Valerius, and the Praetorian Guards remained frozen like statues in the diamond plaza. Above them, the pixelated, blood-red sky flashed with the Board's [ERROR 404] warning.

But down on the ground, the rules had broken.

The Cosmic Auditor that Elena had shoved was convulsing. Its featureless white visor sparked with jagged red code. [WARNING: Unregistered Entity. Attempting Auto-Deletion...]

The Auditor raised a trembling, glowing hand toward Elena. A beam of raw, localized deletion-energy fired at her chest.

Alex's heart stopped.

The beam hit Elena. And then... it simply passed right through her, harmlessly striking the diamond floor behind her.

"What?" Elena blinked, looking down at her chest. She wasn't hurt. She didn't even feel warm.

[Deletion Failed. Target ID: Null. Cannot delete a file that does not exist.]

"They rely on the System to interact with reality," Alex realized, his Tycoon's Aura flaring brightly as he stepped forward. "Elena, you were built by the Genesis Crucible. You're running on Precursor hardware. To the God-Tycoon System, you are empty space. You are a ghost."

The other two Auditors floating in the sky finally reacted. "Manual override required," the second Auditor droned. "The Anomaly must be quarantined physically. Deploying localized gravity tethers."

[The Bearer Bond]

"Alex, what do I do?!" Elena panicked as the two remaining Auditors began descending, the air around them warping with intense gravitational pressure.

Alex couldn't fight. His System account was frozen. He had 0 GC. He was locked out of his own armory.

"In a Hostile Takeover, if your main accounts are frozen, you use off-book assets," Alex smiled coldly. He looked at the glitching, damaged Auditor writhing on the floor.

"Elena! Look at its chest!" Alex pointed. "When it glitched, its suit opened. There's a glowing golden core inside. That's its administrative ledger. Take it!"

"Take it?!" Elena stared at the terrifying, reality-bending cosmic entity.

"It can't touch you! You don't exist!" Alex ordered, his voice echoing with absolute authority. "Rob him!"

Elena took a deep breath. She wasn't a fighter, but she trusted Alex completely. She ran forward and plunged her bare hands directly into the chest of the glitching Cosmic Auditor.

The entity shrieked—a sound like grinding metal and dial-up static.

Elena pulled hard. With a sickening digital crunch, she ripped a glowing, rectangular golden slab out of the Auditor's chest. The moment the slab was removed, the Auditor dissolved into a pile of white, worthless pixels.

[The Offshore Account]

Elena ran back to Alex, holding the glowing slab. "What is this?" she asked, her hands shaking.

Alex couldn't touch it. The moment his finger neared the slab, his frozen System Interface flashed violently: [UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS. TIER-4 ASSET.]

"It's a Cosmic Bearer Bond," Alex's eyes widened in realization. "It's the Tier-4 currency the Board uses to fund their reality-warping. Universal Shares. But I can't deposit it. My account is locked."

Alex looked past Elena to the Genesis Crucible. The ancient Precursor forge was still humming, completely disconnected from the Board's network.

"Elena. The Crucible is an offline terminal. Slot the bond into the forge!"

Elena turned and slammed the golden slab directly into the center of the lotus-shaped diamond forge.

[The Margin Call]

The Genesis Crucible roared to life. It didn't flash with the System's red warnings; it glowed with ancient, blinding Precursor gold.

A new, decentralized interface projected directly into the air, bypassing Alex's locked God-Tycoon System entirely.

[Precursor Network: OFFLINE MODE INITIATED.] [Deposit Recognized: 10,000 Universal Shares (Board of Directors Class-A Equity).] [Current Decentralized Balance: 10,000 U-Shares.]

Alex threw his head back and laughed. It was the laugh of a predator who had just found the keys to the zoo.

"Auditors!" Alex yelled at the two remaining entities descending from the sky. "You froze my sector by buying the physics rights, didn't you? What is the current market cap of the localized gravity in this room?"

The two Auditors paused, their visors flashing in confusion.

[Precursor Terminal: Purchasing Localized Physics Rights...] [Expenditure: 5,000 U-Shares.]

A shockwave of golden energy exploded from the Crucible. The absolute silence of the room shattered. The wind returned. The red pixelated sky cracked.

Luna gasped, stumbling forward as her freeze broke. Valerius yelled, his plasma rifle finally discharging the shot he had fired a minute ago. The Praetorian Guards' optics flared back to life.

"Welcome back, team," Alex adjusted his cuffs.

The two Cosmic Auditors hit the ground hard, their gravity-manipulation suddenly failing.

"Unauthorized transaction!" one of the Auditors droned, attempting to raise its hand. "You cannot overwrite Board-level physics!"

"I didn't overwrite them," Alex said, walking slowly toward the fallen gods of capitalism, the Tycoon's Aura blazing around him. "I bought them. This room is my private property now. And you are trespassing."

Alex looked at Luna. "Luna. Kill them."
