Chapter 9 - My new home (9)

This was it. This was Sam's journey, off to a new planet. The moment his pod left Planet Vegeta's airspace, he felt a massive drowsiness overwhelm him.

Turns out that the mask that the unnamed Saiyan had up on his head had some type of drug to make him sleep. One second he was leaving the planet's atmosphere, and the next he found himself on land in his spaceship.

That was way too quick, he thought to himself. Removing the mask from his head, he looked around his spaceship for anything useful. On the screen, he saw the date February 3, age 731. He opened the compartment above and took out the rations left for him by the Saiyans.

He kept looking around for anything else useful until he saw a paper in another compartment below the spaceship dashboard. It only had one sentence written on it, "pod 792, password 497658." He unbuckled himself, took the rations and paper, and got out of the pod.

After closing the pod, he tried the password to see if it actually worked. He was pleased to find out it did. He locked it again and took flight to the skies.

He flew around the planet in three hours, taking in his temporary home.

Once he returned to his pod, he tried lifting it and realized he actually couldn't lift the pod. What the hell, I thought Saiyans were insanely strong. How come I can't lift a simple spaceship pod?

He went back in his spaceship looking for something. After a brief search, he grabbed a metal and plastic scouter with a triumphant smile.

Turning the scouter on, he turned it towards himself. It didn't even take two seconds before the reading appeared on the scouter: 12.

He looked at the number with great disappointment. "It seems like I have my work cut out for me; alright, meeting time," he said as he closed his eyes.

A few seconds later, he found himself in his mind space.

Laying on his side lazily while watching TV was Samuel. He had popcorn on the ground as he luxuriously picked and ate as if he were on a vacation.

"Hey, you lazy bum, we have work to do."

"Why are you here? Leave me alone."

"Did you not just see what our power level is out there? A merger 12, how the hell are we supposed to get past 530,000 in only six years?"

"Not my problem."

Getting tired of his BS, Sam went in front of him, blocking his view from the TV, but instead of getting annoyed, Samuel simply discarded the TV and manifested a VR helmet onto his face.

He had no care in the world right now; not even Sam could ruin his moment of peace.

Seeing as he was making no progress with his other half, Sam exited his mind and began pacing around. He was deep in thought once again.

I need to find out what planet I'm on. I need to know if the inhabitants are friendly towards aliens, and if they are, I need to learn whatever I can from them to increase my strength.

He concentrated his energy in his core, sent it below his feet, and pushed off.

Even though he was searching for means and ways to grow stronger, Sam had yet to realize that his profound understanding of life energy, better known as ki, is the only path he needed for strength.

He flew around looking for life forms. He remembered a certain populated area of aliens he passed on his earlier flight.

He increased his energy output, increasing his speed. Within the hour, he found the populated city.

Landing gracefully, the first thing Sam realized was that these little green creatures were not very tall. As a matter of fact, they were no taller than he, which is only three feet and two inches.

He approached one of them boldly and kindly as he asked, "Uhm, hello, do you understand me?" he asked with uncertainty.

The little green alien, who looked like a cute mini Namekian, looked at him like he had three heads. "Of course," it said, with the deepest manly voice he's ever heard; not even Shaq could outdo the little guy.

Slightly flustered and caught off guard, Sam readjusted himself as he continued to ask, "I don't want to sound rude, you see I'm new here; from a different planet and all. Is there a way you could take me to your planet's leader or chief, or I dunno; whatever you guys call them here?"

The green man-child looked at Sam for a second before gruffly saying, "Follow me." And follow him he did.

Looking around his environment as they walked along, Sam realized for the first time that there was not a single building in sight.

Everything was strictly plant and vegetation. Whatever houses he saw were either tree houses or houses carved out of giant mushrooms.

He continued following the strange green man, feeling oddly at home.

The atmosphere was better; it's like going from dirty oxygen to oxygen 2.0.

The air he was breathing felt illegal to breathe, but in the best way possible; it

felt too good to be true.

These are things Sam only realized now, as he wasn't deep in his thoughts; he seems to be the type to be easily distracted.

After an hour of walking without a sound between the two, the short man finally led him up to a gigantic tree.

Surrounding this tree were hundreds and hundreds of mini mushroom houses and a few tree houses.

People came and went, but no one dared to approach the enormous tree in the center. From the base of the tree going up to its shaft, and up to its center, was a delicate but strangely strong and sturdy carved-out staircase.

The tree itself wasn't just a bland green. No, it caught all the rays of sunlight and glistened in the colors of rainbows. The most vibrant of the colors was indeed green, but underneath that stemmed thousands of colors to be named and adored.

Sam was caught staring at the tree in a mesmerizing gaze. Just looking at the tree flooded him with such peace that he never wanted to close his eyes again.

"Hey, are you deaf?" the green man asked Sam for the third time.

He snapped out of his gaze and finally acknowledged the man. With tears in his eyes, he finally looked at the man and declared, "This, this will be my new home."
