Chapter 12 - Call me Broken Samuel; Wait Don’t do That

"Oh right, Ki," Samuel inputted sarcastically.

You've been using it this whole time, you one-brain-cell dumb ass.

"For once, I won't be mad that you called me a dumbass," Sam said, heading over to his bed.

He climbed up the vine frame of the bed and sat in a huge pile of leaves.

Pulling his legs together, he sat cross-legged and closed his eyes.

He began to focus on sensing his ki.

His goal as of now was to have immense ki control.

If he could practice to wield ki flexibility at a low power level, he could only imagine what he'd be capable of once he started physically training and gained battle experience.

Yes, that's right, he's decided that he'd actually use his brain.

Closing his eyes and sensing his ki, he realized that it was actually pretty easy for him to manipulate this energy.

The only thing that bothered him was the minuscule amount of ki he had.

According to the Dragon Ball series, the more he can do physically means the larger his ki reserves is.

But, above having a large amount of ki, is learning how to wield it properly.

He decided that he would learn how to wield all the ki he had currently, which wasn't much, before he started his physical training.

He got up off the bed and headed out to the main room. He didn't want anything to blow up accidentally due to his ki practices.

He realized that Lady Avena had left, probably went to get her kids, he thought.

He climbed down the tree, put on his shoes, and flew to the closest mountain in sight.

Landing at the foot of the mountain, he proceeded no further. He sat down in a lotus position and closed his eyes with focus.

"Why's the light off? What's that peaceful bastard doing?"

"Shut up, I need to focus."

"Turn the light back on, I want to see outside."

"Today marks the first day of my training, so do me a favor and stop talking."

"Tsk."

Samuel withdrew fully into the mind realm, which was now dark. He himself sat in a lotus position and also began to focus.

As he sat there, things began manifesting in the mind realm.

It was no longer void of things.

Samuel started putting his imagination to use.

First, it was a wall, then on the wall a switch appeared. Stemming from the feet of the wall was a floor of marble and brilliance. The floor began to expand out until the whole realm was filled with it.

After the floor was created, Samuel imagined more walls and beams, structures and furniture. All things at once, coming together to build a huge mansion.

After the mansion was created, Samuel got up and flipped the switch on. He had light again.

He sighed and went over to a couch he created earlier. Lying down, he grabbed a TV remote and popcorn off a glass table, which was positioned in front of a huge 8K flat-screen TV.

He began flipping through apps and landed on Netflix. Today, he decided, he was going to watch… Boruto.

As if. He scrolled past the show and put on Dragon Ball.

Back outside the mental space, Sam was training diligently. His eyes were closed as he was deeply focused on controlling his ki.

He could sense the small pool of life force in his core, and willed it to move.

He moved it quite easily and decided to just play with it. Yup, he was literally playing with the ki in his body.

His goal was to familiarize himself with the feeling of ki, so he could use it however and whenever he pleases.

Pushing the ki from one part of his body to the next, circulating the ki within himself seemed relatively easy, at least for him it did.

He decided to up the challenge a bit; he opened his eyes and looked at his right palm.

Concentrating on feeling ki without closing his eyes this time.

Studies showed that the fewer senses a person has to control, the more control they have of those senses.

His simple action of opening his eyes had widened his need for concentration.

From now on, he decided, whenever he would focus on controlling his ki, he would do so with his eyes wide open. After all, he couldn't fight with his eyes closed.

He looked at his palm and willed his ki to go there. It went there with a little more effort than before.

After concentrating some ki in his palm, he tried pushing it out. He realized with some struggle that it's not as easy as he thought it would be.

After a solid 10 minutes, the ki finally manifested in his palm, though not as a ki blast.

He looked at the little sphere of air in his hand, constantly swirling, but not exactly the bright blue or yellow ball of energy he was expecting.

Not feeling disheartened, he tried channeling more ki into his hand.

Ten minutes later, and he was drenched in sweat, and panting slightly.

Man, what the fuck? Why's this shit so hard?

"Maybe you just suck. Let me out, let me try." Sam didn't argue, but just watched instead.

Not even two minutes after trying to form a ki blast, Samuel manifested a bright blue orb.

Sam's mouth dropped in astonishment, and out of petty jealousy, he took control of the mouth just so he could do that.

"How'd you do that? What do you know that I don't?"

"I know how to actually use my brain."

"Stop playing around and just tell me."

"I don't want to. Why would I give you an edge over me?"

"Samuel, I know I didn't tell you this earlier, but I want you to know…."

"You're me and I'm yo—"

"OH SHUT THE HELL UP; you're not pulling that bullshit on me."

"Oh, so now it's bullshit, huh?"

"Fine, fine, I'll tell you. I'm just… stronger than you, smarter than you… I'm just better than you, Sammy. I'M BETTER!!"

"…"

"Call me Samuel the genius, call me broken Samuel, call me—oh wait, don't call me that; I don't want people thinking I have mental issues."
