Chapter 21 - War at Solaria - 2

Of course, Kinnarus wouldn't go down that easy. Maetel spoke that we would need aid from other people, aka, Jace and Jakob to take down Kinnarus. I really hope this won't be too long of a fight, I hate books with long drawn out fights. I get really bored reading them. I mean, unless the author knows how to put in detail and make a captivating fight scene, then sure. I'm just pretty sure that this fight will be annoying and would be boring to read as my guess is that Kinnarus will stall as long as they can.

The rift opened up above their head, horned pegasi flew out of it and aimed to trample my soldiers. Kinnarus retreated and church guards began teleporting in to aid their god in an escape. Auri raised her hand and behind the church guards, more of the undead began to take form. She began to shake and Seth knelt down and patted her back.

"Take it easy Auriana, don't strain yourself." Seth brushed her cheek with his thumb.

Auri looked up at him with her lip quivering. She sniffled, "Sorry momma."

Seth smiled gently, "Stay with Ryan, okay?" She nodded and Seth stood back up beside me. I met his eyes and he nodded once more.

Avalorne was restless in my mind, growling and I could feel him pacing. He was out for blood and wished to be released. I closed my eyes and smiled lightly. Go on. Let's hunt. Avalorne leaped from my body, his gigantic wolf form soaring high in the air over the church guards and aiming for Kinnarus.

Kinnarus slashed their hand in an arch and a beam of light shot up at Avalorne. 'Leave me alone! This is a war between humanity and a god, this is not your battle!'

'That line was crossed when you stole Maetel's godhood!' Avalorne snarled and darted out of the way of the blast. He landed and the ground shook a bit.

Kinnarus grit their teeth, 'It was never his to begin with! Where there is death, life is its counterpart. The laws of this world are flawed, you need me!'

Avalorne snarled, 'The origin of life may be absent, but you are not entitled to claim it.'

For how arrogant Avalorne is at most times, seeing him this way, really sheds a light on who he really is deep down. He does care! I swung my blade down and began to advance forward. Seth took out the Aetherials trying to stop me with quick precision. I could see Jace and Jakob holding off one of the church guards together. Jakob was laughing at Jace who was skidding back a bit from the force of the Aetherial's blade. Jace snapped at him and Jakob swung a kick at the Aetherial guard and the guard staggered.

I blocked an incoming attack directed at my back and parried them, flicking my sword up staggering the enemy. I spun and slashed my sword horizontally, sending them to the ground. I turned again and side stepped as another guard tried shaking me from the side. God damn, is it kill the Prince of Valoria for free sandwiches? I stepped back and the Aetherial started flickering with Fulminis. Oh… I hate Aetherials who know what they are doing with their powers, especially the people with the gift of Fulminis. I jumped back as a blast of lightning narrowly singed my clothes. I side stepped again as another one hit down. For tight quarters, they're very precise to not hit their own people.

BOOOM!

Okay, now this is getting repetitive. I tapped into my authority and a fissure opened up underneath their feet and they fell. I heard them yell in surprise and I made sure they didn't fall too far to get hurt. I backflipped as another person took their place. I drop kicked the Aetherial. Seth grabbed me by the shoulder and legit dragged me from behind.

"Stop entertaining them, your Highness." He said a bit annoyed. I heard the clash of metal and he then paused and let me go.

I turned around and I saw Lucas between the two gods, blocking the two of them with his hands. He was blazing a bright white and gold light. Avalorne's eyes were narrowed and Kinnarus was slowly fracturing away and melting into their original form. Lucas' eyes were closed as he was trying to hold them both back. What is that priest thinking?!

'Are you dumb?!' Kinnarus yelled in a distorted voice. 'If I die, you die with me.'

Lucas bit his lip, "I don't care! Likewise, if I die, you die with me." Lucas managed to force Kinnarus back. His eyes opened and he grinned, his eyes were baby blue. "Lucas gave me permission to take hold of his body, which means. He's not connected to you."

Kinnarus scrambled back and hissed, 'Why are you here?'

Lucas smiled brightly, "I'm here to see you off."

Seth absently deflected an attack. The fighting seemed to slowly settle. Everyone was fixated on the sheer force coming not from just one, but three gods. Anyone would be a bit unsettled from the disturbance and vision of three deities in one place. The age of gods no longer exists, this current setting is as if it was out of a fantasy novel.

Lucas's body was emanating a pure white light. He unfolded his arms and sighed, gesturing. "Look you two. We could keep fighting and have Valoria kill most of your guards, or we could just talk this out."

No… not the talking. ANYTHING but negotiating! I grabbed my head and made a silent scream. Seth looked at me and smiled a bit.

'Avalorne's successor does not understand the ancient negotiation techniques we gods do.' Kinnarus turned their head and snorted.

'You're not a god.' Avalorne and Lucas said together in unison.

Kinnarus dead pans, 'I'm closer to divinity than the other minor gods.'

'You stole it from Maetel, so that makes you a false god and more of a fake.' Avalorne laughed.

Kinnarus stayed silent.

"So, do you want to negotiate or not?" Lucas turned to Kinnarus.

Kinnarus dropped their gaze, 'No matter what I say, I know it's my end. ■■■■■■■■ has already cast their gaze in this direction. It's inevitable for me to continue to live on Lunoris.'

Lucas raspberries and spluttered, "All of this push back and for what? For you to give up?" He pinched the bridge of his nose, "This is really anti climatic if you think about it and-"

'Oh? Are you exposing that the future you saw is not what you foresaw at this very moment? Is the god of fate and destiny losing their powers?' Kinnarus laughed.

Lucas froze, his face was in shock. People began to murmur.

'Am I right?' Kinnarus grinned.

Lucas's facials turned into rage and anger, "Don't spread any more lies, fraud."

I looked at Avalorne and he too was staring at Maetel in shock. There must be something going on. Lucas bristled even more and glared.

'Oh god of destiny, you're also subject to Their powers. You can feel it. Darkness will soon swallow this word. The very world that They sought to protect, will soon crumble at their own hands. There is no salvation or saving for this world. Everything I've done for these past fifty years was all for humanity. If you wish to not believe me, that's okay.' Kinnarus closed its eyes and began to fade. 'I longed to stand by their side even at their last moments and I wished I could have supported them like you two did all those many years ago. I hope that their return is as glorious as the prophecy has said.'

Kinnarus faded away into light shards and got swept away by the wind. I stood there with Seth and he was staring at Lucas. People were already beginning to recover from shock. The Solarian guards began turning back to their opponents. I braced myself for an oncoming attack. Avalorne vanished and Lucas was being pushed back by the Solarian guards.

"I'm… I'm not an imposter!" Lucas yelled. His eyes were back to teal, meaning Maetel had left his body and he was defenseless.

"Seth, protect Lucas!" I shouted.

Seth nodded and began charging and barreling down people to get to Lucas. I swung my blade and sighed. I guess this fight scene wasn't so B tier, more like A minus tier. Got some weird lore pieces, I mean if you could count that as lore and well, the false god didn't detonate like past gods have done out of rebellion for their death. I slowly advanced toward Seth and Lucas.

Seth was keeping Lucas's pursuers at bay. Lucas was yelling at the Church guards in Solarian. He didn't sound too happy. I stepped over to Seth and smiled at him then looked at the guards.

"Listen fellows, IF you had enough common sense back there, you would know that your "god" was posing as your High Priest." I folded my arms.

"Pfft, what if our High Priest was actually our god all along." One of them responded.

Oh. Well, I definitely did not think about that. Gosh, what kind of Monarch am I? Seth whisked his head back as an arrow flew past his cheek, nicking it. Seth narrowed his eyes and touched his cheek, he was bleeding, but it wasn't the normal color of red. It was gold.
