Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: In the cave

After Lilia and I were kidnapped, they took us into a dark cave. Well, it was my first time entering a cave; I used to hear about them in the stories I read or were read to me, but I didn't think my first time would be like this.

I didn't know what was happening or why we had been kidnapped. I only thought about what the master said about us being followed. That was the only thing that came to mind. But seriously, what did we do to those people?

(Inside the cave, which was the kidnappers' hideout)

—Let's go to where the kids are.

—Right away, Boss.

After a while, a man appeared in front of us. I didn't know who he was either, though I doubt he knows who I am. Because if he did, I don't think he would've done this.

—Are these the two kids?

.—Yes, sir.

—Good, good, good.

—Well kids, maybe you're wondering why we kidnapped you, but don't worry so much, I'll tell you.

Anyone else would be worried and asking about their master, but not me. Because I already know how powerful that old man is. But whatever, I'll ask about him anyway.

—Where's the master? Where is he?

—Hm, you mean that old man? Who knows.

—What did you do to the master?

(Lilia in her mind) —Why is Aito getting so worked up about Grandpa? He knows Grandpa is really strong, and that giant snake and those men who showed up can't do anything to him. Is he pretending to worry so he doesn't alert these people? I should go along with it too.

(crying in pain) —Grandpa, Grandpa… why did you let those men kidnap us?! Why?!

(Aito in his mind) —Wait, why is SHE crying? She more than anyone should know nothing will happen to that guy, so why is she crying?

(Aito in his mind) —Wait, maybe it's because she was already shaken by that beast's sudden attack and then we got kidnapped. Maybe that's why she's like this… I should console her.

—Lilia, please calm down a bit, okay? I'm here with you.

(Aito in his mind) —Even though I said that, I can't do much. At best I could take down three or four of them. But I can't just let her stay like this either. My older sister would never just ignore something like this.

—Come on, please calm down.

—Okay Aito, I'll try… but Grandpa…

—Enough already, brats. Shut your mouths.

(crying harder) —How dare you tell me to shut up when YOU kidnapped us?!

What do I do now—cry too? No! I was already consoling her, backing down now would make it worse.

—Lilia, come on, calm down.

—These brats won't shut up. I was going to tell you why I kidnapped you, but now I won't. I'll make you shut up my way.

As soon as he said that, he pulled out a knife and walked toward us, when suddenly a loud crash echoed through the cave. I already knew who it was, but I didn't think he'd arrive so fast—he already defeated the serpent and these men too.

—Wha… what was that?!

—Hahahaha, he finally arrived.

—Wha… who arrived?!

—Who else do you think? Grandpa, obviously.

—Impossible… he can't get here that fast. That's impossible.

—For someone else it would be impossible, but for that old man, it's not.

—Then all that worrying and crying was fake?!

—What can I say… I guess so.

—Hahahaha… so I kidnapped a steel wall, huh? Wait—what am I saying? Why did I even kidnap you in the first place?!

He tried to walk toward us after saying that, when suddenly a murderous aura filled the cave. An overwhelming presence. The entire space of the cave became one with it—like pouring water into a sealed container with no empty space left. That's how it felt. And the man couldn't even move.

—T-this pressure… n-no way… I'm gonna die—

Before he could finish, his head was already separated from his body and blood splashed onto my face.

"AAAAAAA—!" (Aito) Y-you… you killed him…

Well… it was the first time a human had died in front of me. And on top of that, his blood had splashed onto my face…
