Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: A Real Sword

The next day we woke up and almost at the same time we greeted each other.

"Good morning, Aito."

"Good morning, Lilia. Good morning, Master."

The sunlight came in through the window in the room, illuminating everything inside. Then we went downstairs and, just as I thought, it really had been a fight judging by the noise I heard last night. Everything was a mess, broken tables and chairs everywhere.

"Good morning, sir. What can I get you?"

"Give us something light to eat."

"Wait here, let me set up a table for you."

"No, don't worry. We'll eat upstairs."

"Alright then, let me prepare your order."

After they served us our meal, we went upstairs to eat, since there was nowhere left to sit downstairs. There was no training today, so we planned to explore the town thoroughly and see what it had to offer.

And so, after eating, we went back downstairs and left the tavern, and as soon as we opened the door we felt the heat of the sun on our faces. So we moved right away to start exploring the town. There were a lot of people in that town, and they were much friendlier than the ones from the other town.

So we started exploring. There were many children there, very cheerful, and they reminded me of when I used to play with my sister. Speaking of that, I missed them so much… we should send a letter.

So I wrote a letter to Mother, saying that I was doing well today, that the first days had been hard but Master was there, and that I had fought against many beasts and become stronger. I told my sister, my brother Eliel, and Father not to worry so much about me because I was fine. Then Master sent the letter.

After that, we focused on exploring the town more deeply.

Along the way, Master went to buy the sword he had promised me, but he didn't tell me that I had to pay with my own money. He should've told me, "Hey Aito, you shouldn't use that sword anymore, buy a new one," instead of promising something he wasn't going to fulfill.

I didn't have enough funds, since I didn't take much money from the palace, and on top of that I had lost many coins. So I couldn't pay for the sword. When the merchant saw that, he asked the old man to pay, but the old man refused.

"Hey Aito, if you want I can lend you mine."

"No way, girl. How could you lose your money?"

"But Grandpa! And the sword?"

"You'll figure out how to get it."

"!!!! Well… if you want it so badly, why don't you do something for me in exchange? Or better said, since he doesn't want to pay, the kid could do something for me, since he wants a sword. That means he can use mana, right?"

"That's right."

"As you can see, I can't use mana, so I can't do much. But there are some beasts roaming the land I own outside the town, in the forest. I'd like you to take care of them."

"Well, I guess that brat can handle it."

"Then I'll be counting on you."

After that, we all headed to those lands and I took care of the beasts. They were easy to defeat, but I didn't defeat them all right away.

When I finished, I received my sword. It was my first real sword, so I was happy. Happy because I finally had a sword, and because with one I could train much more intensely.

"You did it, Aito! Now you have your sword, so you can train more!"

"That's true."

After that, the old man thanked me and we left. It was the first time I talked to someone who couldn't use mana. Well then… now that I have a sword, I have to train even harder…
