Chapter 9 - To stay or not to stay...

[You have become the owner of the Death Seesaws Dungeon.]

[You have decided not to imprint the dungeon onto your partial domain yet.]

[The Death Seesaws Dungeon will become inactive and remain a part of the H134-D4 World.]

As soon as Azrael decided, the system window responded, handing him ownership without altering the dungeon, just deactivating it. The gravity fields evaporated. The seesaws went still, becoming safe tiles. Even the light drained from the small but eventful dungeon.

Only the silver and bronze chests still shone, but even their glow eventually faded.

"We'll discuss everything back at your house," Mary said.

Azrael nodded. "Yeah."

He stole one last glance at the unconscious red-haired woman before leaving. The same vortex door appeared beside him and gobbled him up, spitting him onto the floor.

Mary came out second and drifted over to her sofa. She folded her umbrella, then turned serious.

"Like I said before, a Lord's strength lies in their domain and servants. You have received a partial domain, something you can build into your own. Later, it will become one with my creator's main domain if you become the Third Lord.

"You now own a dungeon. Once you imprint it, you can bring it to your domain and enrich your land with it. That alone is an immensely valuable asset, and it raises your standing by a significant margin. Even if you do not become the Third Lord, you'll still be highly sought after by whoever becomes the new one, as well as by others.

"But power like this comes with severe consequences…" Mary trailed off.

Azrael nodded. "Yeah… they're beautiful but foreign. If I can't speak their language, how am I supposed to tame them and have fun later on?"

Click!

Mary unfolded her umbrella with a loud click.

Hearing that noise, Azrael scrambled onto his chair and waved his hands. "I know, I know! We're invading others! You said it before! Owning this dungeon means I now have an open door to another world! H1… whatever! Don't get angry at me, Mary! You're my most precious treasure!"

"Sweet words aren't enough," Mary replied, her cheeks puffed and slightly reddened.

"I think I need to find a way to learn her language," Azrael began.

Mary's glare pierced him.

He smiled. "So I can learn more about the new world! Earth doesn't have to worry about dungeons and monsters because of the Lords. But other worlds might not be the same!"

Mary could follow his logic. "Yes. But first, go take care of your nose. You sound like a clown. Don't forget to take a bath and take a nap. We'll discuss your next moves and your new skill after you wake up and get something to eat."

"Yes, Mom!"

"Idiot!"

In the Death Seesaws Dungeon, the alien woman's eyes snapped open. She gasped for breath as though she'd just woken up from a nightmare. She pressed a hand to her chest, wincing as pain flared through her arms.

Where am I? Where's that monkey?

The memory of that monkey, leaping from one spot to another, hit her all at once. He'd stolen her treasure and used some kind of skill to leave her helpless. While she lay there, the monkey had even stolen her first kiss and dared to shove his tongue into her mouth.

Our people and our world are dying, and he's fooling around!

Punching him for being such a fool had felt oddly satisfying, but not nearly enough. He needed a few more punches, at least, for being such a monkey.

Thinking about him sent her into a fury, and she clenched her hands tighter, making them ache worse by the second.

He took the main reward, so I should've been spat out from the dungeon… but I remember this floor. It's the same dungeon I entered. The Death Seesaws Dungeon. My spear should be somewhere, unless he stole it.

Carefully, despite the pain, the woman groped around until her fingers closed on her spear.

That confirmed it. She was still within the dungeon.

But why? It's a challenge dungeon. It should've disappeared by now. Instead, it's deactivated. If I want to leave…

[Would you like to leave the Death Seesaws Dungeon?]

I…

Strangely, she didn't want to. Something in her screamed that leaving would be a loss, and she understood why. Never in her life had she seen a deactivated dungeon.

A difficult choice pressed down on her shoulders.

To stay or not to stay…

After thinking hard, she decided.

BANG!

The red-haired woman slammed her spear into the floor, driving its tip deep into the floor. Now, even if she wanted to, she wouldn't be able to pull it out easily to retaliate.

And now, I wait… for monkey!

She sat down and waited.

He didn't speak the common language. Must be from far away. What if he came with a foreign delegation?

And waited…

If he's someone important, I might be in trouble. But he attacked me first!

And waited…

Her stomach grumbled, the blood on her skin crusted over, and time seemed to stretch into eternity… but she waited anyway.

Can't you fucking come back already?! I'm hungry! I smell like shit! I want to sleep. And I'm so boreeeeeeeed! Come back, monkeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey!

Meanwhile, somewhere in another world.

"See, Mary? I told you this anime is peak!"

"Mm. The popcorn's nice, too."

"Ha! Yeah, right?"
