3:59 AM
Rose had the same nightmare again.
The same suffering she'd experienced the day before returned: extreme exhaustion and anxiety. The next day, it happened again, and the day after that, it happened again.
Again. And again. And again. This went on for a week. Rose fell asleep from sheer exhaustion, even though she didn't want to. She woke up at 3:59 AM because of the same nightmare. After this ordeal, Rose's face was pale and tired, she had dark circles under her eyes, and her lips were chapped. She had gone from cheerful Rose to miserable Rose. Rose had changed! Her parents noticed and asked her what was wrong, but Rose didn't want to say anything. She was afraid they would think she was crazy.
Her parents were worried about her mental state,
and suggested sending her to a psychiatrist.
They told her this, but she agreed and went to the psychiatrist. She wanted to know what was happening to her.
Rose entered, looking depressed, and sat down. The doctor said, "Welcome." The first thing Rose said, her voice filled with anxiety, was, "Don't tell my family!" The doctor was slightly surprised, but said calmly, "Okay, Rose, don't worry." Then he asked, "Would you like to talk about what you're going through?" She said with difficulty and anxiety, "I'm having recurring, terrifying nightmares. I can't sleep normally. I feel so tired. It's a recurring nightmare."
The doctor, saddened and surprised by what Rose had said, asked, "When did these nightmares start?" Rose replied, "Eight days ago. I'm so exhausted." The doctor asked, "Rose, can you describe these nightmares to me?" Rose spoke at length, her voice filled with anxiety.
"I feel like something is haunting me, I don't know what it is. It keeps repeating in my ear, 'You are the Chosen One.' It terrifies me."
"Every time I wake up, my heart races, and I feel terrified." I find it incredibly difficult to fall back asleep. I hate sleep and don't want to go to bed. But then, suddenly, I feel so tired that I drift off again. When I wake up from the same nightmare,
I look at the clock; it's 3:59 a.m.
The doctor was surprised. He'd never seen a case like this before.
"Calm down, Rose," he said. "I think it's just the stresses of life." "But I've never been like this before," Rose said. "My life has always been happy."
"Doctor, I'm so exhausted," Rose pleaded. "Please help me get rid of this, please!" The doctor, who seemed powerless to help Rose, said, "I'll prescribe some painkillers, and I hope you'll feel better and that this won't happen again." Rose was disappointed that he clearly hadn't found a solution. But she trusted him and took the painkillers, hoping it wouldn't happen again and that she could finally sleep peacefully. But it was all in vain.
