"It all began not too long ago...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Giovanni line of assassins were known in the underworld for their talents. They were trained to kill both friends or foe. Their job was to get a clean job done no matter who the target was. Due to their specialty, they themselves became preys instead of hunters.
Antonio Giovanni had three daughters;Jewel, Jane and Joanne. They were the pride of the remaining Giovanni line.
Antonio Giovanni was a very skilled assassin who went anywhere around the world as long as his services were needed.
His three daughters were his treasures and he adored them. However, he didn't want them to live the kind of life that he lived. He wanted something more for them. A life outside of Mafian wars. A life of purpose.
Fate however, decided otherwise. Antonio Giovanni was murdered during one of his missions. It turned out that it was a trap. He walked calmly towards his death. The Mafian Lords who had grown terrified of his ability decide to end him and if possible end his family line.
His body was sent back to his family. His wife, Anna Giovanni wept bitterly at the sight of her husband and swore vengeance. That same night, Jewel who was about eighteen years was rapped by one of the Mafian Lord. Her innocence was taken right in front of fifteen year old Jane and ten year old Joanne. Her cries tore throughout the night while the Mafian Lords watched and laughed as though they were watching performers perform a good show live.
After that night, things never remained the same. Jane swore to avenge her sister and father at all cost. She was the closest to her late father and had many a times watched him as he trained. Tears rushed down her face whenever she remembered how she used to beg him to train her.
"I don't want this life for you, my princess," he would always say.
"What is wrong with this life?" She would ask, her face bubbling with innocence and curiosity. "You are strong, feared and powerful. I want to be like you, Papa."
Her father would reach out and smooch her hair. No reply. And that was how the conversation always ended.
No more.
Seeing the determination in her daughter, Anna decided to train her. She herself was a skilled assassin. Jane went through all the rigorous training alone and with full confidence that the trainings won't break her but make her stronger.
Jewel wanted nothing to do with that life. Besides, she was pregnant. So each day, she just lived; her face always heavy as though she carried the gloom of the world.
Joanne wanted nothing to do with her heritage too. So her mother arranged for her to travel overseas where she stayed with an aunt who oversaw her.
Jane however, was never one to quit and her efforts paid off.
One after the other, she murdered each Mafian Lord that had a hand in the death of her father. It was really brutal. She mercilessly took their life and left without leaving a trace that would lead anything back to her.
As for the Mafian Lord's son who was responsible for her sister's condition, she made him suffer a fate worse than death.
First, she made sure to remove his nails from his fingers and toes. Then she cut off his tongue. Each day, she found something to cut off. She was past caring now. All she wanted was revenge.
Alas, Jewel died while giving birth to Daisy. It was an emotionally heart breaking moment for the already shattered family.
That night, Jane finally killed the man she held in her cabin who was responsible for all these in the first place.
After Jewel was buried, Daisy was taken to an orphanage home, so as not to raise unnecessary suspicion from those who were still after the eradication of the Giovanni line.
Jane however, was much more heartbroken than any one. She would look at herself in the mirror with so much hatred. She regretted not training earlier on in life. Nono of these would have happened if she was strong enough, she told herself. She felt like she failed the very family she was supposed to protect.
Her hatred for herself was so heavy that she decided to commit suicide.
That fateful day, she drove to a waterfall that she had always admired. She planned to end her life there but fate had other plans. Just as she was about to take her life, she heard a soothing voice behind her.
"You carry so much hatred and anger within you. After everything you have gone through, everything you worked for and sacrificed, is this really the end?"
She turned abruptly.
"Who are you?"
The person chuckled lightly.
"I'm Ferguson. And I know who you are. Jane Giovanni."
Jane scoffed.
"You do realize that with just one pull at my gun, you would be dead right?"
"I know, and I also know that you won't kill me."
"What makes you so sure?"
"What makes me sure? That's really funny though," he smiled. "I'm sure because I can see through you. I can feel your pain and I know how much you are hurting."
"You know nothing about me."
"Maybe. But I might end up getting to know you more."
There was silence for a full minute.
"Who sent you?"
"See? Now, that's what I'm talking about. Not everyone or everything revolves around the Mafian world."
"Sadly, that's the only world I know."
"No, my darling, that's the only world you choose to know." He smiled again, then beckoned on her. "Come sit." He tapped the space beside him. "Don't worry, I won't try anything funny. I know what you are capable of." He joked.
Jane relaxed and went to sit beside him.
"You know, you can release all the anger and hatred you are carrying inside you to the wind. Let all your worries flow away."
