Well, well. Look who we have here." A voice sneered.
Jasmine turned abruptly and right in front of her was Mrs Elena Bryan-Hills.
The two guards immediately rushed forward to stand beside Jasmine while the remaining eight who stood guard outside were denied entrance by Mrs Elena's thugs.
"If it isn't our pregnant Jasmine."
"What do you want?" Jasmine asked with a defiant look on her face.
"Come on, sweetheart, I'm not here to fight you. You barely have the energy to dodge a hit. I'm here to talk."
"We have nothing to talk about."
"Of course not but then, shall we?"She asked as she pointed towards a table which has two chairs beside it. Jasmine scoffed inwardly. When was this prepared?
Mrs Elena walked towards the table and beckoned on Jasmine to follow her. The guards immediately expressed concern but Jasmine assured them she would be fine. She walked up and sat down while the two guards stood behind her.
"Now, let's have a civilized conversation."
"What could we possibly talk about? You already know I'm pregnant and I know you hate me. So what's new?"
"I want you to leave my son alone."
"I can't and even if I wanted to, which I don't, I'm carrying his child."
"Abortion doesn't take much time." Mrs Elena smirked.
"Really?" Jasmine was surprised." You want me to abort your first grandchild. How absurd can you be?"
"You are endangering my son's life."
"No," Jasmine shook her head." You are the danger here. Your son is free to choose whatever life he want and whoever he wants to spend it with. Your sick obsession of wanting to control him is driving me crazy."
A dark smile formed on Mrs Elena's lips.
"Guess someone is now acting brave and tough."
"I know I'm not dying today. That's even reason to air my mind."
"You know, Jasmine. I always get what I want. No matter how long it takes. And don't you think for a second that I would be hesitant when it comes to taking your life. I've taken lives of more value than yours."She leaned forward and smirked. "But what's the fun in taking your life now? I would take the life of everyone you cherish and make you suffer. That's right. Your mum and that girl…. Yeah, Daisy. It wouldn't take me a second to squash life out of them."
"Leave them alone."
"Leave my son alone."
"Why are you doing this?" Jasmine asked helplessly. "Why do you hate me so much?"
"I have nothing against you. You just don't belong in our world." Mrs Elena said and stood up. She adjusted her dress and turned to look at Jasmine. "I've said my piece. If you know what's good for you, abort that baby and stay away from my son, unless you want me coming after you."
"And if I don't ?" Jasmine asked defiantly.
"Well," Mrs Elena shrugged. "Do you know what always happens when the fire of Mafian wars start burning? Both the innocent and guilty get burnt. The casualties are always high; more of the innocent though. "
"I don't understand."
"If you don't do as I say, you are igniting a war and it would be so bad because eventually, you would be on the losing side. Your corpse, more appropriately with those of your beloved as entourage." She smiled briefly and turned to walk out.
She met with Davidson as she got to the door. Apparently, one of the guards outside had called him.
"Hello son."
"What did you do, Mum?"
"Nothing yet. But I'm sure Jasmine would give you my warm regards." She said and walked away.
Davidson dashed inside to behold Jasmine who was sitting still like someone who just saw a ghost.
"Are you alright? Did she hurt you?" He asked frantically.
Jasmine who was still overwhelmed with what just happened could only shake her head. Davidson drew close and embraced her. "Let's go home."

For days after that encounter, Jasmine couldn't think straight. Her visions blurred and she often felt weak. She couldn't tell if it was sign of her early trimester or the fear that kept gnawing in her heart.
Davidson noticed and as usual, he did all he could to dissuade her fears.
"Look, I know my mum. She is just trying to make you look scared. I'm sure ewe would scale through this unharmed."
"Davidson, not matter what happens, I can't change the fact that you still remain her child…."
"And so? I now have a responsibility and that's towards you and my unborn child."
"Still…"
"I'm a man of my words. Be rest assured, I hope it never comes to a point where I have to choose between my mum and you but if it does, I won't hesitate to choose you. You mean the world to me, Jasmine. I only started feeling alive when I met you. Please, I need you to be strong. For me. For our unborn child."

"How is she doing?" Jayden asked.
"She is tensed."
"I understand. Not everyone survives a first time one on one encounter with your mother."
"Honestly, I don't know what to do. The worst part is that I know that she is watching my every move. She is like a ticking time bomb. Waiting for when to go off."
"I know but you need to be strong. The Clan isn't as it used to be without you. I can't even go to the estate anymore because I won't want to compromise Daisy's safety. I'm also been followed you know."
Davison gave it and thought. "Why don't you and Daisy move here? It would do Jasmine some good to have Daisy around and as for you, I'm not ready to lose you. I'm not taking chances and the best place for you is beside me."
"Thanks man." Jayden said and they hugged. "That reminds me. Why don't you talk to your dad? He is still Mr Bryan-Hills and no matter how wild your mother might be, I think he might be the only one that knows how to put the reins on her."
"Thanks man, I'll do just that. Set up a meeting with him."
