After our brief morning reprieve, we finally started getting ready for the not-so-long journey to the distant land of Zen.
Allen had grumbled the entire time, his face set in a deep, perpetual scowl as he marched out to the courtyard to order the head guards to prepare our grand royal carriage.
Even while weaving his high level magic to make us two brand new, jaw droppingly gorgeous silk robes for the engagement, making sure mine was fully high collared, long-sleeved, and completely modest to cover every single inch of my skin, he complained continuously under his breath. He muttered about how political events were a complete waste of precious time, how royalty from other lands possessed zero manners, and how he would much rather spend the evening pinning me against our headboard.
I stayed right by his side the entire time trying to pacify him as much as I could.
