Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Codename: Kaiser

So that was it.

The Boss was indeed coveting the Six Eyes. However, it seemed he only knew that Satoru Gojo possessed the Six Eyes; he had no idea about the nearly invincible "cheat" ability known as the Limitless.

It made sense. If the Boss knew such a time-bomb existence was right next to him, he'd probably have his "dear foster son" taken out immediately. He wouldn't be able to sleep without one eye open, terrified that Gojo might teleport in and assassinate him.

"A few years ago, I originally planned to send you back to Japan to reunite with your father, but I didn't expect that before that could happen, he..."

The Boss trailed off with a long sigh.

"I was deeply saddened by his passing. It was because of his departure that I began seeking a way to avoid death... Fortunately, through various means, I learned the truth about the Pandora Gem."

"I need you, Satoru." It sounded sincere, almost heartfelt.

But could a man this ruthless—someone who had built an entire criminal empire—really believe Gojo would trust him completely based on "gratitude for raising him"? Gojo suspected his parents' deaths weren't entirely natural. Given the Boss's fanatical pursuit of longevity, if the Six Eyes of a dead man were still functional, Gojo would likely have had his eyes gouged out long ago.

Or did the Boss have some kind of leverage to keep him in check even if he rebelled?

Forget it, forget it. Why overthink it?

Come what may, I'll deal with it then.

I'm just that confident.

"To obtain that gem, any means necessary will be permitted. Satoru, do you understand?"

Gojo lowered his gaze, the clear blue of his eyes as deep as a clouded mist. Karasuma continued.

"I once considered letting you live out your life in peace, away from such danger. But you have been different since you were a child; you were never meant to be ordinary, nor did you wish to be."

"It is a gift from the gods, and I have proven it."

To hone his "foster son's" abilities, he had thrown Gojo onto an island to slaughter others. The results showed everyone that he hadn't lost the gamble. The boy would be the strongest trump card in his hand.

As a foster father, he wouldn't restrict Satoru too much. As long as Satoru remained loyal and did what was required, he would be well-treated.

"Go, my child. Use your extraordinary talent to seize eternity for me."

"From this day forward, your codename is—"

"Kaiser."

Kaiser, as in Kaiser beer, also known as Kaiserwin.

A traditional German dark beer with a rich wheat aroma, a delicate, mellow texture, and a slightly tart finish. It didn't quite seem to fit Gojo's personal style; he had expected the Boss to give him a sweet cocktail name.

However, the similar pronunciation immediately brought to mind the founder of the Roman Empire, Gaius Julius Caesar. It certainly sounded domineering. Such a heavy codename might make an ordinary member tremble with fear.

But it suited Satoru Gojo's appetite perfectly. After all, this was the man capable of looking down on the world and uttering the ultimate boast: "Throughout Heaven and Earth, I alone am the honored one."

"The plan to seize the Pandora Gem... I have named it 'Caelum' (Sky)."

Hmm... how to put it? A bit cheesy, a bit chuunibyou.

Boss, you're a kindred spirit after all.

"I will frequently inquire about the progress of this plan. So, Satoru... no, Kaiser, I hope you do not disappoint me." Renya Karasuma's favorite crow flapped its wings, shedding a single pitch-black feather.

"Sounds like something that won't be boring."

Regardless of the messy thoughts swirling in his mind, Gojo listened to the Boss's speech and let a look of keen interest cross his face. He replied in his usual cynical tone, "Fine, I accept."

1000 points. Not bad, not bad.

"If there are any special circumstances, contact me directly via email..."

The old man recited a string of numbers, which Gojo memorized instantly.

"Yes. Also, there are a few other things I need you to do."

After the Boss explained the general arrangements for Gojo's immediate future, he seemed physically weary. He waved his hand, signaling the end of the conversation. Then, he terminated the video, and the computer screen went pitch black.

Gojo didn't linger. He walked out of the room, his mind racing as he processed the mountain of information he'd just received. When he emerged, the four people in the living room immediately focused their attention on him.

"Satoru, you were in there for quite a while. I suppose the Boss missed you since he hasn't seen you in so long." Tequila tried his best to look kind, but his features weren't exactly built for "good guy" expressions, and being dressed in all black didn't help.

Looking at the expressions of the others, they likely knew about his relationship with "That Gentleman" by now. To an outsider, seeing the Boss value him so much might make them think Gojo was being groomed to take over the Organization one day.

"Inside the Winery: The Overbearing Boss and His Rebellious Foster Son."

The thought of such a strange title popped into his head.

Yikes... got the chills.

"Ah, you could say that." Gojo shrugged. "By the way, aren't you guys hungry? The Boss said the maids could prepare a meal."

At those words, everyone visibly brightened.

However, Tequila was focused on a more important question: "And your codename?"

"Kaiser. It suits me, right~?"

Sake let out a "Wow," looking appropriately impressed. Calvados looked a bit envious. Tequila sighed, "The Boss truly holds you in high regard."

If the Organization was a country, That Gentleman was undoubtedly the Emperor standing at the peak.

And a country... can it have two kings?

Gojo: Good income today~

Gin raised an eyebrow but offered no comment.

Afterward, the manor's master chefs prepared a lavish feast, including various Italian desserts that Gojo loved. Sadly, there was still no sign of his long-awaited Daifuku.

Gojo thought to himself that he definitely had to find time to go to Japan. Otherwise, it would be a disservice to his stomach. Still, the Boss's maids were impressive; their cooking skills were maxed out. It was far more delicious than the food on the island.

The others didn't dare to be too reckless in the Boss's residence; they all ate slowly and refinedly. Only Gojo ate with increasing joy, a mountain of cakes and pastries piling up on his table, pink flower auras practically floating around him.

Listening to the Boss speak had burned too many brain cells. Energy levels low—it was time to recharge!
