Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Operation: Defeat Satoru Gojo!

Satoru Gojo took a stroll around the villa and observed it with his Six Eyes. He found that while the place was luxurious and comfortable, it actually lacked any real entertainment facilities.

Swimming pool, study, gym, training ground... All of them were crossed off his list.

What is true entertainment? Of course, it's something that has nothing to do with the obsession of self-improvement—something purely for the sake of happiness and fun!

If it weren't for the fact that introducing smartphones at the current level of technology would be too strange, he would have wanted to buy one for each person in the System Mall to let them experience the ultimate time-killer of modern humans.

Hmm... what else could possibly attract them?

Gojo spent a long time browsing the mall and rummaging through his inventory. He found it.

Cupping his hands around his mouth like a microphone, he said mysteriously, "Come to my room later. I've got a treasure to show you."

Gin looked at him with dead-fish eyes, expecting absolutely nothing. However, when he saw the room filled with piles of various manga books from nowhere, a large computer, and several Famicom-style controllers connected to it via data cables, he couldn't help but be a little surprised.

How did this kid find these? Does Vermouth even buy stuff like this?

The other two clearly didn't overthink it. Having been out of touch with the outside world for so long, seeing these things made them naturally curious.

Gojo didn't care about their suspicions. People—well, everyone has their little secrets. Even if Gin suspected something, he wasn't afraid. If asked, the answer was simply that the Boss doted on his "foster son" so much that he had prepared all the toys he wanted long ago.

(Renya Karasuma: Why does my head feel so itchy all of a sudden?)

In fact, this was the "Infinite Gaming Console" he had purchased from the mall for the hefty price of 3,000 points. It hurt his wallet a bit, but the item was worth it. Just as the name suggested, it contained countless system-original games waiting for players. The console could even transform into any form the owner desired—like a 90s-style computer. Because of this, Gin didn't find it particularly out of place.

"This is your treasure? Boring stuff."

Influenced by him, Calvados also asked doubtfully, "Is this really going to be fun?"

Sake tried to smooth things over. "I think it looks very interesting!"

Keep being stubborn, Gojo thought. With so many games inside, he didn't believe these people with such dry lives would have no interest.

Unsurprisingly, it was a "True Fragrance" moment. Two hours later, they were completely hooked. Even the strong-willed, indomitable Gin had succumbed.

"Hey, Calvados, if you can't beat the monster, switch with me. You're trash."

"Wait, just a little bit more, almost there!"

First was a classic side-scrolling brawler. System-produced meant premium quality. The diverse, cool character skills were dazzling, and the flashy combat was far more novel than the drills at the training camp. The scene designs ranged from urban streets to mysterious forests, and then to sci-fi and wasteland worlds, creating a visual feast. The fast-paced experience of draining an opponent's HP bar was highly addictive.

Making two people who had never touched electronic games interested was no harder than using tamago sushi to kidnap a Gojo-cat.

Calvados gritted his teeth, his hand slipped, and he was unfortunately KO'd. Gin let out a cold snort and stepped up to take over. He chose a gunslinger character wearing a black fedora and a long black trench coat.

...Gojo thought it looked remarkably familiar. Perhaps the Workaholic's love for this outfit was rooted in his heart since childhood.

On the side, Sake didn't seem keen on fighting games. After watching for a while, she picked up a manga book. Once she started reading, her head never came up again. She even temporarily forgot about the "God" sitting right next to her.

Gojo noticed the cover of her manga seemed to feature two beautiful boys.

"..." Hiss, I have a bad feeling about this. However, he was glad she found something she liked.

Back to the boys.

After several rounds, Gin, who had mastered the controls, had fingers flying across the buttons. He was playing even better than Gojo.

"YOU WIN."

As the victory text appeared on the screen, Gin's lips curled up almost imperceptibly. As expected of me.

Alarm bells rang! Gojo felt a sense of crisis. Had the Workaholic surpassed the master? He couldn't lose face like this.

He coughed. "Since you guys have pretty much mastered the basics, how about trying a match against me?"

As he spoke, he chose a bald character wearing a tacky white cape and a yellow superhero suit, looking quite ridiculous. Gin and Calvados's eyes lit up.

Yes! They couldn't beat this guy in reality, but surely there was a chance in a game? They were using the same controllers, how much difference could there be? Not to mention, Gojo chose a character that looked incredibly weak.

Gin suddenly felt an unprecedented passion for the game. "Bring it."

He was quite confident now, certain he had mastered all the rules of operation. Finally... he saw the dawn of victory over the shadow of his life, Satoru Gojo!

Two minutes later.

He was crushed. Purely, utterly crushed. He couldn't understand why, but he simply could not win.

"..." Gin's eyes went blank. His soaring interest vanished instantly. Whatever, fine. As for the already rookie Calvados, he didn't even last thirty seconds.

"Hey, hey, it's normal to lose to me~ cheer up."

Seeing that both had lost interest in continuing the game, Gojo felt a bit guilty. But more so, it was a sense of security.

Hmph, I am the strongest, after all. That title isn't something people can just take away.

Once taken away... uh... memories of the original Satoru being cut in half by Ryomen Sukuna and saying it was a pity he couldn't make the other guy have more fun flooded back. It was terrifying.

Doesn't matter, that was just OOC fanfiction drawn by Gege! Begone!

Seeing the two lose interest in fighting games (or rather, lose confidence), Gojo recommended another high-rated system game: "Love Campus ~ Heart-pounding Memories with Yuuyuuko".

The moment he saw the title screen, a look of incomparable loathing appeared on Gin's face. Calvados, on the other hand, turned red—likely his head was already filled with certain strange fantasies.

"I know you guys really want to beat me in a game, right?"

The two remained noncommittal.

"Then let's have a contest with this dating sim. Whoever can capture the heroine's heart first wins."

Gojo pretended to press some keys on the computer while secretly commanding the console in his mind to split the screen into three. Gin, Gojo, and Calvados each had a screen, starting from the same timeline. It was perfectly fair.

Although Gin had zero interest in this "sticky" romance game, his competitive spirit flared up again at the prospect of beating Gojo. After a few seconds of thought, he said, "Fine."

Calvados had no objections.

"Then~ Game Start!"
