Kael listened to everything as he didn't want to lose his life outside as the chances were high. His trait and bloodline wouldn't matter much if he became a victim of the environment itself.
While attending the lectures he would occasionally look towards his left. Just parallel to him sitting was the purple-haired girl.
This time it wasn't him who came near her seat but it was the other way around. It seemed they both only liked back places. The only problem was his stupid blood.
...
The last lecture was about testing abilities and this was what made others quite excited.
This was what they all were waiting for. Showing their abilities as a showoff and seeing others' abilities to see if they were good or not.
Kael had tested his abilities before and he had to say that they were a little terrifying. He had thought that his trait was only meant for doing risky things like bait or something but he was thoroughly wrong.
Nonetheless he didn't have to show his ability. Those who didn't want to could stand and watch and he was planning to do that.
They all arrived in an open field with multiple fixed targets.
"Alright everyone, those who have range-related abilities will go first. Come here. See that target 20 meters away? Hit it with all you got." Aelith said while pointing towards the nearest circular target.
All those who had range abilities gathered around at the location she had pointed.
The trial wasn't the only thing. The Academy rated Latents based on their abilities. At the end of the two weeks they would release a list which would rate everyone on the basis of what they had seen.
The score ranged from 0 to 100 and this was the score which was used by major organizations and clans to choose rankers.
Zero was given to Latents like Kael who didn't show anything.
The first one to go for the showcase was a girl. She took out a knife.
Traits were like information about your main abilities. They weren't always related to elements or anything. Like someone's trait could be flying and they would get abilities related to flying.
The girl threw the knife and it hit the middle of the target. It wouldn't have been surprising if not for the fact that she threw the knife randomly. It just turned and hit the middle of the target.
"Rare ability, Sure Hit huh... that's a good one." Aelith nodded in approval. "Next."
Sure Hit was really quite a good start. Earth had developed lots of deadly weapons. If she could get a good bloodline which focused on strength then she could be a walking homing weapon infantry.
Slowly lots of abilities were shown and the ones that shone most were Rare and Epic abilities.
Most of the abilities were utility type with a few attack types.
The ones who hadn't shown their abilities till now other than him were the same people who hadn't told their trial results, the scion of the Pyrecrest family included.
They all were basically ignored by everyone. Well, the ones who were truly ignored were Kael, and the girl and boy standing together. The other two were definitely ignored for different reasons but if any of them decided to form a group they would just join among themselves.
"Pathetic, why do I have to attend this newbies academy?"
Suddenly Kael heard a little outburst from the Pyrecrest scion who was standing just a little far from him and it seemed he wasn't the only one who heard that.
"Oh the prince is angry..." The burly boy standing near the beautiful slim girl spoke.
Kael raised his eyebrows. Was this guy not afraid of Pyrecrest? Rules were only meant for the weak. A super clan had many ways to even make a family vanish much less a single guy.
The scion squinted his eyes. "I see that you have the guts to talk back to me. It's a little surprising since you are one of the biggest trash here. At least those weaklings have shown their abilities."
The burly boy snickered and was about to respond when the girl near him placed her hand on his shoulder and shook her head. "I apologise for my brother's rude behaviour. Please forgive him."
Kael was again surprised listening to that. 'So they were siblings huh... did he eat all her food or something?'
"Humph!" The scion snorted and looked away.
That was again quite surprising for Kael as these descendants of super clans didn't let go of a conflict this easily.
.....
Nothing major happened for the rest other than the fact that lots of groups were already formed.
Although forming a group just gave a sense of protection as anything could happen in a different world.
Kael came to the cafeteria as he wanted to eat something better. They were given food directly to their rooms and it wasn't bad either but he was craving something sweet today.
The cafeteria was always full. It seemed unlike him everyone had money to spend as they wanted.
He ordered a pastry and turned towards the seating and to his annoyance even the few of the tables which were empty when he came were filled.
Just as he thought that he would have to go back to his room to eat, a hand was waved at him. It belonged to the girl from yesterday and she was sitting with her brother.
He got a little surprised but maybe it was because they all always stayed at the back together and now it felt like they knew each other. Although it was the first time he would be interacting with them.
Each table had five seats, definitely an arrangement made for a group. He arrived at the table and took the seat with a gap of one seat from them.
"Hello, what's your name? Mine is Elara." The girl spoke with a sweet smile.
"Kael." He gave a short answer while praising her beauty. She really was charming. Not like her beast of a brother.
