"Nice to meet you Kael." Elara spoke cheerfully.
Kael looked at the burly boy and nodded. "Hello Edrin."
The burly boy smiled with a nod and asked with an amused tone. "Kael, why haven't you mentioned your trial? It's not like anyone would judge it since there were a lot of Normal trial takers."
Kael wasn't someone who got intimidated by others. He smiled. "Well I can say the same to you..."
Edrin's amusement turned into a grin. "I see... but you would be dead wrong if you think our situations are similar."
"Brother, I think you should eat quietly and let me do the talking." Elara shook her head.
Edrin shrugged his shoulders. "Alright, go ahead but I still don't agree to bring a weakling like him on the team. He would be more of a burden than help."
Kael raised his eyes. True he was weak. He was quite fit no doubt due to all the exercise he did but he didn't have much muscle or as big as this burly guy here, so this burly guy really had the right to call him weak but only in terms of body.
"Don't mind his words Kael. He can be a little ass sometimes. Well the reason I called you was to ask if you would like to join us in the expedition?" Elara came straight to the point.
Kael thought for a moment. Groups were important because they had mutual understanding to share corruption crystals. Once they went to another world they wouldn't be together as teleporting through Genesis split them but the area they landed in would be the same.
The only benefit was that those who entered the vortex together were very close by so they could easily group up.
"Alright, if you guys are fine with a weakling like me then there is no issue." Kael shrugged his shoulders. He was fine either way. He would have been assigned any random team anyway.
Edrin smirked and spoke before Elara. "Good, at least you know that you are weak. I like your honesty."
Kael didn't pay any attention to him and took a bite of his chocolate pastry.
Elara shook her head and saw the next person she wanted to ask about it. "Let's see if he agrees or not."
Kael looked towards the direction she was looking and saw the scion of the Pyrecrest clan. "Are you sure? I highly doubt that." He was really not optimistic.
Why would a scion of Pyrecrest join them especially after what had happened previously? Not to mention this guy could join any group he liked.
"Well it wouldn't matter much even if he didn't agree." Elara spoke and was about to gesture to him when the person in question spoke loudly.
"Listen everyone, I am forming a group. Those who are interested can tell me tomorrow in the cafeteria. I will only accept Epic traits."
This announcement made those who were in Epic traits a little excited as Elara smiled ruefully and sat down. "Guess we have to find someone else."
Just as she said that the cafeteria became a little quiet and the reason was another new person entering inside.
When Kael looked towards the counter he saw the purple-haired girl. He sighed and went back to eating his pastry.
"How about you ask her sis? Who knows she might agree." Edrin spoke while looking at the girl.
'Tsk why am I not surprised by his eagerness.' Although it really would be good if she joined.
"I don't know... but she has an air of rejection or maybe nonchalance around her." Elara said while shaking her head. "Oh that guy seems interested too."
Kael took one more bite and immediately looked towards the counter when he heard that.
The scion came close to the purple-haired girl and spoke. "Miss, would you like to be part of my team?"
Kael shook his head internally and began paying attention to his pastry. 'Why was he even paying so much attention to her?'
"No."
A soft and melodious voice rang through the cafeteria which was dead silent due to everyone waiting for the response and listening to that response they got stunned.
It seemed new things did happen. Someone could decline a scion's invitation to his team. For ordinary Latents like them this was a big deal.
"See this is what I meant. I am feeling that's what I would hear if I invited her." Elara spoke while sighing.
"I wonder who she is? It's not like everyone can get their hands on a bloodline that can change hair colour." Edrin spoke but he who always spoke louder was slow in his tone. "Is she coming here?"
Suddenly Kael felt his blood boiling stronger than ever before. He smelled a sweet fragrance as the seat just beside him was pulled back.
"Excuse me..."
He just heard that when the purple-haired girl sat beside him. He gulped the last bite with a little difficulty.
"Sorry to disturb you guys but this is the only table with an empty seat available in the cafeteria."
"A-Ahh... no, it's alright." Elara stuttered a little. "B-By the way I am Elara..."
The purple-haired girl nodded. "You can call me Seris."
Elara's eyes lit up. "Okay."
'Seris... what a beautiful—I am hopeless.' Kael kept his eyes a little away. He wanted to move to the other chair near Edrin as Seris sat between him and Elara.
The others in the cafeteria were still in a shocked state. The scion himself was stunned for a few seconds before he gritted his teeth and left.
This didn't affect the atmosphere on Kael's table.
"Cough! I am Edrin."
Edrin introduced himself and Seris nodded.
Now the only person left was Kael and he didn't know why this felt like a humongous task. 'It's just speaking his name for god's sake.' He took a short calming breath and looked towards his right. "Nice to meet you. I am Kael."
Once he said that he became quite calm.
Kael who was hoping for only a simple nod or nothing suddenly saw two purple eyes looking at him. He felt his heart skip a bit as he saw her lips move.
"Nice to meet you Kael."
