Chapter 22 - Chapter 21 The Audit Of The Eight Winged Shadow

Welcome everyone to yet another episode of season 1 volume 2 of the God Emperor saga.

Hope you all enjoy it.

----------------------------------------------------------

Han Jin opened the door just wide enough to frame the girl.

Up close, the air around her felt different, not the heavy, digital static of the Developer's minions, but something ancient and pressurized.

It felt like standing at the bottom of a very deep, very cold ocean.

"The Ninth Heaven was known for its hospitality," the girl said, her voice like wind-chimes in a storm.

"I hope retirement hasn't made you rude, Han Jin."

"Hospitality is reserved for guests," Han Jin replied, his hand tightening on the kitchen knife.

"Auditors usually get the back door.

Who sent you? The Administrator?

Or one of the Other seats?"

The girl stepped into the apartment without being invited, her violin case clicking softly against the floor.

As she moved, her eight-winged shadow flickered across the walls, momentarily turning his modest living room into a cathedral of darkness.

"The Seats are currently in a state of... transition," she said, sitting on his worn-out sofa.

"Call me Seraphina.

I'm from the Elysian Archive , one of the universes that didn't just survive the deletion, but thrived because of it.

We heard the God-Emperor of the Ninth Heaven had successfully uninstalled a Developer.

That's a high-level feat for a legacy file."

Lin Xi stepped out from the kitchen, her eyes sharp.

"What do you want?"

"A test," Seraphina said.

She patted the violin case.

"The Second Beta isn't about harvesting souls.

It's about Integration.

The Administrator wants to know which realities are strong enough to anchor the new Multiverse.

Those that are too weak... well, they become Sub-Dimensions for the winners."

Han Jin walked to the center of the room. "And you're here to see if Earth is Sub-Dimension material?"

"Exactly." Seraphina stood up and unlatched her violin case.

Inside wasn't an instrument made of wood, but one carved from a single, translucent rib of a dead god.

"If you can survive one movement of my Requiem for a Dying Star, I'll leave.

If not, I'll take the Salt of Creation and the Paperclip back with me.

They're too dangerous for a Level 1 reality."

[BING!]

[Sudden Event: The Auditor's Recital]

[Objective: Neutralize the Sound-Space without destroying your apartment.]

[Reward: Elysian Tuning Fork, Permanent Rank Activation.]

"Lin Xi, get behind me," Han Jin commanded.

He didn't pull out the Paperclip.

Instead, he took the Cosmic Whetstone and ran the edge of his cheap kitchen knife across it once.

SHING

The sound was a flat, perfect note that cut right through the pressure Seraphina was emitting.

Seraphina's eyes widened.

"Honing a $15 blade with starlight?

You really are a peasant-emperor."

She drew the bow across the strings.

The first note didn't create sound; it created Gravity.

The apartment windows groaned, bowing inward.

The pork belly on the table was crushed into the plate.

Fatty Wei, who had been sleeping in the guest room, let out a muffled "Oof!" as he was pinned to his mattress.

Han Jin felt his knees buckle.

This wasn't a System attack.

This was a Universal Law.

Seraphina was literally changing the physics of the room to match her own reality.

"Link," Han Jin whispered, the Rusty Paperclip in his pocket glowing white-hot. "Link the Frequency of the Music to the Edge of my Blade."

He swung the kitchen knife.

He wasn't aiming at Seraphina; he was "cutting" the sound waves.

The air screeched as metal met melody. Sparks of pure logic flew across the room, singeing the curtains.

Han Jin's muscles burned , his mortal body was screaming under the strain of holding a Multiversal Law with a human arm.

"Second Movement!" Seraphina cried, her fingers dancing with terrifying speed.

The gravity vanished, replaced by Entropy.

The wallpaper began to age and peel in seconds.

The kitchen knife started to rust.

Lin Xi's hair began to grey at the tips.

"You're accelerating time!" Lin Xi shouted, her hand reaching for the Salt of Creation. "Han Jin, the apartment can't take it!"

"I'm not cutting time," Han Jin gritted his teeth, his vision blurring.

"I'm cutting the Auditor."

He didn't move toward her.

He used the Logic Needle technique.

He threw the rusted kitchen knife.

It didn't fly straight; it glided through the cracks of time Seraphina had opened.

The blade whistled past Seraphina's ear, severing a single strand of her hair before embedding itself in the door.

The music stopped.

The entropy reversed. The wallpaper smoothed out, and Lin Xi's hair returned to its dark luster.

Seraphina touched her ear, looking at the severed strand of hair on her shoulder.

She looked at the knife in the door, then back at Han Jin.

"You used my own time-acceleration to speed up your throw," she said, her voice dropping its playful tone.

"You played a high-speed game with an Auditor.

If you had been off by a millisecond, that knife would have aged into dust before it reached me."

"I don't miss," Han Jin said, his breathing heavy.

Seraphina snapped her violin case shut.

The eight-winged shadow retreated into her feet.

"Earth is... interesting," she admitted, walking toward the door.

She pulled the knife out of the wood and handed it back to him.

"You've passed the Audit. For now. But fair warning, Han Jin: I'm the Easy Auditor.

The Asura from the Crimson Sector is already on his way, and he doesn't use a violin.

He uses a meat-grinder."

[BING!]

[Quest Complete: The Auditor's Recital!]

[Reward: Elysian Tuning Fork received.

Your Multiverse Rank has been set to: Unranked Challenger.]

Seraphina stepped into the hallway and vanished before the door even closed.

Han Jin slumped against the wall, the kitchen knife vibrating in his hand.

He looked at the Elysian Tuning Fork that had materialized on the coffee table.

"Lin Xi," Han Jin said, his voice raspy.

"Pack the pork belly.

We're moving."

"Moving? Where?"

"To the GAB," Han Jin said, looking at the tuning fork.

"If the Asura is coming, I need a bigger kitchen.

And a lot more knives."
