Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Blue Flower

After Lucy's rant, everybody started working, they started by making wheels using the clay.

He had to admit their skills weren't bad, he expected the wheels to be jagged but they were very smooth.

Then they started making the cylinder door. They made it as dense as possible, it took over two hours before they were done.

Khali dried it up. It was over three metres in diameter almost matching the diameter of the cave entrance.

Then Khali, Viona and the other men pushed it through the cave entrance. It was heavy, extremely so.

By his estimate it weighed around 10 to 15 tons. He had to buff himself with divine energy to even move it.

It slid through the entrance with difficulty, they all took deep breaths, extremely exhausted just by pushing it such a short distance.

" It works." Whispered Viona. He shook his head, " No we're not done. We still have to block these openings otherwise the wraiths are still going to get in."

Lucy nodded. " You're right." Then she started drawing on the ground. She was measuring the exact size of these spaces just by looking at them.

Khali was suprised by her intelligence, especially since he learnt these people never learnt math, she was just figuring it out herself.

Then they pulled it back in. It had multiple handles on one side for them to pull with. Pulling it was even harder than pushing it.

Then they used the clay to fix the entrance making it circular matching the shape of the door.

They raised a slight platform under where the door will go leaving only the space for the wheels.

After they were done they tried it again. The door fit perfectly without leaving even a tiny space.

Fortunately airflow did come from the back through where the river passes so breathing was not an issue.

However this made him wonder why they didn't come in through there. He could understand the clickers, they can't swim, their bodies were too dense but it didn't make any sense for wraiths not to.

He decided to check it when night falls. Before night fell he stood Infront of the cave entrance and looked up.

What he saw shook him, above the reddish blue sky was a massive red ball of fire. He realised why this world was so hot.

The sun was a red dwarf but it was expanding. He had seen this phenomenon thousands of times before.

Eventually the planets around the star are consumed by it and those that aren't still disappear when the star explodes.

This world was not far from being consumed by this star, he couldn't tell exactly how long it had but just by looking at it he can already tell it had less than a century.

" I have to work fast." He whispered. " What?" Lucy asked. He went back inside, " Nothing, just lost in my thought."

He lied, he didn't want them panicking but somebody as intelligent as her had probably figured this out as well.

He went to check the boiling pot, the water had turned slightly grey but the meat was white with a bit of pink.

The poisonous blood had been completely removed. He took the meat out of the pot and spilled out the water.

Then they roasted the meat over the fire, as night drew closer they closed off the cave entrance.

The world turned dark as if somebody turned a switch off. He was very certain now, this was not his domain.

This was within the domain of death. His older sister Nyxx of death had very few worlds within the world of the living.

But all of them had one thing in common, their nights were absolutely terrifying, in exchange for such terror, the people on those worlds had high affinity with death.

Some even had the power to resurrect the dead, this was her gift to them. Suddenly they heard whispers outside.

The wraiths were here, they tried their best to ignore them but he had to admit those things were annoying.

Then he remembered something he wanted to check. He went to the back of the cave and when he passed by where he first woke up.

He saw the magic circle on the ground glowing with faint black light. He frowned, this light had the aura of his sister but weaker, much much weaker.

He continued and finally arrived near the river. This place glowed with faint blue light from the flowers growing underwater.

He moved along the river until he reached the end and then he realised why wraiths couldn't come in.

It wasn't the lack of trying, no, even at this moment he saw them trying to enter but they disintegrated the moment they touched the glowing water.

He got curious and scooped the water with his hands, then he realised his foolishness. The water wasn't glowing, it were the flowers.

He reached under and plucked one flower however the moment it left the river it started withering.

He used two points of divine energy to keep it alive but he knew he needed to find a permanent solution.

As a God of progress he was naturally curious and had a scientific mind. Unfortunately in his past life as a God, he knew almost everything.

Which is why this was so great to him, not being able to identify a plant species immediately excited him.

He wanted to study it and figure out what it was. He ran back to where the others were and placed the flower in one of the water buckets then stopped supplying it with divine energy.

Immediately it started deteriorating but slower, much slower. He realised it needed water to survive.

This was great, then he took it out and filled the bucket with soil. The soil from the cave lacked nutrients, he could see that but he wanted to know how the flower with react to it.

After planting it in soil and water he left it there. It didn't die immediately but it didn't look healthy either, it glow was faint and somber.

He left it there to study for later.
