The servant entrance was on the eastern side of the castle. Away from the grand silver gates. Tucked into the wall like an afterthought.
Less impressive. Less guarded. But still intimidating.
Selene approached at mid-morning. When the sun was high and the streets were busy enough that one more hopeful worker wouldn't stand out.
A line had already formed. Maybe fifteen wolves. All dressed plainly. All carrying that same look of desperation mixed with hope.
People who needed work. Needed coin. Needed a place in the world.
Just like Selene was pretending to be.
She joined the queue. Kept her head down. Her posture submissive. Everything about her screaming "harmless" and "desperate" and "please give me a chance."
