The great feasting hall stole Selene's breath.
She'd grown up in a noble house. Had attended formal dinners and celebrations. Had thought her family's great hall was impressive with its high ceilings and beautiful tapestries.
But this was on a completely different level.
The hall was massive, easily three times the size of anything Selene had seen before. The ceiling soared overhead, supported by marble columns carved with wolves in various poses—hunting, fighting, howling at the moon. Crystal chandeliers hung from iron chains, each one holding hundreds of candles that cast warm golden light across everything.
Long tables stretched the length of the hall, covered in white cloth and set with silver plates and goblets. Nobles filled every seat, dressed in silks and furs and jewels that probably cost more than most people earned in a lifetime.
