The next day, or rather later that same day, Sebastian woke up at 3:50 pm still feeling exhausted, but no matter how much he tried to do so, he couldn't fall back asleep.
Tired and with the feeling of his eyes burning he always felt when waking up, he stood from his bed and walked towards the kitchen to heat up some more food.
While he waited for the food to heat up, he started remembering what had gone down earlier that day and despite knowing that the strange things that happened to him weren't a dream, a spike of adrenaline ran through his body.
He remembered that he had magically disappeared out of the hospital without any of the staff knowing about it, so without even letting his food finish heating, he used his strange new ability to bring himself back to the room he had left.
He felt relieved that he was actually there as he thought his ability would fail again like it did when he tried to bring his friends to his apartment.
Immediately he ran to the front desk and asked if anyone was looking for someone by his name and room number.
The secretary he spoke to jumped from her seat as if she'd seen a ghost, then quickly started making a call and told Sebastian to sit down and wait.
Around an hour later, he saw a police officer standing behind the glass door of the hospital's entrance alongside his three friends who all looked distraught and seemed to not have slept at all.
He saw the cop tell his friends something then the unformed man walked in while his friends waited outside.
Sebastian became stressed by seeing the officer walking up to him, desperately thinking how he was going to explain himself.
The officer spoke, then approached Sebastian and they started talking.
"Good afternoon, I'm officer Harrow, may I please have your name sir?
"Sebastian Eden"
"Alright, Mr. Eden, do you know why I'm speaking to you right now?"
Sebastian gave the officer a tired look. He didn't have the energy to even fake a smile while looking at him.
He sighed, "Maybe."
Officer Harrow gave Sebastian a confused look but despite the rude answer, he decided to keep questioning him.
"Can you please tell me where you went to last night, after your visitors came to see you." Asked Harrow.
Sebastian had no idea how to answer, "He's not going to believe me if I tell them the truth, He'd think I'm crazy." The thought crossed his mind.
His thoughts kept scrambling in his mind and then he thought to himself that if he pretended to not know where he was, the cop might believe it. He had been found unconscious before being sent to the hospital after all.
"I'm sorry, I can't remember"
"Are you sure? I've been told you disappeared earlier that day and came back with no memory of where you were as well."
"Yeah, I can't remember a thing. The last thing I can recall is lying in bed after everyone left."
The officer nodded as he wrote something down on a small notebook.
"I understand you say that you can't remember anything, but I've also been told that none of the hospital staff nor the security cameras saw you leave the building. Do you have any idea of how that might've happened, Mr. Eden?"
"I really don't have a clue."
The officer nodded again, however he wasn't convinced of what Sebastian told him.
The officer asked some more questions, and received the same answer of ignorance from Sebastian, so, a little irritated, he thanked Sebastian, wished him a good day, then drove away after speaking some more with the trio standing outside.
Once officer Harrow left the scene, all of Sebastian's friends walked in and silently stared at him for a while, the looks on their faces changing from worries to somewhat relieved.
Then after a short while, another barrage of questions were directed towards Sebastian, he was growing tired of being constantly questioned recently.
After a quick back and forth between everyone and Sebastian, he learned that Matthew knocked on his door for hours after he said something about going home then disappearing, but after no response, he gave up and they were all planning to tell the police everything before the hospital did it first and were called in as they were the last people who had seen Sebastian.
"Yeah, I was sleeping, I'm sorry I didn't answer the door." Said Sebastian in a monotone voice, clearly not wanting to be there.
He was about to tell them about what he knew of his strange new ability, but a thought crossed his mind, "These people are annoying, why do they keep screaming about me? I just want them to leave me alone" He thought to himself while ignoring the ramblings of his friends.
Sebastian walked up, told one of the staff to please take his friends out because they were bothering him, then went back into his room.
His friends were shocked as they were told to leave, and after a bit of resisting, they eventually left.
"The fuck is wrong with him?" Said Emilia, "It's always the same with this guy. God knows what's going on with him and he still can't act like a normal person."
"Let's just let him be, whatever problem he has he can figure it out on his own for now." Said Matthew.
Kat remained silent and nodded to what they said, with a worried look on her face however.
"Let's go eat something, I haven't eaten properly since yesterday." Said Matthew to try and lighten the mood.
"What about Sebastian?" Said Kat with a slightly shaking voice.
"He can screw himself, I'm hungry too, let's go eat somewhere." Interrupted Emilia
"But we can't just ignore what happened to us last night either. We have to do something! " Kat said hurriedly.
"That's true but Sebastian doesn't seem to want to talk to us right now. You know what he's like." Said Matthew in a slightly disappointed tone.
Kat hesitated for a second and reluctantly agreed with Matthew and Emilia. Shortly after this conversation they left the hospital and went to grab some food.
A passed, it was night time again and Sebastian got discharged from the hospital. He was about to use his new ability to get back home, but officer Harrow's words came back to him. He figured it would be best to not draw as much attention to him.
He went to a secluded area with no witnesses nor security cameras.
"I'm back home." He spoke out loud.
As he had somewhat expected, he was back at his apartment. After he gathered his thoughts he sat down on his couch and started thinking to himself.
After getting back home this time, something clicked in his mind and he noticed a reoccurring pattern tied to this new power he somehow got.
He remembered the few times he'd used his ability to go somewhere, he always had to word it a certain way.
"My friends are here. I am in my apartment. I am in the hospital room. I always needed to say that something is somewhere for it to work" He thought, not realizing that this time, his ability didn't activate.
Sebastian already understood that he had some sort of superpower when he appeared in his apartment for the first time, and he already knew he needed to say something to activate it, but figuring out what that condition was needed seemed to fill him with excitement.
Although he was indeed starting to understand his ability, in his overwhelmed state of mind, he also skipped over something important.
As if a bolt of lighting had just struck him, a wild idea crossed his mind in an instant.
"What if I can do more than just this? If so then what can I do? What is the limit to this power?" He thought in a haze.
As he thought of what he could do to utilize his ability to the fullest, another wild idea came to him.
He started to shake uncontrollably, not out of anxiousness but out of pure and genuine excitement.
While still looking down, in a low, trembling voice he whispered as he sat, "I… I can fly."
The moment those words came out of his mouth, his body suddenly rose from his couch and, still in his sitting position, remained floating a few inches above where it used to be.
Unlike the first time he used his ability, he knew exactly what was going on, and immediately tried to understand how to move in this state.
To Sebastian's surprise, he found it quite easy to control his body. The closest thing he could describe the feeling to was using one of those hoverboards that moved as you tilted your body, he had one of those in his younger years and it felt eerily similar to using that.
Everything that was happening was too much for him to bear, his mind became overflooded with an intense rush of pure happiness, so much so that he started to see the beauty in everything that surrounded him, from a spec of dust on the floor to the entirety of the earth.
Everything in the world just felt so wonderful to him.
While flying, he approached his balcony and gazed up at the sky. He still couldn't see the stars, but that was trivial to him at that moment. It all felt so amazing to him that even a starless night caused by the light pollution of the city seemed like the most wondrous thing to grace this existence.
In his joyous and almost delirious state, he started the cry once again, still looking at the empty night sky. He noticed he'd been crying more often recently, but that was too little of a bother for him to even care.
"Freedom," he said as tears came flooding from his eyes, "Everyone in this world seeks freedom, and why shouldn't they? it's a glorious thing to have, isn't it? To be free.."
He paused and without hesitation flew off from his balcony, now flying several feet above the ground.
In a burst of emotion he flew as high as the tallest building in the city, then stood at the very peak of it.
He looked at the moon, it was still a full moon, and that made his emotions empower his being even more.
With tears still flooding his face, now more than ever, he looked at the emptiness of the sky interrupted by the giant white celestial body that had been there for millions of years and as if he wanted everyone in the world to know of his existence, he shouted at everything below and above him with every single fiber of his being,
"I... am free!"
