Chapter 36: Fire Style: Dragon Flame Jutsu
Uvogin walked out of the dust cloud. His upper clothing was completely shredded, but his exposed skin showed no significant damage.
He cracked his neck and stretched his limbs, acting as if the brutal exchange was just a warm-up.
"I have to admit, your growth rate exceeded my expectations," Uvogin said, his aura blazing as fiercely as before. "But choosing close-quarters combat was your biggest mistake."
At that moment, Ronin stopped hiding. His eyes fully transformed, locking into the Two-Tomoe Sharingan.
Simultaneously, his internal energy spiked. The fatigue from using the Primary Lotus began to fade rapidly.
This was because he had opened the Second Gate: The Gate of Healing (Kyūmon).
This was currently his limit.
The Gate of Healing forcibly increases physical recovery by pushing the body beyond its natural limits with a surge of energy. It allowed him to recover stamina instantly after the grueling Primary Lotus.
The Second Gate was the bridge between the Primary Lotus and the Hidden Lotus.
Once he could open the Third Gate (Gate of Life), he would undergo a qualitative change in Taijutsu power.
Unfortunately, his body couldn't handle the strain of the Third Gate yet.
But unlike Rock Lee, Ronin had Ninjutsu and Nen.
The Sharingan transition was brief. As his eyes turned back to black, the abstract Rental Demon on his shoulder finally made its move.
It disintegrated silently, releasing a massive torrent of aura that flooded directly into Ronin's body!
Uvogin watched this unfold.
When that immense volume of Nen injected into Ronin, the pressure radiating from the boy became genuinely dangerous.
Ronin felt the surging power. The Tomoe in his eyes spun, and in an instant, that ocean of aura vanished, converted entirely into a colossal reservoir of Chakra.
When the Primary Lotus failed to deal serious damage, Ronin realized his previous assessment was wrong.
Back on the airship, Uvogin coughing blood wasn't just because of Ronin's punch. Uvogin was likely already injured when he started the chase.
The Sharingan had shown him Uvogin's aura flow, but his lack of experience caused him to miss the subtle signs of internal injury. He had also underestimated the damage caused by the Lightning Oppression Horizontal Chop earlier.
But dwelling on past mistakes was pointless.
Knowing Uvogin was stronger than anticipated, hiding the Sharingan any longer was childish.
The brief pause in combat allowed the audience to finally catch their breath and erupt into cheers again. Even though most couldn't see what happened, the crater in the ring was proof enough of the power on display.
But neither fighter heard the noise.
Ronin knew his time was limited.
Fully entering Ninja Mode, he leaped backward. A swarm of shuriken erupted from his hands. Through the Shadow Shuriken Technique, the number of projectiles multiplied mid-air.
Simultaneously, he wove seals with one hand.
Fire Style: Phoenix Sage Flower Nail Crimson.
This was a B-Rank application of a C-Rank Jutsu. It infused the shuriken with intense flames, dealing both physical cutting damage and thermal burns.
Uvogin wasn't surprised. In fact, he would have been surprised if Ronin didn't use strange abilities now.
Uvogin stomped the ground.
The already cracked floor shattered, sending a spray of stone debris into the air.
Using his planted leg as a pivot, Uvogin whipped his other leg around, infused with Ko like a Big Bang Impact kick.
He kicked the debris.
The stones shot forward like bullets, colliding with the incoming flaming shuriken. Sparks flew as projectiles were intercepted, but some broke through, racing toward both fighters.
Ronin changed seals instantly. Snake - Hare - Dog.
He slammed his hand onto the ground. A thick earthen wall rose up in front of him.
Earth Style: Mud Wall.
He didn't use much Chakra, just enough to block the debris.
The stone bullets hammered into the wall. A split second later, the wall crumbled as Uvogin smashed through it.
His arms had scorch marks from blocking the fire shuriken, but his fist was raised high, glowing with violent aura.
Another Big Bang Impact.
But behind the crumbling wall, Ronin wasn't panicking. He yanked his hands back.
Invisible wires, attached to the shuriken scattered around the arena, suddenly snapped taut, forming a web between him and Uvogin.
The shuriken barrage wasn't just an attack; it was a setup.
Uvogin sneered.
Trying to slice me with wires? Don't look down on me, you bastard!
But as the thought formed, he saw Ronin pull a kunai from his pouch.
The kunai had a wire loop attached. Ronin threaded the main wire through the kunai ring and, as the web tightened, completed a final hand seal.
The movement was fluid, practiced thousands of times.
Ronin opened his mouth, and a concentrated line of fire shot out, racing along the tightened wires at incredible speed.
Fire Style: Dragon Flame Jutsu!
WHOOSH!
Before Uvogin could bring his fist down, the fire traveled along the wires, engulfing him instantly. The targeting was precise; the wires guided the flames directly onto his body.
But Ronin wasn't done.
His eyes were grim. His hands began to blur again.
This time, he wasn't using simplified seals. He was weaving a full sequence of 44 Hand Signs.
He intended to maximize the power of his next Jutsu.
He sensed that even the Dragon Flame Jutsu wouldn't take Uvogin out.
"ROAAAR!"
A bestial roar erupted from the flames. Uvogin charged out of the fire.
His wild, Saiyan-like hair was now singed short. His skin was red and blistered in patches.
The Dragon Flame Jutsu was powerful enough to snap thick tree trunks, yet Uvogin took it head-on and suffered only superficial burns.
A monster who fully commits to Enhancement is truly terrifying, Ronin thought.
If a C-Rank Jutsu only causes light injuries... what about a fully powered, B-Rank offensive Jutsu?
As Uvogin stepped forward, Ronin was already more than halfway through the 44 seals.
A sudden, ominous feeling gripped Uvogin's heart.
