When Everett awoke, he had a massive migraine.
He clenched his fists tightly and brought them up to his temple before even opening his eyes.
"O-Oh gods, you're up!"
Everett moved his fist aside and glanced at the familiar face beside him.
Lia shuffled nervously in her wheelchair. "I wasn't watching you while you slept or… anything like that."
This was a lie. She had been counting his feathers for the last hour or so.
"H-How are you feeling?"
"Ugh..."
"I'll take that as 'not great'... I-I can go and get you some food if you want?"
"Yeah, no... I think I'm okay." Evereet closed his eyes once again.
"R-Right, you wouldn't be up for eating after... I'm so sorry about your family, Everett."
Everett cracked open one eye. "Thanks..."
"I-I know that I'm usually the one who always ends up interrogating you, but I can listen if you want to talk about it. Honest!"
