Chapter 17 - How The Table's Turn-3

"Are you alright?" Zyrus asked looking at Anaerah who watched the dead body with still eyes, for a moment she was quiet but then she looked up and nodded.

"I will be and we don't have time to waste." She said, looking straight at him. Her faint dark blue eyes were sharp as they looked at him.

Though, she couldn't hide the slight trembling of her hand, that Zyrus noticed however chose to not comment on.

They don't have much time for it and they are her emotions.

Nodding, he quickly crouched as he took the sword from the dead men, and give the other one to Anaerah.

It felt much better, to have a weapon. Even though he was a novice in wielding it.

Swiftly, they moved out of the carriage. As they moved the cold wind of the night hit them, as the air felt way too fresh.

For the first time, since coming to this world Zyrus and Anaerah were in the open...in the outside world...in another world.

This was their new reality.

As both of them took, just a miniscule of a moment to look at the forest. They couldn't help but admire the creation of the world.

The vivid silver of moonlight swam in the air like a blanket, as it illuminated the whole forest in a dazzling glow.

The forest around them looked like the canvas of night sky, as the fireflies blinked in the air shining with their luminescent fire.

While, trees and flower shimmered happily with the cold and moist morning dew that fell on them from vast heavens, drowned similarly in the shade of silver.

It was awe inspiring.

'How wondours. The novel didn't even come close to this.' He complimented.

Tearing their gazes away from the ethereal and astonishing beauty of the forest, they moved briskly towards the trees.

Their plan was simple, actually.

Run...

Yes, run. No matter, how much Zyrus wanted to save the children and get these people asses, he wasn't eager enough to fight them all until, their was no option left.

The strength of their leader was after all unknown making it dangerous. Thus, they had decided to run.

Moving swiftly, through the trees and moonlight they moved towards the direction of the Duke's Estate which Anaerah was able to guess because of some reason which he doesn't know.

However, they had to stop as a man with a black hood and mask moved towards their right. He hadn't noticed them. Though, he would have if they didn't stop just metres away from his back.

He gestured Anaerah to wait and moved.

Ducking, through the foliage of dense thicket. He moved behind the man, trying to create as minimum sound as possible.

It helped that Man, seemed focused on his front more instead on his back. Lunging at him, like a jaguar Zyrus grabbed the Man's nape tightly as he pointed the knife at his neck.

"Make a sound and you die."

The man flinched and then froze listening to his cold threatening voice.

"Now, answer my question?" Zyrus said.

"What is the strength of your leader?"

"L-leader? I d-don't kno-hiek" The man's answer to was cut short as the blade, bit into his neck slightly sending a shiver of pain and fear down to his being.

"Intermediate+! I-Its Intermediate+" The answer came instantly.

Slice.

And quickly as it came, his voice was also silenced. Another one fell.

Anaerah came closer to him and she questioned something.

"Why didn't you just asked it from the man before?" She asked.

Zyrus hesitated for a moment and then answered.

"Um, i kinda forgot." He said slightly sheepish at his mistake.

Anaerah gave him a long look.

"What? It's my first time doing something like this you know, mistakes happen." He said protecting himself.

Anaerah just shook her head, as she once again started moving.

Fortunately, this time as they ran. No one, seemed to come in their directions as they run away freely however it seemed that they had underestimated the kidnapper's.

As they ran around a kilometre away from the carriage, a shimmering white barrier came in front of them creating a dome spaning in a large area.

Curiously, Zyrus raised his hand to touch it. However, was stopped when Anaerah grabbed his hand and stopped him. Her looked at her questioningly.

"Don't touch it, there's a chance that it will alert them of our location." She said.

"Well, it seems we don't have much choice other than to fight." He said looking at the twin moons that hung in the sky.

"We can try to break this, however from the mana coming from it...I don't think that would be easy. So fight it is." She shrugged lightly and she answered.

"Hmm, do you have a plan?" He asked her.

Thinking for a moment, Anaerah smiled lightly.

"Yes, i have a good one actually." She said.

"Oh, what is it?"

"Wait."

"Wait?" Blinking at her answer, Zyrus asked.

"Yes, we have already killed three of their people that means soon enough, they will know that we are here. That will give us a chance. " She said waiting for a moment.

"Go on." He chimed in.

"Unless, it our utter bad luck and they all decided to move together in a single group. The kidnapper's will be divided, in rather small groups giving us a chance to kill them...one by one instead of fighting all of them head on." She answered.

"Hmm, it's a good plan. However what if they had a powerful one among them. All the three we killed before were just mundane humans." Zyrus said.

"No, there are ninety percent chance that the most powerful they will have will be intermediate-. After all, the leader is only intermediate+, he can't handle that many powerful awakened under his group that easily anyway." She finished.

"Fine, we will go your plan." Zyrus agreed.

It was a great plan, some what similar to what he had in mind, however her's was more practical so he didn't waste time arguing.

Soon, both of them waited.
