Zyrus and Anaerah were teleported back to the carriage and once again a slight dizziness struck him, however this Zyrus was able to not get much affected by it.
However, as soon as he entered the carriage. He noticed two things. First was, his mana. His mana was being devoured from his core.
"Hm, how did these guys have that device?....unless they are." His eyes widened slightly, as he muttered speaking lightly so only Anaerah could listen him.
"Yes, it seems They are behind this." Anaerah said as she moved closer to the device. It sucked even more mana from her body when she moved closer to it.
However, it seems that their version of this device was on the downgraded side so it did not affect her much after all, she is conscious unlike before when they kidnapped her.
"Oh, how do you know about them?" Zyrus asked slightly surprised by her knowledge of the novel.
"It's not much, but system had also allocated me some memories of events and progression from the novel and given me the information about the important characters atleast." Anaerah answered as she touched the device.
A tiny orb of orange fire erupted from her hands as it struck the device breaking and burning it down to black ashes.
"Good enough, i guess." Zyrus answered as he experienced the change instantly when the device stopped working.
The second thing, he noticed was the blood. The blood of the human, he killed.
For a moment, he heart trembled however he had already steeled his resolve when he had decided what to do at the beginning of the Zero'th Trial.
There's no point in turning back now, anyway. He is a murderer after all.
"Well, let's get to it. We can't let these children be sacrifice's." Anaerah said making Zyrus nod.
Just then, both of them listened, some whispers outside. Quickly, they concentrated, on the sound and moved towards the carriage wall.
"Tch, why did the boss had to stop the carriage just because two rats ran away? Those guards of Duke is hunting us like bloodhounds. Our five men had already been killed." A irritated voice came from outside.
"Shh, be quiet idiot. If someone listened you, we would get our ass handed."
Zyrus looked at Anaerah as she also turned to him.
"Can you kill?" He asked directly his serious without any pretense.
Anaerah looked at him for a moment, then her eyes closed as she breathed deeply. The moment she opened her eyes, they changed as resolve burned in them.
She nodded.
"I can."
Nodding Zyrus moved as he picked up a large broken piece of wood from the carriage. Then, moving towards the gates of the carriage with him on one side while Anaerah on other.
He threw it, creating a loud sound.
"Hm, what was that sound?" One of the two man, listening to it, frowned and spoke grabbing the other one attention.
"What happened?" The other one asked, if one looked beneath his mask. He had dreamy expression on his face. He was drunk.
"See fucker? That's the reason why, i told you to not drink? Can't you listen, to the sound that came out of the children's carriage just now." The sobered man said disgusted.
"Shut up, fucker. I am not that drunk. Y-yes, i also listened to that sound, let's go check it quickly. There's a chance those kids might be there."
The drunk spoke, trying his best to not speak groggily and quickly moved towards the carriage.
The sobered one just shook his head.
"How can those two be there, idiot? The Boss was the one, who checked the whole carriage. It's probably a beast." Muttering these words lightly to nobody, he also moved towards it.
"..." Zyrus calmly waited for the two to come inside.
The drunk was the one who reached the carriage first, and entered it. The second one being slight distance away from him.
Zyrus didn't instantly attack, the moment the man entered. Instead, signing to Anaerah he told her wait.
If he tried to grab him, there was a chance that the other one might see them, and shout. After all, he wasn't confident in taking them head-on.
The drunk looked around the carriage from the entrance, though not being able to see much clearly in the dark. He entered inside fully, standing distance away from the gate.
Like a hawk, Zyrus didn't wasted a single second. He moved instantly as, he grabbed and blocked the man's mouth with his palm.
While, his other hand shot up towards the man's neck. The same rusted knife in his hands.
The man's eyes widened, as he instinctively moved to struggle however it was too late...
Pierce
Crimson, flowed out from his neck in a thin trail. As the knife was lodged deep inside his neck, almost passing through the other side.
As the light flickered out from the man's eyes. His involuntary struggling stopped and he fell limp just like that one was dead with a word or a sound.
"Hey, bastard. What is it inside, come out?" The second man spoke lightly as he also came inside at the same time.
His eyes widened in shock, as his hand instantly moved towards the hilt of his weapon. His throat tightening, as he prepared to shout.
Yet, a moment later. No sound, came out.
Anaerah's hand was already raised at the back of the man's neck. A fierce orb of orange flame playing in it, searing the man's neck slightly.
"Dare to let out a single sound, and you won't see the another second much less another day." Anaerah voiced out coldly.
The man in an instant raise his hand, his body trembling in horror. As he didn't even tried to beg.
"How many of you are here?" Zyrus asked, as he threw the limp body on the ground lightly making sure it won't make any sound and asked.
"W-we were more than twenty h-however three of us had been killed before and five an hour ago. P-please don't kill me." The man begged.
Zyrus looked at him, his eyes icy. Then, he looked at Anaerah and nodded.
In the next moment, the orb passed through the man's neck killing him on the spot.
