"Yes, yes, that's my Metapod! What should I do? I'll rush over right now!" Ash said anxiously.
"Don't be so hasty," Raj stopped him. "Let's think carefully and make a plan first."
As they discussed, Raj suddenly noticed two figures moving in the distance — and beside them, a talking Meowth with a golden charm on its forehead.
"James, didn't we just see Ash and the others come this way?" Jessie asked, looking around.
"Yeah, I followed them all the way here, but now they're gone!"
"Meowth, stop arguing, you two!" the cat Pokémon hissed. "If we can just catch Pikachu, the boss will finally be proud of us!"
Hearing their loud chatter, Ash and Misty instantly recognized them — Team Rocket's most ridiculous trio.
Raj sighed internally. So it's these two clowns again... Jessie and James, the so-called villains of Team Rocket.
In this world, Raj was the son of Kenji, the original leader of Team Rocket. To think that his organization's reputation was constantly ruined by these two idiots made him feel almost embarrassed.
Still, an idea flashed through his mind. Since they're here… maybe I can use them.
Raj quietly opened the System Mall and exchanged two Crimson Scent Fruits — rare berries with an aroma that Beedrill absolutely loved. His points instantly dropped to zero.
He crushed the fruits in his hands and tossed them toward Jessie and James.
"Huh?"
"What was that? Just some overripe fruit falling from a tree," James muttered, brushing his shoulder.
Neither of them realized what Raj had just done.
Raj then picked up a few stones and hurled them toward the massive tree ahead. The sleeping Beedrill stirred — dozens of glowing green eyes opened in the darkness.
"Gastly, use Hypnosis on them. Make those two provoke the Beedrill."
Raj released Gastly, who silently drifted behind the unsuspecting trio. In this dim forest, its sneak attack worked perfectly.
Within seconds, Jessie, James, and Meowth were hypnotized — and began walking straight toward the Beedrill hive.
The moment the Beedrill caught their scent, the entire swarm exploded into a frenzy. The aroma of the Crimson Scent Fruit drove them wild.
Hundreds of Beedrill shot into the air, buzzing furiously toward the hypnotized trio.
Jessie and James suddenly snapped out of hypnosis, blinking in confusion — and terror.
"Uh-oh..."
"Dead, we're so dead!"
"Meowth, this is bad! Really, really bad!"
The three of them turned tail and ran, screaming as the Beedrill swarmed behind them, jabbing relentlessly.
"Ow, that stings!"
"Meowth, why are you using me as a shield?! Ahh—ouch! Actually... that's not so bad—wait, no, stop!!"
Their cries faded into the forest as they disappeared, chased by the furious swarm.
Raj smirked. Perfect.
With the Beedrill distracted, Ash dashed forward and reclaimed his Metapod using a Poké Ball.
"Raj, thank you so much!" Ash said, his voice full of relief.
Raj only gave a faint smile. If only you knew I caused all this in the first place...
Misty looked at him with a mix of awe and admiration. For such a mysterious trainer, Raj had handled everything brilliantly.
The familiar chime of the System echoed in his mind:
[Ding! Mission complete. You have earned 1,500 points.]
Raj checked his System panel — the points were indeed credited. He then glanced at the massive hive above. Inside glistened pools of golden, crystal-clear honey.
Beedrill Honey… this could be useful.
Climbing up the tree, he collected as much as he could. The System immediately triggered another prompt:
[Ding! Beedrill Honey detected. This can be used to nurture Pokémon or recycled for 1,000 points.]
"Recycle it," Raj said without hesitation.
[Ding! Honey successfully recycled. 1,000 points obtained.]
Raj smirked. So I can earn points this way too? If I gather more valuable items, I can easily trade for stronger Pokémon. Not bad.
After finishing, Raj quickly climbed down. The Beedrill could return any moment.
"Ash, Misty — let's move!" he whispered.
They hurried away through the forest, Gastly floating quietly behind them. As they left, Gastly suddenly darted toward a group of Kakuna still hanging nearby and swallowed three of them whole in one gulp.
Ding! Gastly devoured Kakuna ×3 — Combat Power +15, Evolution Rate +10%.
Raj couldn't help but chuckle. "You little glutton… fine, you've earned it."
Gastly floated beside him with a mischievous grin.
The next morning, sunlight streamed through the trees. Ash, Misty, and Raj stood at the edge of Viridian Forest, preparing to part ways.
"Raj, are you sure you don't want to travel with us to Pewter City?" Ash asked earnestly.
"Yeah," Misty added, her voice shy. "If you come along, I can cook for you! My food's really good!"
Raj smiled. "Thanks, but I'll pass for now. I've got something to do in Viridian City. Our paths will cross again soon."
He waved goodbye and walked off down a different trail, leaving the two trainers watching his back in silence.
