Chapter 8 - Chapter Eight

Soraya's POV

He's one of them.

I breathed, my breath shaky and filled with fear.

No matter how hard my wolf kept screaming mate, I couldn't mask the fear that clung to me refusing to let go.

I wanted to ask a lot of things from the moon goddess.

If I had a chance it would be: what the fuck is this situation?!

How can I be mated to someone like him?

The same person who had tried to kill me just minutes ago.

What kind of twist of fate was this?

The situation frustrated me, but I couldn't vent my anger. I didn't dare to.

Not when his eyes never left mine.

I stared at the man in silence, his blood red eyes deep with emotions.

It felt like the silence stretched into eternity until he finally moved. "Come with me mate."

He stretched his left hand to me.

I looked at the outstretched hand, then back to his face.

Forget the danger. If this were in another setting, and my heart hadn't been so totally broken, humiliated and me not fearing for my life, I would have followed him. Gladly.

I mean, this man was the epitome of all she wolves' wet dreams.

How can you say no to a face like that?

But sadly, it wasn't the case.

I was heartbroken, on the run, and this man was a killer who just ripped men to shreds just outside.

I shook my head, carefully taking a step back. "No."

His face darkened instantly, his hands falling to the side. "No?" He repeated, but more like a surprise.

Like he was hearing the word for the first time or more yet, he looked like I had been the first to reject him.

My wolf whimpered, clawing at the back of my head and demanding we submit, but I pushed her off.

Wasn't Jamal's betrayal enough?

I didn't need anybody adding to it. Mate or not, I wasn't going to take those chances.

Tension brewed in the air, as we fell into a silent stalemate.

I let out shaky puffs of air, sweat and perspiration clinging to my dirty skin.

The bushes beside him suddenly rustled, and two towering wolves emerged, walking majestically towards us.

I froze, my heart tightening in fear.

It's them. The other triplets.

I took a step back, watching them quietly move to the naked triplet, blood dripping from their mouths.

Just from walking alone, they easily towered their brother, and that was an understatement seeing that this man was over six feet tall.

Both wolves stood beside the naked triplet, equal red eyes staring at me as they sniffed the air releasing a growl.

I couldn't understand them, but I knew what they meant.

Like the first triplet, I was their mate too.

He paused, a ripple flashing in his eyes, before his lips moved. "Shift."

The command was silent, but it made me quickly understand who the leader among the three were.

In an instant bones snapped, cracking to reveal another set of naked men, all three identical faces staring at me with heated eyes.

My wolf stirred, eager to rush forward to meet them, but I held her back just in time before she took over my body.

Contrary to what my wolf believed, we were soon doused with a cold bucket of ice water.

"What is the meaning of this Lucen ?" The triplet to the left snarled, his nose flaring. "Why does an omega smell like our mate?"

The first triplet— Lucen answered lazily, a tilt to his head. "Because she is."

"Impossible!"

The one on the right snarled, and I finally found out why their surnames were Grey, as his gray irises flicked beneath the sea of red.

"The moon goddess would never do that to us!" He added, glaring at me like I was the cause.

I flinched, wanting nothing more than to hide myself.

"Yet she did Draven." Lucen replied lazily, a subtle air of command hanging at the edge of that sarcastic remark.

"Well she must be mistaken to have paired us up with her!" The one on the left, Draven spat. "She'll die before we even announce her."

"Yes. We absolutely can't bring this filth back with us." His brother quickly echoed.

Their words stung, but it added more to my determination and at the same time killed every thought my wolf had.

"Quit your whining you two." Lucien hushed, moving forward with a tone of finality. "Now that she's here, we can look on the bright side. We don't need to hunt to keep our wolves from driving us crazy."

That shut them up. The two twins turned to me, giving me a once look over, and looking away.

"At least she's of some use after all." Draven eyed me in disgust.

Instantly I felt self-conscious.

Truly, I hadn't been my best.

With everyone after my life and trying to escape, I look like a frog who rolled around in mud only to greedily stare at swan meat.

"Let's head back." Lucen announced, cracking his neck. "I am in no mood to continue the hunt."

Continue?

I thought, feeling sick.

These people killed on a whim. How were they supposed to be my mates?

The two brothers said nothing, quietly moving along with him, but I stood rooted to the ground unmoving.

Lucen raised a brow, stopping once he noticed my lack of action. "Aren't you coming along?"

I forced myself, muttering a no.

"I— I don't want to go anywhere with you three. You can leave me here, or better yet, reject me." I bravely said.

My heart hammered, as all six eyes landed on me.

Lucian chuckled, the sound low bouncing off into the night.

He stepped closer to me, and I quickly moved back.

Unfazed, he tilted his head to the side, boredom dripping in his tone. "Now why would we do that?"

"Because I don't like you three." I glared, glaring at them.

I had no idea where this was coming from, but I hung on.

Lucen's lazy posture disappeared, replaced by a challenging gaze.

"Do you think we care?"

"More importantly Lucen." Draven dropped a hand on his brother's shoulder. "Who ever told her, she had a choice in this?"
