Chapter 255 - Reinforcements

A second 'curse scar'—this short sentence was enough to make Emrys shiver from head to toe, as if he had fallen into an ice cellar, cold sweat profusely dripping down his back.

If he had known earlier that there was also a 'Warp Gate' hidden here, there was no way he would have led the Tyranids here!

This wasn't a Warp Gate at all; it was clearly a super bomb that could explode at any moment!

He finally understood why this world was classified as a 'Death world' by the Emperor during the Great Crusade in 30k.

It was probably to avoid attracting attention.

It's even possible that this world wasn't originally a 'Death world', but the Emperor turned it into one to keep a secret!

It's important to remember that the explosion of the Cadian Gate had already torn the real universe with a curse scar, allowing the power of the Warp to spill out, especially with more severe effects on the Imperium's dark side!

If another curse scar were to be torn open on top of the first, he couldn't even imagine what the Imperium of Man would become.

It would most likely revert to the chaotic situation before the Great Crusade, and it's not impossible that the entire Human race could be wiped out!

Once a second rift opens, the accompanying series of chain reactions are absolutely severe consequences that the current Imperium, and even humanity, cannot bear!

Emrys' face was extremely grim; no wonder the 'Yellow Skin' specifically sent Winnie to find him!

But there was still one thing he didn't understand.

"Can a single Warp Gate really cause such severe consequences?" At this moment, Emrys still held a glimmer of hope.

Warp Gates weren't unheard of, and while extremely dangerous, saying it could cause a second curse scar was a bit of an exaggeration.

If it were that easy, Abaddon would have long since driven his Blackstone Fortresses to ram Warp Gates everywhere.

Why would he have specifically chosen the Cadian Gate?

Facing Emrys' question, Winnie wasn't surprised at all; she just looked at him quietly and said indifferently, "Because the creator of this 'Gate' was once the overlord of the Milky Way Galaxy—and the race with the deepest understanding of the Warp."

"The…the Old Ones?!"

Emrys' face turned ashen, his eye twitching wildly. How did this thing get involved with the 'Old Ones' again?

Was he really that unlucky? First, Necrons' creations and the C'tan, and now an Old Ones' creation.

"Initially, after the God-Emperor discovered this place, he immediately sealed this Gate with 'Blackstone', and also placed the Necrons' Blackstone creation as the first line of defense, blocking it from the outside." At this point, Winnie's tone was somewhat complex and helpless. After glancing at him, she sighed, "But I didn't expect you to discover this place and take away the Blackstone creation, which led to this thing—now almost completely defenseless, exposed like this."

So, it was his fault after all?

Emrys was speechless.

"How could I have known that behind the Necrons' Blackstone creation, there was a Warp Gate made by the Old Ones hidden?"

What kind of hellish joke was this?

The Old Ones and the Necrons, the two former overlords of the Milky Way Galaxy, had both, by coincidence, hidden their creations here!

Who could be unluckier than him?!

Let alone Emrys, even an experienced Inquisitor or a Archmagos of the Mechanicus wouldn't have imagined that behind the Necrons' Blackstone creation, such a huge thing was hidden!

Perhaps this was precisely the 'Yellow Skin's' idea back then: to use one secret to hide another!

This way, even if the C'tan Shard was discovered, no one would think that a bigger secret was hidden behind it!

"You really…told me an earth-shattering secret." Emrys sighed deeply. Secrets often meant paying a price for them.

Because he changed the direction of the Battle of the Shield of Perdition, causing the plot to deviate from its original course.

In the original plot, after the Shield of Perdition was breached by the Tyranids, the spearhead quickly turned towards the Baal system, which was the later brutal Battle of Baal!

In other words, in the normal course of events, the Tyranid fleet would not care about this world, because Perdita was inherently a resource-poor, barren Death world.

But precisely because of Emrys' appearance, the direction of the Battle of the Shield of Perdition deviated from its original course.

the Tyranid fleet landed on Perdita, and even to find him, they were digging three feet deep, almost hollowing out the entire world!

If not stopped, the Tyranids would soon find this place and discover this 'Warp Gate' created by the Old Ones!

Even if there was only a one in ten thousand chance, Emrys dared not gamble whether the Tyranids would attack this Gate!

He couldn't afford to gamble, and humanity couldn't either!

If they lost the gamble, the terrifying consequences that would result, no one could bear. A second curse scar would be enough to drag the entire Imperium of Man into the abyss of darkness!

This also meant that Emrys had to change his original plan and could no longer let the Tyranids dig everywhere, touching Perdita's secret.

"Wait—"

Suddenly, Emrys thought of something. Could he use Transformers technology to 'miniaturize' this Gate and throw it into other Worlds?

This way, he wouldn't have to worry about this Warp Gate being discovered by the Tyranids.

But soon, Emrys sighed helplessly. This Gate was a product of the Old Ones, and the technology it used far exceeded the miniature spatial compression technology he obtained in the Transformers world.

In layman's terms, this Gate could not be 'miniaturized'!

He was able to transport Factories to other Worlds entirely by relying on miniaturization technology: first miniaturizing them, then throwing them into private space, then travel over and restoring them to normal.

Inability to miniaturize meant that such a large Gate simply couldn't fit into private space, and thus couldn't be moved to other Worlds.

Now, he had no choice but to change his plan.

From guerrilla warfare to head-on confrontation.

The difficulty of this was naturally self-evident, especially after the provocations of the past few days. the Tyranids were thoroughly enraged and now wished they could skin him alive, flay his tendons, crush his bones, and drain his marrow!

It could be said that Emrys had currently firmly attracted the hatred of the Tyranids Hive Mind!

In such extreme circumstances, trying to defend Perdita head-on and prevent the Tyranids from finding the 'Warp Gate' was as difficult as ascending to heaven!

That 'Yellow Skin' really knew how to cause trouble for people!

Emrys sighed, and after some careful thought, he finally looked up at Winnie.

"I can only hold out for a few days at most. To completely defend this place, a large number of reinforcements are needed."

"Imperial reinforcements are on their way."

Winnie's face was cold, and she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, her brows revealing a hint of solemnity and concern.

"You must hold this place until reinforcements arrive."

"I—I'll try my best."

Emrys sighed softly, his tone seemingly casual, but his eyes were extremely resolute.

This Gate must be defended!
