Chapter 31: How am I Supposed to Fight This?!

Saitama saw King standing there, paused, and looked over curiously, frowning slightly.

"Who is this guy? Why did he die so brutally?"

King didn't bother hiding anything. "This guy was the mastermind behind the House of Evolution. Seems he got killed by the very monster he created. What a shame."

Saitama nodded. He didn't linger and continued walking forward.

"Got it. Let's go find that monster then. I can sense it running away."

As they walked, Saitama's face gradually changed. From his usual simple, doodle-like art style, his features became sharp and angular.

Originally, he had come here with a playful mindset, not taking these so-called monsters of the House of Evolution seriously at all.

But now, realizing a monster that brutally murdered humans was just ahead, Saitama's heart—the heart of a hero for fun—was instantly ignited. His playful attitude vanished into thin air.

Right now, he had only one thought: Punch that monster until it explodes!

Seeing Saitama get serious, a drop of cold sweat rolled down King's forehead. He wiped it away casually and quickly followed.

Just the killing intent leaking from Saitama made every cell in King's body scream danger, as if death were imminent.

The gap between me and the Caped Baldy is just too big... As expected of the only true "Strongest" in this world...

However, King didn't believe Dr. Genus was actually dead.

An old schemer who could rejuvenate his youth and hide in the shadows for so long wouldn't be stupid enough to face the notoriously violent Carnage Kabuto with his main body, completely defenseless.

Both of them accelerated. A red streak and a yellow streak raced through the dark tunnel. In the blink of an eye, they burst into the training arena.

In the vast, empty space, a humanoid creature standing three to four meters tall, covered in a poop-yellow carapace, was furiously pounding on the laboratory's main door—the easiest exit to breach.

Under his relentless assault, the meter-thick high-strength alloy door was beginning to deform and loosen.

Carnage Kabuto looked at the crumbling door, a smug smile appearing on his face.

Trying to trap me? With just this door in the way, escaping is a piece of cake for the great me!

Suddenly, he sensed a fluctuation. He stopped moving, his eyes filled with terror.

Carnage Kabuto stiffened. Trembling, he slowly turned his head to look back at the tunnel entrance.

There, a tall blond man and a bald guy in a yellow jumpsuit had appeared in the training arena.

Outskirts of City Z. In the Wilderness.

A towering tree, a hundred meters high, stood alone. In the middle of its trunk was a spiraling, twisted hollow.

Inside the hollow were various high-tech precision instruments. Countless tubes crisscrossed the space, all converging into a tank of green nutrient solution in the center.

Crash!

With the crisp sound of shattering glass, nutrient fluid spilled everywhere. A slender young man with black hair and long bangs stepped out.

Confusion flashed in his eyes for a moment. Then, he clenched his fists as countless memory fragments flooded his mind.

"Damn Carnage Kabuto. I can't believe he actually killed me. Luckily, I had a spare body hidden away, or I really would have died."

Indeed, this young man was the resurrected Dr. Genus. As an expert in genetic research, how could he rely solely on inferior clones?

By extracting his original genes over a long period, Dr. Genus had created multiple replicable bodies. As soon as the original body's vital signs ceased, his consciousness would be randomly transferred to one of these spare bodies for resurrection.

He had set up four resurrection points like this around City Z.

However, the technology had limitations. Since consciousness needed to connect with the new body, the distance couldn't be too great—it had to be within City Z limits.

Dr. Genus picked up a spare pair of glasses from the table, wiped them carefully, put them on, and donned a fresh lab coat.

Carnage Kabuto really is a failed creation... Without my control... he must have escaped the House of Evolution by now...

At this moment, Dr. Genus actually found himself hoping that the two powerful intruders would kill Carnage Kabuto.

That way, at least it would prevent the monster from going on a massacre in the outside world.

"This location is only five kilometers from the House of Evolution. I need to get there and investigate. If those two fail, I'll have to recapture Carnage Kabuto myself!"

The House of Evolution contained many special facilities designed to counter Carnage Kabuto, which only he, with his original clearance authority, could activate.

In Dr. Genus's view, once Carnage Kabuto started rampaging outside, it would lead to the destruction of the entire world!

"YIIP!!"

At this very moment, Carnage Kabuto—the being Dr. Genus feared would destroy the world—let out a terrified squeak. He flapped his insect wings frantically and huddled in the corner, shaking.

A rhythmic sound, loud enough to shake the heavens, pounded in his ears. To his enhanced hearing, it sounded like thunder.

DOOM! DOOM! DOOM! DOOM-DOOM!!!

Carnage Kabuto felt nothing but sheer panic. It felt like he would be killed in the next second. He had almost zero desire to resist.

In his insect perception, the blond man on the left was like a god descended to earth. His entire body surged with power as vast as a raging river, and that thunderous heartbeat only highlighted his divinity.

The bald man on the right looked weak and full of openings. But every time Carnage Kabuto directed even a sliver of killing intent toward him, his instincts screamed of instant death.

How the hell am I supposed to fight this?!
