Chapter 33: Eight Lifetimes of Good Fortune!
Sensing that the human before him had voluntarily lowered his heavy defensive shell, Carnage Kabuto, smelling fresh blood and flesh, went even crazier. He roared and pounced.
His bulging blue-green muscles twitched rhythmically, continuously supplying near-infinite stamina to his powerful frame.
His shattered fists regenerated rapidly under the binding of new granulation tissue. Thick, viscous saliva dripped from the corner of his mouth as he smashed a vicious punch toward King.
The fierce wind from the fist brushed King's cheek. His expression didn't change. He simply threw a kick.
BANG!
A sonic boom exploded. Carnage Kabuto flew backward faster than he had come, smashing violently into the super-alloy wall before slowly sliding down.
King had deliberately held back his strength. Although he had the ability to one-shot the monster, he didn't plan to kill Carnage Kabuto just yet.
After all, at this stage of the story, finding a sandbag as durable as Carnage Kabuto wasn't easy.
King looked at his skill bar. The recently acquired [Energy Mastery] lay there quietly.
Although he had only tested it once, the power of manipulating energy had surprised him.
Even after significantly reducing the output, it had nearly killed Carnage Kabuto.
He pointed a finger at the monster ahead. Golden energy gathered wildly at his fingertip. In the blink of an eye, a massive energy sphere three meters in diameter formed.
Using his new passive skill [Precision Control], King adjusted the power of this sphere to the "Mid Dragon" level, intending to test what kind of explosion different intensity levels would cause.
With a thought, the energy sphere, carrying destructive fluctuations, shot out in a straight line, locking onto Carnage Kabuto.
Carnage Kabuto instinctively sensed the danger, but being in [Carnage Mode] left him with nothing but a bloodthirsty desire for battle. He would never dodge any attack!
His leg muscles exploded with power. His massive body shot out like a lightning bolt. Posturing for a tackle, Carnage Kabuto collided head-on with the energy sphere.
Violent energy ripples flowed continuously. Carnage Kabuto roared constantly, his tough skin and muscles grinding away at the energy sphere's power.
He began to punch again. Every punch shattered parts of the energy sphere. Even though his fists turned charred black and his skin melted away, he never took a step back.
"DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE!!!"
After a flurry of chaotic smashing, Carnage Kabuto actually managed to shatter the energy sphere.
King was clearly somewhat unsatisfied. The control aspect of the energy sphere still needed improvement—for example, increasing the density further and reducing energy leakage.
"Not bad. You successfully blocked one energy sphere. So, how about ten?"
Violent energy gathered behind him. In an instant, ten golden energy spheres appeared floating in the air, all aimed at the heavily injured Carnage Kabuto.
"Go."
He pointed forward. The ten created energy spheres instantly surrounded Carnage Kabuto. A dazzling pillar of golden light shot into the clouds, instantly obliterating this specially reinforced area.
A massive explosion echoed through the sky. From within the dense golden energy, a tattered figure flew out and crashed heavily onto the ground.
Carnage Kabuto was in a miserable state. His lower body was missing, and his upper body was mangled, with internal organs slipping out from the gaping wounds.
Even so, he remained in [Carnage Mode]. New granulation tissue wove together constantly, attempting to regenerate his body.
King nodded. It seemed the damage output of the energy spheres was decent. Just ten Mid Dragon-level spheres were enough to kill Carnage Kabuto at his peak.
To be honest, the ultimate creation of the House of Evolution wasn't particularly strong within the Dragon-level hierarchy. Even with [Carnage Mode] active, he barely touched the threshold of "High Dragon."
In the extended canon (audiobooks), Carnage Kabuto was defeated by Superalloy Darkshine in a 15-minute simulation, and most S-Class heroes could beat him.
Only a few specific ones failed, like Metal Bat, who needed to ramp up his "Fighting Spirit" to increase his attack power. Since the simulation didn't account for Fighting Spirit, he was killed by Kabuto in ten minutes.
Looking at the still-roaring Carnage Kabuto, who clearly hadn't regained his sanity, King shook his head helplessly.
"What a greedy little kitten. Fine, I'll treat you to a big one. Go out with a bang."
King raised his hand and condensed an energy sphere tens of meters in diameter. Destructive waves rippled within it; its power was comparable to a nuclear warhead.
After continuous compression, the massive sphere shrank to the size of a fist. However, its form became extremely unstable, flickering and warping constantly.
Without hesitation, seeing Carnage Kabuto about to finish regenerating, King shoved the energy sphere into the monster's mouth, turned around, and ran.
His speed was incredible. In just a few seconds, he was over ten kilometers away. Only then did he turn back to look.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
A pillar of golden light that shook heaven and earth pierced the clouds. A violent shockwave dispersed the cloud cover high above, and the earth trembled continuously.
"Wow. A Peak Dragon-level energy sphere is ruthless."
That blast didn't just vaporize Carnage Kabuto; it turned the entire House of Evolution into ash.
Too bad I still couldn't test the maximum combat limit of the energy spheres. Carnage Kabuto was just too weak to handle it.
King shook his head helplessly. He called the Hero Association to clean up the mess, then turned and left.
Meanwhile, Hero Association Headquarters.
Tatsumaki, who had finally been calmed down and was sulking in a chair, suddenly heard the news.
King had destroyed an evil organization called the House of Evolution in such a short time.
She instantly panicked.
"That damn Scarface! Why does he keep stealing all the work every single day?! No, I can't be slower than him!"
Knowing she couldn't beat King in a direct fight, Tatsumaki decided to compete in areas outside of pure combat strength.
For example: Who solves more monster incidents? Who defeats more Dragon or Demon-level threats? Who clears missions faster?
Although King had never agreed to compete in any of these things.
But in Tatsumaki's view, being able to compete with her was basically eight lifetimes of good fortune for him!
