Battler Season 3
The beginning of Battler in the Tournament Arc .
The capital of the Battle Kingdom had changed.
Banners of gold and crimson hung from towers.
The streets were polished, guarded, watched.
A festival was coming.
Kenji stood on the balcony of the royal guest residence, staring at the city below.
"One billion BC," Toya whistled behind him.
"For one tournament. That's insane."
Aiko folded her arms.
"It's not about money," she said quietly.
"It's about power… and visibility."
Ryo clenched his fists.
"So they want to test us again," he growled.
"After almost killing me."
Kenji turned.
"They're not testing us," he said.
"They're testing me."
At that moment, royal footsteps echoed.
Eunseok entered, followed by two royal guards.
"Kenji Takemura," Eunseok announced,
"by the order of His Majesty King Itsuki Imoja—
you are formally invited to the Royal Battler Tournament,
held in honor of Princess Yumi's 22nd birthday."
Yumi stood at the doorway.
Her eyes met Kenji's.
She smiled politely, royally—
but her hands trembled.
Eunseok continued.
"Only one representative may fight."
Silence.
Ryo stepped forward instantly.
"I'll fight."
Kenji raised a hand.
"No," he said calmly.
"I will."
Ryo stared at him.
"You just fought a kingdom," Ryo snapped.
"You're still wounded!"
Kenji's voice was low.
"This fight isn't about strength alone," he said.
"It's about what comes after."
Eunseok bowed slightly.
"The arena awaits your answer in three days."
When he left, Yumi lingered.
"Kenji…" she said softly.
"You don't have to do this."
Kenji looked away.
"If I don't," he replied,
"they'll never stop watching us."
Yumi's heart tightened.
