Cassian settled into his seat smoothly, his eyes never leaving my face.
"So, Princess Roxanne," he said, leaning forward slightly. "I have been thinking about you since the hunt. Tell me, have you ever visited the Northern Territories?" Eh? Why was he asking me this again?
"The forests there are unlike anything in the empire. Crystal lakes, ancient trees, snow-capped mountains—"
"She hasn't," Lucien cut in sharply. "And she won't be visiting anytime soon."
Cassian's smile widened. "Why not? Surely a princess should experience all the wonders the continent has to offer."
"She's occupied with her mana training," Lucien said through gritted teeth. "And her duties here."
"Duties?" Cassian tilted his head. "What duties? You're not married yet."

I chuckled nervously, and stole a glance at Lucien. Sigh.
