"LOOK! CANDY!"
Rose's squeal of delight was so loud that several people on the street turned to stare.
I couldn't help as she bubbled with excitement, pointing at a vendor's stall overflowing with colorful confections.
We were dressed in what Clarissa had called "common clothes", simple dresses in muted colors, plain cloaks, worn boots. I had wrapped a scarf around my head to hide my golden hair, and Clarissa had ditched all her jewelry.
We look like three regular girls out for a day in the city.
It's perfect.
"Can we get some? Please please please?" Rose was already tugging on my sleeve, her brown eyes wide.
I laughed. "Of course we can."
We approached the vendor, and I bought three sticks of what looked like crystallized honey mixed with nuts. Rose grabbed hers immediately, taking a huge bite.
"Yum yum yum!" She bounced on her toes, licking the candy with the enthusiasm of a puppy discovering treats for the first time. "This is so good! Your Highness, try yours!"
