Chapter 10 - V1 Chapter 8: End Of Day 2

Thanks to the efficiency of my hunts by the sixth time i entered the dungeon i had already managed to clear the third and finally fourth floors.

The speed of my stat points was still growing rapidly in comparison to regular adventurers who were likely to only see around 10 stat points across the board per day and that's if they were lucky, for the prodigies like Ais, or even Bell those numbers would be far greater than a mere 10, at least in the very beginning.

But comparing my own growth to even these two powerhouses.

It made me look like a monster.

I was only ending my second day in Orario and not only could I rank up to level 2 but, I had achieved what was referred to as a level break.

As in one or more of my parameters had breeched the S rank.

In this case that was Strength.

Having switched up my weapon from a sword to a hammer.

Why?

Maintenance.

Swords would require daily resharpening at the pace I was churning through monsters, and on the flip side it wasn't like I was some protagonist with infinite storage capable of bringing out a new disposable sword every time my current one was broken in combat.

So change to a weapon that needed limited maintenance.

Aka a hammer.

And not a newbie's hammer.

The one I purchased came from the mid tier Hephaestus shops, sure it cost me more than a pretty penny with a cost of around 100,000 valis but for an all metal hammer, its usefulness far outweighed its cost, and the advantage was the smith seeing I was a newbie given my low quality armor, though he was a weaponsmith so I didn't get any freebie armor out of the deal, but he did give me a pair of swords backup weapons just in case his hammer failed me when I was fighting for my life in the dungeon.

The hammer itself initially caused a slowdown in my slaying pace, but that was just because swinging a hammer around was not the same as swinging a sword.

Mix that with needing to adapt to how one should fight monsters with a hammer likewise slowed the pace, but only for the first hour or so.

And nothing disastrous happened during the initial investigation period so it all worked out.

Still after fourty-eight hours of living in this world, my stats had already reached a point most adventurers take a year at the least to reach.

Couple that with the fact that when I left the dungeon today for the third time, it was nightfall and on my way back to the inn, I saw from a distance the Goddess Hestia.

Dressed in her short white dress, with black hair in twin tails with blue ribbons.

Though from the despondent look upon her face, the timeline I found myself in, was before Bell had arrived in the city.

But probably after Hephaestus had kicked the goddess out of her home, seeing as she was actively trying to recruit members to her non-existent familia.

Seeing that Neme could only pencil in his head that if he succeeded in the slaying of Soma and extending his lifespan beyond the next five days, he would get to witness the events of the media material first hand.

Perhaps even use his power to influence those events to prevent the greater tragedy's from happening in the first place.

As his footfalls fell across the stone roadways of Orario returning to his room, Neme went over the list of gods he knew to exist within Orario at this time.

Of course this list was not complete seeing as how he could only recall the names used in the books and anime's which amounted only to thirty-seven gods, a far cry from the complete pantheon of all gods currently residing in Orario, and that also doesn't account for the gods living outside of Orario.

Afterall while Orario is the only city in the world with a dungeon, that does not mean it's the only human city in the world, and certainly not the only city in the world housing gods.

An example of that would be Hera, and Zeus who were exiled from Orario after their failed subjugation of the black dragon which resulted in the complete annihilation of their familias.

Allowing Freya and Loki who hadn't participated in the battle to have greater power than the former leaders of Orario, and enforcing their exile.

Securing their own positions as the new number 1 and 2 in the city.

Given that Danmachi lore pulls gods from various sources, the total number of gods should be in the hundreds, though some might never descend from heaven, while others have already been forced to reascend.

Of the known gods and goddesses, Neme had already marked at least four for elimination to fit the requirements of his god slaying system.

Soma was the first, and easiest for him to secure the demise of.

After that the other gods and goddesses on his mental hitlist was comprised of: Ikelos, Thanatos, Ishtar, when she arrives in a few months time Kali, Ares, Njord, Erebus, Prometheus, Resheph, Dionysus and Freya.

Eleven gods and goddesses in total.

Accounting for close to a third of the gods he knew in Orario, or that would be from the progression of the canon material.

Though some of these 'targets' were more of options, the Neme wouldn't feel bad about slaying compared to others.

Targets such as Ares who was just a hothead, getting into trouble by reacting first and never bothering to think about it before, or even after for that matter.

Then there was Njord, a god who does good but also bad, he's a god whose involved in smuggling illegal materials and substances, but he's close to Loki and assisting Riveria before he moved to Orario.

And lastly Prometheus who was a Dumbledore sort of character who was willing to do anything for 'the greater good' even if that meant sacrificing a fellow goddess instead of finding quite literally any other method to purify the primordial flame when it becomes corrupted in the future.

Three optional targets, while eight absolute targets existed.

Assuming that each level up would require the slaying of only a single god, this meant he had a complete list and could even allow two of his targets to continue living while he would reach Level 10 himself, and reaching a transcendence point that no human had reached before.

Though the rate at which he could advance would hit a wall eventually, even if his power right now was equivalent to a mid-rank level 2 adventurer, by the time he reached his true limit, he might reach low to mid rank level three in terms of power, once he completes the level up to Level 2 that power should soar from low-mid to mid-high possibly even peak Level 3 and that was before he'd even started to farm points once more.
