Chapter 14 - V1 Chapter 12:

The dungeons depths were being cleared extremely quickly, by Neme he was still in his first week as a freelancer, and yet he was already even as a solo diver arriving on the seventh floor.

Though the great change that was noticed was that the number of monsters he could absorb crystals from was greater than on the earlier floors.

Floors 1-4 he could absorb only five hundred points worth per floor.

But starting with the fifth and then again on the sixth.

The limit was raised, 750 was the new limit and thanks to that his stats had surged by 1,500 just from these two floors.

The other advantage found was the true stat limit.

2,000 was the maximum amount he could allocate points to one parameter.

With his agility maxed out, boosting his endurance became the new priority, coupled with strength.

Thankfully Neme belonged to no familia, since if it was known just how fast his growth speed was, every god would let their greed be exposed.

But as a falna-less person, the gods had to real jurisdiction over him.

And besides a few guild employees no one else within the dungeon would ever know he was one with the blessing of a god.

The continued boost to his agility especially with it reaching max rank, allowed the return journey that should have taken 30 minutes to only take 5 when running.

This newfound speed would allow his repeated progression to once more reach a new rank as well.

But thankfully he still had four and a half days left to continue his growth, in that time he would no doubt easily be able to deal with all the level one, and scant few two's of the Soma familia, the bigger issue would be after slaying a god, no doubt the other divine beings within the city would know about the slaying and within minutes an investigation team would be dispatched, by Oranos, Loki, Freya, and Ganesha.

With maxed out speed equivalent to a level 3 adventurer Neme could get away sure, but with Werewolves, Catkin, Dogkin, and various other beastkin forces available with enhanced tracking capabilities his getaway would become even more difficult, so of those four and a half days he'd need to commit at least one to the killing itself, then one more to the acquisition of compounds and potions capable of eliminating his scent, and his traces for once the deed is done.

That left his with just about two more days of diving, before he'd reach his limit of waiting and need to make a decision.

At his average point growth rate, he could manage to cap one perhaps two more stats by that time, and his assets would reach another couple hundred thousand, allowing for the replacement of his third-rate weapons should they sustain fault, or purchase of the assassination tools required to complete the deed assigned to him.

~

Jumping ahead two days

Neme continued his insane pace of the dungeon, by the end of his dives Neme had managed to reach the eleventh floor.

With the kill cap being increased on the eight floor, and again on the tenth.

Thanks to this increased limit, his stat parameters were near the absolute limit.

But as much as he wanted to carry on with diving using even a few more hours of his remaining fourty-eight he knew his life was quite literally on the line here so rather than risk failure due to chasing stats that didn't matter.

He ended the dives.

Emerging into the early morning air with a backpack filled to bursting with the drop items: Orc Hides, Silverback fur, Hard Armored Shells, even a few Infant Dragon scales, and claws.

The gained drops would be the funds required to purchase his new clothes, potions, and substances required to pull of the assassination of the Decade.

Within fourty-eight hours, for the first time In fifteen years, at least in Orario a god would disappear from the world.

Except rather than being forced back to heaven like during the Dark age that lasted from twenty to seven years ago, this god would be slain, his divine power unusable to him, and his immortal life ceasing to exist.

The first stop was the black market to sell of the dungeon drops, then one his wallet was flush with cash once more, he would hit a number of locations.

God Miach's Blue Pharmacy for scent removal potions, the open market to find the tool that would be mass produced and therefore unable to be tied to himself as the murder weapon of a god.

Then the purchase of new disposable clothes, ones that would allow him to sneak like an assassin in the darkness of the night.

And then the last thing?

Training.

He presently had experience with charging through the dungeon like a bull in a china shop, but for the slaying of a god, especially since he would be outnumbered, and slaying something real for the first time.

Neme wasn't about to leave this up to chance.

Getting approval to leave the city from the guild guards at the city gates, he entered the wilderness surrounding Orario.

Unlike what most would think, monsters existed outside of the dungeon.

The reason?

Well Orario didn't always exist, and even then a thousand years ago when the first generation of heroes fought with the Black Dragon of the End, they managed to wound the beast at the cost of their lives.

Injured and unable to fly anymore the Black Dragon crashed to the ground, but rather than risk the pesky ants constantly nipping at its heels while trying to recover, the dragon tore its way through the original Orario, and broke into the dungeon, diving down into its depths seeking refuge on the bottommost floor where it slept, before the second generation team of Heroes dove into the dungeon to finish the Job the first generation started.

They met with the same fate as the original heroes, but they did manage to buy the world time.

Sealing away the Black Dragon, delaying its recovery and emergence into the world once more.

But even with that, the world failed to kill the dragon on successive hunts.

Even sealed the black dragons will and intent had integrated with the dungeon, making it so that even the last generation of heroes.

Those from the Zeus and Hera familias were stumped and forced into a retreat on only the seventy-first floor.

With a level 9, a few level 8's, dozens of level sevens, and sixes falling to the trap laid by the Black Dragon.

What followed was the dark age, over a decade of war ending countless high level adventurers, resulting in the up and coming generation being hailed as the new 'heroes' of the city, but even after a decade of training and diving, their potential peaked at level 7.

Thanks to the Black Dragon causing the devestation all that time ago, monsters managed to escape from the dungeon and take up roots outside the city and spreading into the world at large.

While the monsters would disintegrate just like those in the dungeon, their power was paltry compared to those born of the dungeon.

A result of splitting their own magic stones with their offspring, successively getting weaking over the generations, save for when an unlucky adventurer was slain and their excelia could be converted into power usable by the miasma driven monsters.

For Neme, these monsters would be a training scene.

The reason being is unlike I the dungeon, the monsters of the world, bled, and acted like they were really real, all save for the disintegration that happens after their demise.

Though the disintegration is not immediate, seeing death, death caused by his own hand was the purpose.

Make it so he wouldn't freeze up or hesitate to take a life when the chance presented itself.
