Nora's POV
"Forgive me," Dmitri murmurs, stepping back with a slight bow. "We haven't been properly introduced. I am—"
"I know exactly who you are," I cut him off. The massive stone door behind me groans shut, its echoing creak the only sound breaking the suffocating silence of this cursed place.
"Where is James?" My eyes squeeze shut as memories flood back—the last time I saw him climbing onto that damned horse. God, I'd give anything to go back and stop him. "The Horsemen. What have you done with them?"
"You're here for the vampire." Dmitri studies me with unsettling curiosity. "We've been expecting you."
"We?" My heart hammers against my ribs. "You mean James? Where is he? Tell me he's alive." Tears blur my vision despite my efforts to stay strong. "Please, he's my husband and I love him more than my own life. I just need to know he's okay."
"He's a Horseman."
