Chapter 128 - Chapter 129 I…Want…

In the end, Skye still chose to believe the Ancient One. Besides the fact that Finney Hellseg seemed capable of such a thing, she couldn't think of any situation on Earth that could prevent Finney from even sending a message.

However, besides Skye worrying about Finney's safety, the staff at Nick Fury's base were even more worried about Finney, to the point of collective hair loss.

"We can't even be sure where he was taken by the energy!"

In the laboratory area of the base, where security was several times higher, a staff member from the Cosmic Cube project couldn't help but complain to his colleague in a low voice, "And it's been over a week, even if we find him, is he still alive?"

  "Keep your voice down."

Another staff member glared at the man and also whispered, "He's a Divine Punishment Knight, maybe the armor isn't even human, he doesn't need to eat or drink, otherwise why would the director insist on pinpointing his location?"

  "Sigh!"

The man seemed to agree, sighed, and continued working.

Unbeknownst to them, their conversation was being monitored, or rather, everyone's conversations and actions were being listened to. Nick Fury had gone to great lengths to ensure no further problems arose.

"Do you think he's really still alive?"

Hill asked suddenly, glancing at Nick Fury beside her, whose expression remained unchanged.

  "I don't know, but I hope he's alive."

Nick Fury sighed, seemingly making a decision, and looked at Hill, saying, "Come with me to the infirmary; I want to conduct an experiment."

Hill, puzzled, followed Nick Fury to the infirmary.

"Carefully examine my condition. If anything abnormal happens, make me unconscious as quickly as possible,"

Nick Fury solemnly instructed Hill as he lay on the operating table.

"I don't understand what you mean."

Hill, holding a syringe, stared blankly at Nick Fury.

  "Just do as I say!"

Nick Fury didn't explain. After connecting the various instruments for examining the body, he took a deep breath and said to Hill very slowly, "I…want…to…tell…you…" As soon as the word

  "God…"

came out, Nick Fury immediately looked nervously at the instruments examining the body, but there was nothing wrong. He breathed a sigh of relief, but also felt a little disappointed. Then he continued,

  "Punishment…"

  The body was still fine.

  "The…knight…is…Phine…!"

Having uttered the complete sentence, Nick Fury felt nothing unusual throughout. After waiting another ten minutes, he sighed silently, removed the instruments from his body, and looked at Hill, who looked surprised and somewhat bewildered, saying,

"Let's lift the order to search for the Divine Punishment Knight with all our might!"

Nick Fury hoped to use the power of Phine's 'oath' to test whether Phine was still alive, but he didn't know that this was actually Phine's deception, which made him suspect that Phine was already dead.

However, he didn't completely give up. Perhaps the oath's distance was limited, which is why it hadn't taken effect. So he continued, "Then arrange for a team to continue locating it."

  "Yes!"

Hill nodded, then couldn't help but ask curiously, "What were you doing just now?"

"Verifying whether his power was still effective."

Nick Fury didn't want to elaborate and continued, "Maintain the base's vigilance, strictly control all personnel entering and leaving, and absolutely do not let your guard down."

"But who exactly are we guarding against?"

Hill asked, frowning. Strict security and a tense atmosphere would affect their work, not to mention the unimaginable manpower and financial resources required.

This place was originally a research and development base, but now it's practically become a military exercise base.

  "Aliens!"

Nick Fury pointed upwards and replied, "He told me this thing originally belonged to aliens, and they might come to take it, so I called him over."

If Finney were here, she would definitely deny it in her mind: I never said that, you're just guessing!

  "I understand, sir!"

Hill replied seriously. Although she often questioned Nick Fury's decisions, she strictly adhered to them when they were correct.

Leaving the base, Nick Fury was still thinking about Finney. He knew Finney had an older sister, and he hesitated whether to go see her.

After much deliberation, Nick Fury finally decided to see Skye.

First, he felt Skye was Finney's closest person and it was necessary to inform her; second, he wondered if Skye might have some special way of knowing Finney's current situation, since he still hadn't fully understood all of Finney's secrets.

Nick Fury didn't dare use his agent's methods to infiltrate Finney's house. Although he wanted to give Skye a unique entrance, considering Finney's mysterious abilities, he ultimately knocked on the door.

  "Coming!"

Skye opened the door, looking surprised to see Nick Fury. "Who are you?" she asked.

"Hello, I'm Nick Fury, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D."

Nick Fury immediately revealed his identity, and seeing Skye's instantly wary gaze, continued, "I want to talk to you about your brother."

"Sorry, I don't know you. Please leave!"

Skye's face showed a hint of panic. She thought Finney had been exposed somewhere and her identity had been discovered.

Because Finney didn't want Skye to have contact with S.H.I.E.L.D. for the time being, although she told her she had made contact with the authorities, she hadn't specifically mentioned S.H.I.E.L.D.

Seeing Skye about to close the door, Nick Fury quickly said, "I'm his friend!"

  "You know each other?"

Hearing this, Skye stopped, but she wasn't easily convinced. She said, "He's out right now and might not be back for a while."

"I came to talk to you about this."

Hearing this, Skye seemed to suddenly realize something and stared at Fury in the doorway, asking, "Do you know where he went?"

"Could we talk about this inside?"

Nick Fury asked, peeking at Skye through the crack in the door.

Skye hesitated for a moment, but glancing down at the 'silver light' on her wrist, she finally opened the door, letting Nick Fury into the house.

  "Cola!? Orange juice!? Or tea?"

Skye asked hospitably in the living room.

  "Tea!"

Skye took a bottle of green tea from the refrigerator and placed it in front of Nick Fury. Then, as she subtly raised her hand towards him, she asked, "Do you know where Finney went?"

"I knew ten days ago, but not now!"

Nick Fury said, opening the green tea. But as soon as he finished speaking, Skye stood up, looking anxious, and asked, "Where did he go?"
