Retsu's POV. -- 20th of September -- 2407 --

[Hinode City]

Life, as of the last month have been hectic to say the least.

First of all, i got enrolled into a kindergarten within the city, a place that houses many children my physical age, but not the same for my mental one,

'I regret not trying to convince them to not enroll me... ' Currently, I'm within a car, being driven to the hell dubbed as Kindergarten.

'Well at least i managed to save a poor soul from her tragic original fate, ' As I'm thinking of her, the car gets before the front gates of the Kindergarten, the driver, –a woman in her mid twenties who drives me here everyday, opens the door for me to exit the vehicle.

It's early, –atleast 30 minutes earlier than when classes start, but i wanted to be earlier than the other miscreants, preparing my mind for the unreasonable questions and silly, meaningless games they try to make me play, –failing at doing so of course.

As i exit the car, i look forth to the facility that's become nothing short of hell to me this past month.

'I really should find an excuse to ditch this, ' a kid runs by me, someone from my class, somone i don't know the name of. "Hey! Move it you slowpoke! " He yells, before getting chided by his father who's taking him until the school gates.

'Yeah, i really should convince them to get me out of this hellhole,' as I'm pondering my grand plan of ditching this hell, I'm interrupted again, this time though by a presence I've come to know and slightly appreciate,

"Ah! Good Morning Retsu-chan! " A squeaky voice yells from my side, making me glance that way. "Oh, good morning, Himiko-chan. "

That's right, the person that's now come and interlocked her hand around mine is Toga Himiko, a would-be villain in the far future if not for my interference. She is also the reason why I've not become too adamant about ditching kindergarten yet.

"What did you bring for launch today? " She asks eagerly, her yellow, slitted eyes bright in wonder. 'She easily gets exited over the most simplest of things, '

"I don't know actually. My Nanny made my launch before i saw what was inside first. Guess we'll find out during launch, "

"Ohhhh~ mystery! As for me, i brought stickless chicken skewers and rice! Don't worry, I'll share with you if yours isn't good. I asked for extra from Mom to make! "

We enter the halls of the facility and head into class, my mind kinda wandering to the first day i got here.

'Back then, i was a little surprised to see her in the same class as me. And she used to act so differently around me or others.

Granted, it wasn't really her fault, the nature of her quirk, –something she cannot control, made her kinda isolated from the other kids. Her parents I'm sure, weren't helping her either, considering the things I've read about her and seen of her back in my second life.'

We get to class and slide open the sliding doors, entering the room and going to our seats. "Ne ne! Retsu-chan! Let's play Hero and Villain today! Just you and me! Okay? " Himiko asks, "I'll be the villain, and you can be the hero! " She says, making me ponder,

"Alright. Whatever you want, Himi-chan" I use the nickname we came up with, something she made me promise to only use when there are only the two of us, –an unreasonable request considering there is no harm in using nicknames around others.

But i won't complain because it's what she's comfortable with.

We continue chatting for a while, mostly her who blabbers on about nothing and everything. And before we know it, time passes by and classes begin, the other kids having come inside after a while.

The teacher is the last to get inside, her name is Mrs. Yukimora, a woman who has light brown, shoulder length hair and brown eyes.

"Alright class, settle down. The bell rang already so let's get to our seats. " Not long after, classes begin and the day passes bye.

At launch, me and Himiko take our launch boxes and go outside, something she wasn't used to doing before i came here.

We go under a big tree and sit down, the grass under us being soft and comfortable. We open our bento boxes and see the contents within.

For me, it seems my nanny has put a lot of thought into making it as nutritious as possible.

it's a bento filled to the brim with nutritious food. white rice blended with red rice and sesame seeds, teriyaki wagyu beef, chicken and liver tsukune, tamago-yaki enriched with spinach puree, butter-steamed edamame, broccoli florets, silken tofu cubes with soy and bonito flakes, strawberries, halved Shine Muscat grapes, black sesame and honey energy bite.

All of these stuff works together to replenish nutrients, support accelerated blood production, and help me in regaining vitality after I use my quirk a lot.

It may look a lot, but because of the way my or any of the Benihana family members quirks work, our body demands high calories to be able to support our quirks's high energy cost.

"Wow! Like always it's so much Re-Re! " Himiko says, making me smile her way.

She brought stickless teriyaki chicken skewers and white rice. For protein heavy stuff, she brought Tamago-yaki rolls and some veggies as side dish.

It's to an amount that would fill her belly the whole day, while also being a little extra like she promised earlier today.

'Ah, my inner analytic mind is working overdrive again. I should really drop this habit of looking so much into things. ' i shake my head, before we start with our launch.

.

..

...

"Alright class, as you all know, after launch is when we have free periods for you to play as much as you want, right? " Mrs. Yukimora asks, getting a chorus of yeses from the class,

"But unfortunately today, we won't be able to do that. " She shakes her head in mock pity, trying to rile up the class with her theatrics.

She gets choruses of dissaproval from the children, –all 4 to 5 years of ages, and she doesn't wait for them to escalate further before she tells them the reason for the change of plans,

"Today, we will be looking at heroes on our class TV! Specifically the top 10 being announced! " She tells them, getting the children excited the moment the word hero exited her lips.

"Woooooah! Heroes! " "I can't wait to see them! " "Hawks is the best! I'm sure he'll be Number one this time! " "No way! All Might is the coolest! So he should stay as number one! " "No way! It's gonna be Ryukyu! Dragons are the coolest! "

(P.S/ a friend in the comments section pointed out that Hawks and Ryukuyu are too young to be in the hero rankings currently, And i agree.

I made a blunder here not paying attention to the timeline I've established so I'm very sorry.

I won't be changing this but i ask that you ignore those parts here because then it wouldn't make sense. Sorry again.)

And so, the chorus begins.

Throughout my stay here in this hell, i have dedicated my life in learning the art of complete focus erasure, a sacret technique that allows the user to completely space out, not seeing nor hearing anything that those around them says or does.

It's a technique of grand purpose, and i have honored it's use in the most grand way possible, 'complete and utter silence in a room full of demons. '

I take a deep breath and exhale, my mind going silent with no sound in my vicinity. 'First, visualize the most silent place you've visited in your life, ' a green and grassy hill comes to my mind, 'now go, and sit right in the center of this hill.

Feel the wind brushing through your hair, let it guide your toughts away, let them drift away, forgotten for a while. Let your body and spirit rest...

... Yes, you are now at peace... You are now one with the univer-' "Ne ne! Benihana-san look! It's your dad on the screen! NE NE! "

Inhale, Exhale

'Sighhhh, if only it was that easy, ' my eyes open, feeling the arm that's shaking my right side, seeing the girl that's sitting on my other side, a blonde girl with long elf like ears.

I then look to the screen, and see that my father, Redvein: the lifeline hero, is being announced as the new number 5, climbing the ranks once more and entering the top 5 in the country.

'It was inevitable. My father is somone who's too dedicated to this hero work. Saving any person he comes across, solving so many cases, and being an overall people's person has now helped him climb to the top 5. '

Despite knowing already that he'd get to the top 5, i still can't help the smile that forms on my face. It makes me happy to see somone i care for, become successful in what they like doing.

Anyways, after my father, the other 4 ranks above him get accounced as well, with All Might at number 1, and Endeavor in second place, like always.

Once the announcements are over, school ends and we get ready to go home. Himiko's place is close to the school so she heads back on foot.

We get to the front gate of the school, i say goodbye to her before going in the car. Today though, i don't plan on going back home just yet.

"Mrs. Shinku, please go to my Mother's hospital. I want to go see her before going back home. " I tell the driver, who turns around to look at me, "are you sure, young mistress? " She asks, making me nod, "very well then. "

She starts the engine and we head to Shuzenji Hospital.

.

[Third Person POV. ]

The day for the head doctor, –Benihana Kie, has been a hectic day to say the least.

Here at Shuzenji hospital, which is situated within the heart of Hinode City, the hospital gets a lot of patients, mostly elderly because of the population of the city being mostly of elderly people.

Just now, Kie got out of another room with a patient who has started developing hearing problems. She had a little problem while communicating with the elderly, but now it is her break time so she's here, inside her personal office, going through her phone and the live news she missed of her husband getting promoted into the top 5.

'At least one of us is getting promoted' she smirks in amusement, though she can't really promote herself, beinghead of the hospital and everything.

Just when she was going through her phone, just scrolling about, the door to her room gets knocked and a blonde head sticks her head in, her light blue eyes bright, Shuzenji Aimi, Kie's cousin sticks her head in. "You have a visitor~" She sing songs, making Kie curious.

"Who is it?" She asks, getting a shrug from her cousin, " Eh, you'll find out in a sec~" She opens the door fully, letting a tiny head full of long Abyss Black hair inside the room, before she closes the door behind her, leaving behind the duo of lookalikes inside the room.

Kie,upon seeing who it is, puts her phone down and gets up, her smile bright along with her eyes."welcome! I wasn't expecting visitors. " Despite her words, her smile is infectious as she scoops up Retsu into a hug, with the little girl hugging her back.

"I wanted to suprise you with a sudden visit. " Is Retsu's reason, "well consider me suprised sweet-heart, " Kie laughs a little before putting Retsu down on the couch, she herself sitting besides her.

"Now tell me the real reason you're here, darling~" Her tone is amused, as if seeing right through Retsu, making the little girl sigh.

"Can't i just visit my mama whenever i want? " Retsu asks, getting a shrug from the woman. "You could, but then you wouldn't suddenly come out of nowhere like this. Also, you wouldn't call me sweetly like you just did now. " Kie's tone is amused, her smile bright.

"So? What's the real reason you're here" Kie asks, making Retsu turn quiet.

'It's now or never.' Retsu steels her heart, and tells her mother the request. "I want to be a doctor. I have the means to become one right now. The only problem is my age, but i can just take the exam. There is no rule depicting i can't just because of my age, not since quirks manifested all those years ago.

I just have to prove i have a mind boosting ability, and that's already been put into my Quirk description so there is no problem there either. " Retsu tell her mother, making the woman's face freeze,

Memories of that incident comes back to her mind, making the woman overprotective and scared for her child's safety.

"No dear. Like I've said before. You are too young to be thinking of these things. Look, if you really want to become a doctor, you'll have to wait until you're older, atleast until you go to highschool. " She says, turning down Retsu's request.

Retsu's mind goes on to her plan B, "i thought as much, " She says, making the older woman look down at her in confusion, "i knew you wouldn't agree to this. That's why i contacted Aunt Chiyo to come and talk some sense into you. " Just then, the door to the room is opened and in walks an elderly pro hero.

"It has been a while, you wild miscreant. " The heart of UA High school, The Youthful Pro Hero, Recovery Girl --Shuzenji Chiyo-- is here.

Kie quickly gets up, her body tensing, "i-i wasn't expecting other visitors? " Kie's mind has already gone defensive, her intuition telling her nothing good will come from this interaction.

"Wow! Never coming to visit in months and the first time I do, this is the welcome i get? Not even a hello or welcome, but straight up why are you here? Tch! Children these days, no respect for the elderly! " The elderly pro hero complains, leading to Kie frowning while looking down at her sitting daughter.

Retsu avoids eye contact before she gets up, going towards Her Great-aunt, –somone who's actually the same height as herself, and gives her a hug. "It's nice to see you, Aunt Chiyo. I'll be outside for you two to catch up and talk with one another. " She says, before exiting the room, leaving behind the duo.

After seeing her off, Chiyo turns back around, looking up to see the face of the girl she taught the art of healing, and saw to her growth since her mother's –Chiyo's own sister's, passing all those years ago.

"Well? What are you waiting for girl? No tea or anything? No hugs to welcome me to my own hospital? " Chiyo chides, though there is no venom in her voice, just amusement and teasing.

Kie let's out a sigh, before she goes forward, crouching down to chiyo's level, and giving her a hug. "It's good to see you, Mother. I just wasn't expecting visitors is all. You know how much i hate suprises. " Kie says, making Chiyo sigh and laugh at the same time, "i know kiddo, i know. "

They part before going to sit properly, the duo facing one another, Kie having ordered for tea to be delivered before they did so.

"So, what brings you here? UA high is pretty far away for you to be visiting just for the sake of visiting. " Kie asks, making Chiyo smile lightly, her wrinkled face becoming more wrinkly, and her oldened visage gaining a little vitality back.

"Ah! Nothing in particular, just a little problem I've had with my back recently. It's started hurting these back few days and so i thought, why not go and visit my family while also have it checked out, you know what i mean? " She smiles.

Just then, the door is opened and in walks Aimi, Chiyo's daughter and also the head secretarian of the hospital. She and Kie are the ones who are running this hospital. In Aimi's hand is a tray with two cups of tea with snacks.

Aimi puts the tray down on the table before hugging Chiyo, "it's good to see you mother, " She then smirks while looking at Kie, "Here to put an end to the stubborn Ki-Ki~?" She teases, making Kie fume, "I'm Not Stubborn! " Kie yells out, making the woman laugh, "haha! See. stubborn~" She says before going out of the room,

"I'll leave the mission impossible to you, mother~" She sing songs before exiting the room, making Kie sigh and Chiyo laugh a little.

"Ah, she's just like her father, that girl. " Chiyo shakes her head, blowing on her tea before taking a sip.

Kie looks up, "so, the real reason you're here is because of that. " She says, making the elderly woman shake her head with a sigh, "sigh, look at what lengths you've made your daughter go to to convince you of letting her chase her dream, " Chiyo says, making Kie frown,

"But she isn't ready. " She demands, making the older woman frown too, "and so weren't you when you were young. " She says, making the younger doctor pause, her eyes widening.

Chiyo continues, "I'm not telling you on how to educate your child, my dear, but atleast don't make her go to extreme measures in order to make you understand. " Chiyo is now looking up, right at her own daughter's eyes,

"I remember when you were her age. You used to be such a ball of disaster. You made my old bones worry so much. " She says, making Kie look up, "yes exactly! She isn't ready! I don't want her to fail like i did-" , "And you think becoming an obstacle in her path is going to make her succeed? " Chiyo cuts her off,

"My dear. In all my years of living, i have never once regretted letting you go throughyour failures. " She says, "failure makes character. Now as a mother, you are allowed to worry, to feel worried when your child is going through her dreams. But never should you become an obstacle in their path.

Doing so will make them resent you. It will build a gap between you two. Don't be in her way, support her and let her find her path herself. " Chiyo says, making Kie frown further.

"But i was different. I-i didn't have a choice, or-or- " , "No, you had the choice of leaning on me, my dear. You had the choice of letting me help you, atleast until you were older.

But you didn't. After my sister's passing, you build a wall around yourself. An impenetrable wall that didn't let anyone in anymore, nor you out. " Chiyo holds Kie's hands, seeing the woman tearing up,

"You two may resemble each other in appearance, but she isn't you. And i know that incident a month ago has made you more scared of leaving her behind, like what happened to you, but you can't always be the shelter for Retsu to be under of. Someday, that tiny bird will have to flap her wings, leaving the nest and her mother behind.

And it is the duty of the mother bird to ready her chick for that day. " Chiyo is smiling up at Kie, seeing the younger mother crying her hearts out.

"I'm scared, Mother... I'm scared of losing her like i lost Mother... " She says, putting her head on Chiyo's shoulder now, making the pro hero stroke her hair, sooting her daughter in all but name,

" I know, my dear. I know. But you also know that you can't protect her forever. Retsu is a big girl herself. She understands what she wants whenever she wants it. I'm sure that she knows what she's getting herself into."

Wiping her tears away, the Matriarch of the Benihana Family lifts her head up, her eyes now decided and fierce, but no less hiding the motherly worry under it. "Alright. I guess since she has decided on becoming the youngest doctor, i have no choice but to support her in her journey. It is my duty as her mother after all. "

Kie isn't smiling, she isn't happy about the decision, but she also knows that Retsu's life is hers to decide, not Kie's. She has already thought her the difference between bad and good, the decision is now up to Retsu to decide what she wants to be.

"Alright. now that that's out of the way, Mother, lie down on the couch, let me see your back. " Kie says, wiping the last rays of her tears now.

"Finally! Thought you'd forgotten about the real reason I'm here! " And the grumpy old pro hero decides to rear her head out, making Kie smile a little.

Meanwhile, outside the room...

"So! Did they really do it? " Aimi is chatting with Retsu on the secretary counter a few feet away from the room, her hands under her chin as if listening to a story.

"You know you shouldn't be talking about these stuff with a 4 years old, right? " Retsu asks, making Aimi motion her hand, as if swatting away a fly, "ah details details! And besides, you wanna be a dcotor soon right? So you gotta know these stuff already! What's the harm in you talking about it with me? " Aimi says,

"Sigh, i know what you're doing, you're gathering ammunition to tease my mother later, " Retsu says, making Aimi Smirk, "But it's not happening. What i hate more than anything, is snitching. I won't snitch on my own mother, even if you promise me Zetsubō Zings. " Retsu closes her eyes, making Aimi, –who was about to take out a full bag of those treats, pout and put them away.

"Awwwh! your no fun... "

.

..

...

Author's note/ Zetsubō Zings are strong flavored treats, something that Retsu likes. She likes anything thats Strong Flavored.

Anyways! Hope you guys enjoyed the chapter! This one was a little slice of life kinda chapter, and then we see Kie agreeing to letting Retsu become a doctor.

The idea that rules prevent people under the legal age from becoming doctors being lifted since the era of quirks appearing, is something i think would be plausible, considering there are many who's quirks can help make them smarter, so a country not letting their geniuses bloom from a young age would be a very dumb move from their side.

Also, here is a pic of the OC named Shuzenji Aimi

Anyways! Let me know what you think of the chapter and yeah! Have a great day/night! Bye!
