Chapter 18 Gu Yue's Suspicion
"This is your new classmate."
Wu Changkong's words were concise and to the point, just that one sentence, and then he fell silent.
But Lin Xiuran understood immediately from those words: Wu Changkong wanted him to join Class Zero.
Class Zero was a class established by Donghai Academy with all its resources; it wasn't a place for just anyone. But now that Wu Changkong had brought him here, it meant he had already spoken to the academy and Ye Yingluo, which put Lin Xiuran at ease.
It also conveniently allowed him to be close to Gu Yue, fulfilling his promise to Gu Yue.
Without any introductions, Lin Xiuran was directly assigned a seat. Originally, Class Zero had five sets of desks and chairs, but two were gone, leaving an empty space.
Lin Xiuran sat on the far left, next to Gu Yue, then Tang Wulin and Xie Xie.
"The final exams are tomorrow,"
Wu Changkong said without further ado, then left the room.
Xie Xie's expression was somewhat strange: "Teacher Wu hasn't been to the academy for several days in a row, and now he's suddenly giving us an exam."
Tang Wulin laughed: "That's just Teacher Wu's style, but don't overthink it, Teacher Wu's arrangements are all reasonable."
"That's true." As a student, Xie Xie naturally appreciated Wu Changkong's teaching methods, after all, the special training in Class Zero had significantly improved his progress.
"Hey, that new guy, what's your name? How come you suddenly came to our class?" Xie Xie looked at Lin Xiuran with curiosity.
A transfer student had even joined Class Zero, which meant he definitely had something special about him, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to get in.
Lin Xiuran looked at Xie Xie and nodded slightly: "Lin Xiuran, I was recruited by Teacher Wu."
"Oh, so what's your martial soul?"
"Wind Bird."
Lin Xiuran thought for a moment and only answered with this martial soul. As for the Phoenix, it was too high-profile, and probably no one would believe it if he said it now.
Xie Xie asked Lin Xiuran all sorts of questions like a curious child.
At this time, Gu Yue was also observing the boy in front of her. It wasn't the first time she had seen him. But this time, for some reason, she felt a very familiar aura about him.
She hadn't felt this aura before, but now she could definitely feel it.
This made her unable to feel any dislike for the person in front of her, and she even felt very close to him.
This feeling even startled herself. It was very rare for an aura to make her feel close to someone like that; besides the Dragon God, it was only the Golden Dragon King.
They didn't chat for too long. Xie Xie knew his limits, after all, it was the first time he had met Lin Xiuran. He was also a little embarrassed to chat so much. After asking some basic questions, he very enthusiastically offered to take Lin Xiuran to his dormitory.
This was necessary; since he had joined Class Zero, his dormitory definitely needed to be changed. After all, Class Zero had their own dormitories, which were different from those of regular students.
The dormitories for Class Zero were quite nice; each room had only one bed, essentially a single room, and all the necessary amenities were provided, including a private bathroom.
The rooms were the same as those for regular teachers. Clearly, the treatment of Class Zero members was almost identical to that of the teachers.
This completely surpassed his previous four-person room and was far better than the storage room he had in the Xu family home. In the afternoon, Lin Xiuran moved all his belongings from his old dorm room here and even went to see Ye Yingluo. Naturally, she encouraged him to study hard.
After finishing tidying up the dorm, Lin Xiuran intended to rest and then meditate, but then a voice rang in his mind.
"You saw her?"
The cool voice startled Lin Xiuran slightly, then he responded mentally, "Yes."
"When did you wake up? Weren't you asleep?"
There was no immediate response, only a slightly lazy yawn, followed by the voice.
"You were by her side, and her energy replenished me, then I woke up."
Lin Xiuran nodded before continuing, "So, what else do you need me to do next?"
"No need, just maintain your current state..."
After a moment's hesitation, she continued, "Next, I will help you master elemental power. Although you possess these two elements, your elemental control is too poor."
Lin Xiuran didn't accept immediately, but asked, "Logically speaking, someone like you shouldn't be so concerned about me. Why is that?"
Gu Yuena in the sea of consciousness was slightly taken aback, then said, "You don't need to know these things right now. You just need to know that I'm helping you now, and your strength is closely related to my survival. It's only natural for me to help you."
She paused, then added, "If you want to know the reason, I can only tell you that you will have to help me with something in the future. You will naturally know then."
Lin Xiuran didn't ask any further questions, as his current state was indeed quite good. Having a former first-level god as a guide was definitely a huge benefit for him.
Even if he were to be used as a pawn, that was a matter for the future; at least he could help him now.
That very night, within the Sea of Spirit, Gu Yuena began instructing Lin Xiuran.
Her teachings on elemental attributes were meticulous and earnest, and Lin Xiuran listened attentively, finding it quite enriching.
In the next room, the window was open, letting in a cool night breeze. Beside her sat a young girl, Gu Yuena.
Her hair fluttered in the night wind, and her eyes gradually changed, no longer black, but radiating a faint purple halo.
Today, she wasn't concerned with Tang Wulin's affairs; instead, she looked through the window at the balcony of the next room.
The feeling from earlier that day was still vivid in her memory, and her intense curiosity about Lin Xiuran made it difficult for her to sleep.
"What exactly do you possess?"
she asked, her eyes narrowing slightly as she pondered for a moment. Then, she gently extended her palm, and clusters of light pulsed forth. Blue is water, yellow is earth, red is fire, cyan is wind, silver is space, and gold is light. Finally, a deep purple halo leaped up and vanished in a flash.
She sensed her own elemental power and recalled Lin Xiuran's aura; gradually, she felt it matched perfectly.
However, in the end, she shook her head, slightly rubbing her forehead, her eyes filled with hesitation: "How could this be?" (This isn't really part of the plot; it's just a transition.)
