Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 The Elder's Rebuke

A purple light flashed in Gu Yuena's eyes. She gently stretched out her hand and lightly clenched it in the void. A massive surge of spiritual power instantly swept out, and the five Soul Masters chasing Lin Xiuran collapsed to the ground.

After dealing with them, Gu Yuena looked tenderly at Lin Xiuran lying on the ground, her jade hand gently stroking his face, murmuring, "It's so good to see you again."

She then gazed at Ouyang Zixin for a long time, then waved her hand, injecting a stream of energy into her, which transformed into the purple light and merged into Lin Xiuran's body.

At this moment, the sunlight, previously blocked by the dense foliage, pierced through the layers of obstruction and shone upon Lin Xiuran.

A moment later, another figure appeared from the forest, dressed in white with blue hair, possessing a very aloof temperament, yet his face remained icy.

He looked at the people lying on the ground, his brows furrowing slightly, until he saw the unconscious Lin Xiuran. He felt a sense of familiarity and quickly stepped forward.

  "This is... Lin Xiuran!"

  ...

  In the Xu family compound,

Xu Junwen paced back and forth in his study, his face very serious.

Xu Xiaoyu, still dressed in her birthday gown, stood respectfully to the side. However, her expression was also not good, and she kept glancing at the clock on the wall.

To this day, there was still no news from those responsible for killing Lin Xiuran; even his soul communication attempts hadn't been answered.

This inevitably worried Xu Junwen, fearing something unexpected might have happened.

"Father, is there still no news?" Xu Xiaoyu finally couldn't help but ask.

Xu Junwen's expression tightened slightly, and he said in a deep voice, "Don't worry, he's only a dozen or so levels of soul power; what power could he possibly have?"

Although he said this, he was somewhat unsure of himself. After all, too much time had passed; if it were resolved, it would have been resolved long ago. And even if it wasn't resolved, in theory, news should have come, but so far, nothing had arrived.

  "Xu Junwen, get out here!"

A sharp shout rang out, like a thunderclap throughout the villa, instantly startling Xu Junwen and Xu Xiaoyu.

Xu Junwen's face darkened, but he still hurriedly left the room.

In the living room, Xu's mother was trying to appease the clan elder, but to no avail; the elder's overwhelming anger was still evident.

Xu Junwen realized what was happening, but still stubbornly asked, "Clan elder, who has angered you?"

"Who has angered me?" The clan elder sneered, "Do you really think I know nothing about what you've done?"

Xu Junwen broke out in a cold sweat. He knew the clan elder would find out, but he hadn't expected it to be so soon.

Although he was the head of the Xu family, the clan elder was the true power behind the family. If he hadn't been so indifferent to the family's affairs in recent years, Xu Junwen wouldn't have dared to use the family guards.

But if the elder wanted to investigate, he could easily find out what those guards had been doing; the entire Xu family's system was still completely under his control.

It's no exaggeration to say that as long as the clan elder is alive, the entire Xu family isn't truly under his control.

"What did I tell you? Have you forgotten?" the clan elder gripped his cane tightly, angrily rebuking him.

Xu Junwen, taken a few deep breaths, raised his head. For so many years, while he respected the clan elder, he didn't believe he was wrong on this matter.

"Clan elder, you must distinguish who the true bloodline of the Xu family is. Why are you so biased towards an outsider!"

A cold glint flashed in the clan elder's eyes: "You dare mention bloodline to me? He may not have the Xu family bloodline, but I would rather it be in him, not in you."

Xu Junwen's face stiffened, his expression turning grim. He clenched his fists, his face contorted: "Clan elder, nearly ten years! I've been tormented by that woman's curse for so many years, how can I let her son live so peacefully!"      The elder's face turned ashen, and he shouted sternly, "He was just a child back then! What does the curse his mother placed on you have to do with him? Besides, he knew nothing about it."

Xu Junwen fell silent, knowing he was in the wrong. After all, he had promised the elder he wouldn't harm Lin Xiuran. His anger earlier was merely an outlet for the torment he had suffered under the curse for years.

"Back then, if you hadn't forcibly taken her away for your own promotion, you would have been ungrateful!"

Xu Junwen fell silent, unable to refute. The elder was right; he had indeed been blinded by self-interest.

The elder sighed softly. His anger was futile now. He simply looked at Xu Junwen: "Fine. In this generation of the Xu family, only you can carry the great cause. I can only teach you one last time: don't act so recklessly. The Xu family needs to be grounded and move forward steadily."

Xu Junwen stood there, stunned, his eyes glazed over, as if recalling the past.

The clan elder glanced at him, then walked towards the door, his figure somewhat thin and lonely.

But after only a few steps, the elder's face darkened, he coughed up a mouthful of blood, and barely managed to lean against the nearby sofa.

  "Clan Elder!"

Xu Junwen exclaimed in shock, rushing forward.

He and the elder disagreed on this matter, but the elder had watched him grow up from childhood, their bond unbreakable. Moreover, the Xu family's current status in Donghai City was due to the elder's presence.

  At Donghai Central Hospital,

sunlight streamed in through the windows, warm and gentle, illuminating the young man's pale face.

After a long while, Lin Xiuran slowly opened his eyes. The sunlight was somewhat dazzling, and he wasn't quite used to it.

  "Awake?"

The voice was cold, yet somewhat familiar.

When Lin Xiuran's gaze focused, he recognized the white robes, blue hair, and that classic, eternally indifferent face—it was clearly Wu Changkong.

"Teacher Wu, how did you manage to save me?" Lin Xiuran's voice was pale, after all, he had just suffered a severe injury.

Wu Changkong's expression remained unchanged, and he said calmly, "I just happened to be passing by and saved you."

Lin Xiuran truly thought he was going to die, but he didn't expect to be saved. He could only say he was incredibly lucky.

"Teacher Wu, you dealt with those people?"

Wu Changkong raised an eyebrow: "When I found them, they were already lying there, and they were all mentally impaired. They had obviously suffered a huge mental shock."

Wu Changkong actually couldn't imagine how powerful someone would be to be able to make someone mentally impaired with just mental energy.

At the very least, his current level 69 Soul Emperor cultivation was definitely not enough to do that.

Now it was Lin Xiuran's turn to be stunned. If it wasn't Wu Changkong who dealt with them, then who was it, and after dealing with them, they just left like that?

Ouyang Zixin was just like Gu Yuena in her previous life, which was why Gu Yuena saved her life.
