Chapter 48 - Chapter 48 Arriving at the capital

After returning from the theater, Natalie received a call from Grandma Morgan.

"Natalie, do you have time to visit me?" Grandma Morgan's voice rang out through the phone, with an intimate tone, as if she still considered Natalie as her granddaughter-in-law.

She was a little startled, pursed her lips: "Grandma, you already know that I and Samuel are divorced, so I'm afraid it's not convenient to visit you anymore."

The old lady snorted coldly, "What's wrong? It's because that brat has no eyes, but Natalie, you can't stay away from me because of him."

Hearing this, Natalie rubbed her eyebrows, shyly refusing: "Okay, then I'll come to the Capital to visit you sometime this week."

Although she didn't know why Grandma Morgan had suddenly called to visit, she had also planned to go to the capital recently and needed to handle some matters.

Before leaving, she returned to Brooks Mansion.

The butler only thought that she was going back to get her things, and after greeting him, she was about to do his work.

Just after taking two steps, Natalie called him back: "Uncle Eric, how many years have you been in our house?"

Butler Eric stopped, looked at her with a puzzled expression, thought for a moment, and said: "I've been here for sixteen or seventeen years, miss. I've been here since you were little."

"Really..." She squinted: "These days I keep dreaming, dreaming about some things from when I was little, but there are always some things I don't remember."

"What happened when you were little?" Butler Eric was stunned for a moment; his expression was a little strange.

Although it was only for a moment, Natalie still saw it; she quietly clenched her fingers. Sure enough, Butler Eric was also sensible. She was about to ask.

She wanted to say something more, but saw Genesis had already left. "Natalie is back? Why don't you come in quickly?"

She stopped talking, didn't ask anymore, turned her head to look at her mother, called out sweetly, and walked up.

"I'm going to visit you. I'll go to the capital tomorrow."

Genesis frowned slightly, clearly a little dissatisfied with her going to the capital. In her impression, it was because her daughter had married Samuel in the capital, so they had to be apart for three years, but since she had already decided, she didn't ask any more, just sighed, and held Natalie's hand: "Then let your brother take you there, he's filming there."

"Okay." Natalie nodded, then talked to her mother again. It was almost time, so she made an excuse to leave.

---

Early the next morning, Henry came to pick her up.

"Why are you going to the capital again?" Henry asked curiously as soon as she got in the car.

She leaned back in her seat lazily, hearing a soft reply: "Going out."

"Tsk, New York isn't enough for you to play?"

Natalie didn't say anything.

Henry originally planned to go with her, but he answered the phone and left first.

While walking, Natalie changed her schedule and flew to a city near the capital.

She stopped in front of a building, looked at the bustling crowd inside, raised her delicate eyebrows, reached for a pair of sunglasses, and put them on.

Walking through a long corridor, the inside was completely dark, different from the outside. The deeper she went, the fewer people passed by.

She knocked on the door gently. Someone was sitting inside.

Hearing the knock, the man raised his head, then lowered his head to play with his phone as if nothing had happened, not surprised at all by her arrival.

Natalie didn't care much, pulled a chair to sit down, took off her sunglasses, and leaned back: "What about the things I asked you to check?"

"It was sent by that group three years ago." The man replied listlessly, not even bothering to look up.

She frowned, the smile on her face disappeared, and her tone gradually became cold: "Give me something."

The man was stunned. Just as he was about to say something, he met her cold gaze, coughed twice, and his expression gradually became serious: "I only found this much. Someone blocked me from behind, and I don't have the authority."

Hearing this, Natalie's eyes became cold, she curled her lips and sneered: "You are trash, how can you be good?"

The atmosphere immediately turned cold.

The man lowered his head in shame at her words, but didn't dare to refute.

Not getting the answer she wanted, Natalie stood up, put her sunglasses back on, glanced at the man, and coldly said: "Next time you can't do business with me, get lost and go back to country M."

When she arrived at the capital, it was already pitch dark.

She wasn't used to coming home late, so she planned to find a hotel to stay in first.

"Natalie." Suddenly, there were footsteps behind her, then a familiar face gradually appeared before her eyes.

Natalie frowned, standing still, her expression anxious.

"Why did you suddenly come to the capital?" The man's eyes flashed with joy.

Because he had been in New York for many days, the company still had a lot of backlog work that needed him to come back to handle, so he had come back from his night shift last night.

He had just finished talking about the cooperation next door and was about to go out for some fresh air, but he saw a familiar figure. He thought he had misheard, and when he got closer, he realized it was Natalie.

"I've arrived at the capital. Do I still have to inform President Samuel?" Now she no longer has any sympathy for Samuel; her mouth is wide open.

The man's eyes are slightly deep, his Adam's apple twitches, and he says with difficulty, "Don't do that when you see me, I want to talk to you properly."

She laughs softly, thinking of something, not refusing but just smiling at him: "Okay, then I will reluctantly talk to you, listen to you."

Finally, she is willing to talk to him properly, and the corner of Samuel's lips curls up slightly.

An hour later, Natalie looks at the villa in front of her, where he has lived for three years, her face expressionless.

"What do you mean?"

Samuel's eyes flashed a faint light. He said in a low voice, "This is the villa I gave you before. Since it is already given, it is yours. When you get to the capital, you can stay at your house."

"Oh." She sneers, "Since you don't want to talk, there is no need to talk."

Seeing that she is about to leave, Samuel suddenly moved, hugging her tightly.

Facing her cold gaze, he stopped, his eyes softened: "What if I said, I love you? Do you want to start over with me?"

Lately, he kept asking himself, what exactly were his feelings for Natalie?

Perhaps after the divorce, he suddenly became interested in this strange girl. He thought, as long as he forced himself not to see her, not to think about her anymore, he could calm down. But he didn't expect that the emotions in his heart would become even more chaotic, making it impossible for him to escape. Gradually, he also realized what was in his heart. He wanted her, didn't want to see his woman cuddling with other men, and even less wanted to think about her marrying another man in the future. That uncomfortable feeling covered his whole body.
