"Kaito! Your! Childhood! Friend! Is downstairs! Waiting for you!"

It was that same voice again, dripping with enough envy to border on malice. Kaito instinctively reached for his phone to ask his sister what kind of mood she'd worked herself into this time, but the phone was currently in the hands of the "High Schooler."

Actually, she wasn't really "waiting." Elysia had simply finished her stroll, gotten tired, and found a familiar spot downstairs to sip slowly on a cup of milk tea—extra toppings, of course.

Meanwhile, she was casting a wide net in her group of "bad influences," seeing which lucky soul she could reel in to help her kill the rest of the day.

Kaito tapped away at his keyboard. Although technology in this era had developed at breakneck speeds, most jobs still didn't allow for direct neural input.

He opened the chat window with Elysia.

Kaito: "Sis, why don't you find a job or something?"

It wasn't that the two of them were short on money... well, they weren't short on pocket change. But seeing Elysia idling around all day made Kaito genuinely afraid she'd turn into a soft, squishy NEET.

Being a social parasite was one thing—he could support her for the rest of her life if it came to that.

But a social parasite with a mental illness? That was where the fun ended.

Kaito had a strange, inexplicable fear of psychiatric hospitals. What if his sister got brainwashed in there and spent every day holding up a clothes hanger, shouting, "Watch closely, Kaito! This slash will be stylish!"?

Upgrading from Eighth-Grade Syndrome to a quantum superposition of insanity and Chunibyo, ranting all day about how "Humanity will surely defeat the Honkai"... Just imagining that scene made Kaito feel like the future was pitch black.

Elysia: "But I have a two-year gap on my resume. I can't exactly tell them I was at home preparing for pregnancy..."

Why are you so obsessed with that 'preparing for pregnancy' excuse?! Can't you just make something else up?

Though, in all fairness... "preparing for pregnancy" really was the ultimate excuse for a woman. Plus, a new company wouldn't have to worry about you continuing the process—it was practically a positive buff.

Elysia: "And if they ask about my marital status, I can't say 'Done preparing, currently unmarried, living with my younger brother.'"

Elysia: "And then... sob sob~"

Kaito: "[Shocked Cat Face.jpg]"

Kaito: "Sis, does it benefit you somehow to work this hard at ruining my reputation?"

Do you really enjoy this 'ambiguous' atmosphere that much?

While Kaito didn't exactly hate it, the thought of anchoring his entire future while he still had his youth ahead of him made a deep-seated fear creep into his heart.

It was terrifying. Especially since his sister actually had a mental condition—one that seemed to be getting worse. That sudden sense of strangeness and hostility she sometimes showed made Kaito feel completely out of his depth.

Elysia: "[Dragon Roar.jpg]"

Elysia: "I found it, you know. Your notification for the clinic appointment."

Kaito: "..."

How did you find that?

Tragic. Vivo is dead... even the Vivo with the "Privacy Space" feature can't be trusted anymore.

Actually, Elysia hadn't found it herself, but Kaito had made the appointment at Aponia's clinic.

While Elysia suspected Aponia might have faked her reviews, the patient feedback didn't look like bot-talk. In fact, the authenticity of the reviews seemed to have hoodwinked Kaito completely.

Elysia: "Shouldn't you be apologizing right now?"

Kaito: "I sacrificed my precious time to ask around for you, book a doctor, and worry myself sick. Why on earth should I apologize?"

He replied righteously, his fingers never stopping as he deftly swiped the chat app into the background to focus on work.

Meanwhile, he sent a quick message to the clinic to say that the original plan to go racing at Mount Taixuan tonight was postponed. Checking out the clinic took priority.

"Kaito! Look at the company entrance! Elysia knows how to play the guitar!"

Kaito: "..."

Yeah, she did.

And given his sister's off-the-charts "Social Butterfly" stats, Kaito wouldn't be surprised if she held a solo concert in the middle of the city square one day.

Inside the clinic.

Aponia's hand slipped from her chin, her head nodding slightly as the nun in the dreamscape snapped awake from a hazy drowse.

The sky outside was gradually darkening. She continued to strengthen her mental resolve as she walked to the window.

After a while, the roar of a motorcycle made her look out. Elysia was sitting on the back with her hands held high, no helmet in sight, laughing wildly and brilliantly as her long hair whipped in the wind.

"How strange. A pair of siblings with such a good relationship in reality are always at each other's throats in the dreams..."

The anchors to reality were slowly being rediscovered. This distortion of time—between dream and reality—gave her a slight thrill of anticipation.

There was a voice constantly whispering in her ear, like the serpent that tempted Adam to eat the apple. The angel and demon in her heart were in a constant struggle until she suppressed them both with a single metaphorical slap.

Was this Revelation-like dream a sign from heaven or the seduction of a devil...

Lately, she had been using everything she'd ever learned to actively hypnotize herself, trying to piece together all the possibilities from the bizarre fragments of her dreams.

But her subjective agency within the dreams was simply too weak.

Knock, knock, knock.

"Excuse me, is the doctor in?"

"Please, come in."

Aponia smiled gently. Before the patient and the family member arrived, she flipped her name tag over and tucked it into her "fourth-dimensional pocket."

At the very least, she didn't want Kaito to know her name until the conversation was over.

The moment Kaito walked through the door and saw the doctor, he almost turned around to leave.

Someone this young? Who are you trying to fool?

"These are my professional qualifications and relevant resume."

As if expecting the lack of trust, Aponia pushed a tablet forward.

Kaito scanned it, locking onto three records from "Teacher Einstein." The frost on his face melted instantly, replaced by a truly sincere smile.

"Haha, Doctor, you're being too polite! No need for all this."

"Since I chose your place, I obviously have 100% trust in your professional abilities."

Aponia pursed her lips in a shallow smile, choosing not to expose him.

"Should I wait outside then?"

Kaito felt like he'd come to the right place!

Why?

The Einstein Certification! That was a gold-standard endorsement!

"Rest assured, the initial evaluation won't take long."

Aponia's voice was soft, her gaze shifting to Elysia, who had been unusually quiet since entering the room.

"And I see your... 'female friend' here seems to be in a very good mood. Communication should be quite smooth."

She deliberately placed a subtle emphasis on the words "female friend." Hearing this, Elysia immediately played along, lowering her head as her shoulders trembled slightly, as if she were struggling with anxiety.

Once Kaito exited the room with a solemn "My sister is in your hands" expression...

The moment the door clicked shut, Elysia snapped her head up. There wasn't a trace of dejection on her face; she was practically beaming.

"Wow, Aponia! You have to help me talk some sense into Kaito. He insists I have delusions and mental illnesses."

Aponia maintained her gentle smile as she pushed an evaluation form across the desk with her fingertip. "Certainly."

The evaluation didn't last long.

When the session ended, Elysia whispered to Aponia, still feeling uneasy: "See? I'm not sick, right? Really! Not even a little... maybe a bit of ADHD at most."

But Kaito insisted she was ill, and more often than not, she couldn't find a reason to argue back.

"I understand, Ellie."

Aponia's expression was sincere. "How about this: you go out first, and I'll do a quick psychological screening for your brother while I'm at it. What do you think?"

Elysia was instantly delighted. While she didn't think Kaito had any problems, she was very curious about what was going on in his head.

"Hey, bro, the doctor wants you to come in alone for a quick word."

Elysia winked at him. Her eyes weren't red, and there were no signs of crying.

Confused, Kaito walked back into the consultation room.

Aponia confirmed the door was shut tight. Without any pleasantries, she got straight to the point:

"Mr. Kaito, it seems your sister has a rather severe case of delusional disorder."

Only one thought remained in Kaito's mind: I knew it!

Then, a second thought surfaced: Dr. Fal, that old-school otaku, is truly unreliable.

And finally, the inevitable third thought: She needs treatment!
