"Haters, start talking!"
If she could broadcast it to the world, Vill-V would grab the mic and scream right back at those old geezers who had cursed her for "wasting funds."
Do your Great V's weapons work or not?!
Answer me!!!
"Watch out!"
Beside her, Aponia instinctively pulled Vill-V back, narrowly dodging a void lance that whistled past.
"The chance is here!"
Vill-V didn't care that she'd tumbled to the ground. Once a Herrscher's emotions were predicted, the tactical layout had a direction, and victory became a matter of course.
Elysia felt completely numb inside. The chance was here, sure, but don't draw aggro, Vill-V!
Who are you expecting to chase down the Herrscher of the Void?
We've been "bad influences" for so many years, do we not even have this basic tacit understanding? Oh, wait, in this dream, we've only just met...
"I have to admit, you bosses really do have your own unique tricks."
Kaito touched the scorched ground—heat enough to melt flesh. He stood there dazed for a moment, then turned his head. Amidst this purgatory-like scene, his smile was refreshing.
Elysia remained on high alert. "Can't even the death of your companion bring a look of sadness to your face?"
What a heartless monster.
Kaito tilted his head, barely deciphering her dialogue.
"In the end, it was just a Kin."
He never envied the "warmth of ten thousand hearths," because he knew that behind those lights were broken pots and pans... and maybe a sister with a mental condition...
Before Elysia could process the shock of a Herrscher being able to hold a conversation, Kaito's figure vanished again. She pushed her perception to the limit but still couldn't find a trace of him within the city.
"Weapons ready!"
Vill-V's voice crackled over the broadcast, carrying a hint of forced excitement... Wait, Vill-V?
When did she get into the command center? Wasn't she strictly forbidden from entering! Elysia groaned internally, but thanks to the reminder, she did indeed find the Herrscher.
He was outside the city, specifically, right next to Kevin's remains.

Attack Power 0→1
Elemental Overflow 0→1
Ascension 0→1
Kaito slowly typed out a mental question mark. Was this because of the boss, or just his luck?
He had always thought the evolution branches in this crappy game were pitifully few.
"Let's go in order. Elemental Overflow."

Elemental Overflow 1→2
HP 0→1
Attack Power 0→1
Kaito curled his lip. He knew the RNG in this game was garbage.
[Elemental Overflow 2]
Active: Efficiency of utilizing residual energy increased by 40%.
Passive: Initial Magnitude increased by 500*2 HW.
"That's more like it. I was wondering who they were trying to fool with such low Magnitude for a hack-and-slash game!"
He didn't level up, and the Boss truly only dropped two attribute cards. Kaito looked back at the distant defense line, and his figure vanished once more.
Inside the Defense Line.
"Did we win?"
Vill-V was fiddling with the broadcast system; next to her was the Supreme Commander she'd elbowed into unconsciousness.
"Don't raise a flag!"
The mandatory communications officer's voice was trembling. He felt his life was over. His boss was knocked out, and he was being forced to submit to a lawless person like Vill-V.
Murphy's Law manifested clearly at this moment.
The sky suddenly turned dark. Vill-V looked up via the relay cameras.
Meteorites? Don't make her laugh. They'd be crushed to powder mid-air. Did you think your Great V spent all that money just on aesthetics?
Apparently not. The ripples in the sky grew wider. Outside, Elysia felt the moisture in the air and the hard, solid raindrops hitting her face. There was a salty, briny smell of the sea. Her face went deathly pale.
"Vill-V! Where is the Herrscher?!"
Forget it, it was too late!
Flawless flower clusters shot toward the ripples like shooting stars flying in reverse, prematurely breaking the portals that were still charging. Unfortunately, the effect was negligible. The "solid" seawater poured out for a moment, then stopped, returning to a calm state.
Normally, this technique should have been used on the Infinite Corridor, but buddy has a lot of mana! If I truly run dry, I'll just take a nap!
Vill-V froze for a long time. Motherf... you're cheating, aren't you!
"Elysia! In three seconds, fire above the westernmost tower!!!" Vill-V screamed with all her might.
You have such high stats, and you won't fight us head-on?
Have some shame!!!
Three! Two! One!
A precise arrow disrupted the stability of the space ripples. The expanding imaginary channel finally ceased. Everyone's vision went dark.
It wasn't night. It was the color of the deep sea.
A sky full of rain... no, seawater, pouring down like a solid mass under the high pressure of the deep ocean. One could faintly see several... deep-sea fish that didn't exist in records. The reason there were only a few was likely that they were "shallow-water fish" caught in the deluge.
Vill-V was utterly dumbfounded. Huh?
You want me to carry the Atlantic Ocean on my back with only a few months of prep?
This was equivalent to fifty times the load limit of the Great Shenzhou Dam! You only gave me a few months?!
Clinging to an impossible hope, she looked up toward the sky, trembling: "Elysia, you can do it..."
But even the superhuman who could react to such speeds—her flawless dome only held for a few seconds. Stats, in the face of absolute mechanics, collapsed instantly.
It didn't even need a continuous impact. The accumulated pressure of the deep sea could destroy everything in an instant, until the ground subsided and compacted into a solid object capable of bearing such weight.
Finally, outside the defense line.
Vill-V looked at the blood-soaked Elysia. Her lips moved, but nothing came out. Her throat felt blocked; tears fell uncontrollably.
What are you crying for! Pull yourself together! Your friend is dying to save you, move! MOVE! Don't let that damn inferiority and cowardice crawl out now!
"Go... find the Professor." Elysia's voice was thin as a thread.
"Vill-V, you can't die. Go find the Professor..."
The deluge stopped, but not out of the Herrscher's mercy. Given the physics knowledge shown by the Herrscher of the Void, he knew exactly what a joke the so-called "defense line" was when subjected to tons of pressure per square centimeter.
This was the power of the planet itself—the charm of physics.
She was ultimately a creature of flesh and blood. Fighting mechanics with a Herrscher was just too hard. Maybe the "miracle" the Professor originally envisioned was the true main quest line.
"Don't... cry."
Elysia managed to squeeze out a smile. Her bloodied fingers reached up, carefully wiping the tears from Vill-V's face. No matter how careful she was, her small, gore-slicked hand still left blood on Vill-V's skin.
"You are... the greatest inventor, after all..."
She didn't say "let's go together." Both knew it was a pipe dream. Elysia's fading consciousness caught the scent of the coastline again. The Herrscher seemed a bit disoriented after being in the deep sea; after coming ashore, he paused for a moment to find his bearings.
"Vill-V!"
She raised her voice, pleading.
One minute later...
Kaito arrived before the boss.
"Long time no see. I've come to fulfill our promise, Boss."
