Chapter 21 - The Chase

"What did you say!"

Everyone present was shocked. Izo asked suspiciously: "You mean Teach who's in our crew?"

Thatch nodded: "Yes, him, Marshall D. Teach!"

A pirate laughed: "Commander Thatch, have you had too much to drink? Teach would do something like this? Never mind his strength, usually he always hides in the back when we go to war, he's very cowardly!"

Jozu stared at Thatch, whose mouth corner still had blood, and squinted his eyes.

Compared to others, of course he trusted Thatch more.

After all, these commanders were the earliest to follow Shirohige. The reason they were appointed commanders was because of strength on one side, and the other was absolute loyalty.

And that Teach...

"Izo, go check immediately!"

Jozu waved his hand.

Izo nodded, and his figure flashed toward the main ship.

Before long, Izo returned to the beach. His beautiful face was cold: "What Thatch said is true. Both brothers guarding treasure vault number one are already dead. The perpetrator's hand was very decisive and cruel. He's clearly a professional. There are also traces of fighting in the treasure vault."

Jozu's face was enveloped in killing aura. Shining diamond rapidly covered his entire body, and he said decisively: "Pass my order, everyone immediately search for Teach's location. Report immediately after finding the target!"

In the end, he added: "Don't act alone. Wait for reinforcements!"

He was very clear about Thatch's strength. Among the commanders, he might not be considered strong, but he clearly had Vice Admiral-level strength. His Busoshoku and Kenbunshoku Haki levels were also not low. And his two swords weren't far different from Vista the Flower Sword.

However, he was defeated by Teach. This Teach was hiding his strength, and his power was very terrifying.

If he knew that Thatch had actually already died once at Teach's hands, he might be even more shocked.

"Ready!"

All pirates answered loudly, then quickly dispersed. Some searched on the island, and others directly set sail, conducting a thorough search in the surrounding waters.

"What exactly happened?"

Jozu walked quickly toward Shirohige's resting place with a grim face, while asking Thatch.

Thatch sighed: "I couldn't sleep because I drank too much before, so I got up and planned to make hangover soup. Who would have thought I saw Teach sneaking suspiciously toward the Moby Dick. Originally I was already suspicious of this person, so I followed him."

Then, he briefly recounted what happened, but he skipped over the part where he was killed and revived. He only said that Teach was so eager to escape that he didn't realize he wasn't dead yet.

While speaking, they had already arrived at the other side of the island, a newly opened large cave.

This was Shirohige's temporary residence.

Several other commanders also lived here.

Because the distance was quite far, they didn't hear the commotion there.

Meanwhile, Jozu and Izo's team happened to be on duty in the island's security rotation, and they discovered the situation in time.

"Pops!"

Thatch and Jozu called from outside the cave.

Before long, a loud rumbling sound came from inside the cave, as if a heavy object fell to the ground.

Jozu and Thatch looked at each other, feeling somewhat helpless.

It seemed the bed they made for Shirohige was still too small.

Soon, a towering figure in a robe walked out. It was Shirohige.

"What is it?"

Shirohige still looked sleepy.

Thatch stepped forward and said: "Pops, Teach betrayed, stole your treasure, and killed our brothers. He's now fled."

"What did you say!"

Shirohige immediately woke up. His tiger-like eyes widened, and a terrifying strong aura suddenly exploded from his entire body, spreading around. His robe fluttered fiercely without wind.

Jozu and Thatch retreated several steps. Shirohige's aura was too strong, and this was still unintentionally radiated.

"What Thatch said is true. Teach has already betrayed. He's been hiding his strength all along. Actually his strength itself is no weaker than commanders like us. Now he's also eaten one of the Devil Fruits in the treasure vault, and his power has become even stronger."

Jozu nodded confirming Thatch's words.

"Marshall D. Teach?"

Shirohige greatly valued his subordinates, and he remembered everyone's name.

And because Teach's surname had the special code D, of course Shirohige had a deeper impression.

"Ungrateful wolf cub. I should have known from the beginning!"

Shirohige's anger exploded. He couldn't tolerate betrayal the most, and Teach also hurt his subordinates, who to him were his family.

"Children—"

Shirohige roared angrily.

Terrifying sound waves spread instantly. The cave began shaking and cracking, and pebbles fell.

"Pops!"

"Pops!"

"I'm here!"

One by one figures jumped out from the newly opened cave not far from there, and immediately arrived before Shirohige.

Except for First Division Commander Marco, Second Division Commander Ace, and Sixteenth Division Commander Izo who were chasing Teach on the other side of the island, the other commanders were all present.

"Teach betrayed. Immediately find him and capture him alive. I want to ask him directly, was I not good enough to him!"

Shirohige stood still in place, his voice like a great bell as he gave the order. A flash of disappointment and deep pain crossed his eyes.

The commanders were shocked hearing this sentence. They unconsciously tilted their heads and looked toward Thatch and Jozu.

Thatch and Jozu nodded.

"Ready!"

The commanders immediately accepted the order, retreated several steps, and shot out, soon disappearing.

At sea, Teach rowed his small boat with all his might.

The oar in his hand was already moving so fast it appeared blurred, and the small boat shot forward rapidly, leaving a long water trail on the sea surface.

In just ten minutes, he was already far from that island.

"Faster, faster!"

Teach shouted in his heart, and his hand movements became even faster.

Cold sweat filled his forehead.

He knew very well that if he did something like this and was caught by Shirohige, there was only one way out for him, which was death.

And with the Dark-Dark Fruit he just obtained, he was still far from being Shirohige's match.

Suddenly, a shrill bird cry came from the sky.

Teach's face immediately changed. He looked up at the sky.

Visible in the air, tens of meters above him, a white seagull circled, continuously making shrill sounds.

"Damn it! I've been discovered!"

Teach's face became very bad. He extended his hand and grabbed at the air.

Thick darkness transformed into a large hand and shot out, directly absorbing that seagull.

The seagull was immediately swallowed by darkness and disappeared.

But before long, another seagull appeared again and circled. They flew higher, and their numbers were also greater, following closely behind Teach, neither advancing nor leaving.
