Sharon Dalton stared blankly at the bracelet in Rose White's hand, utterly baffled as to how it had ended up in her handbag. While she adored the bracelet and desperately wanted it, she had absolutely not stolen it!
"Impossible! That's impossible! I didn't steal it! It wasn't me!" Sharon Dalton denied frantically.
Rose White looked at her with utter contempt. "If you didn't steal it, then what? Did the bracelet grow legs and jump into your handbag all by itself?"
"How am I supposed to know how it got here? You ask me, but who am I supposed to ask? In any case, I didn't steal it!"
Seeing that Sharon Dalton was still trying to argue her way out of it, Rose White glared at her with utter disgust. "We caught you red-handed, and you're still trying to deny it! Sharon Dalton, do you have any shame at all?"
