Given the cold shoulder, Christal Russell had no choice but to carry her child back to the main house.
"Cecilia, I'm going back to rest for a bit too. Call me if you need anything," Mrs. Quincy said before leaving.
"Okay," Cecilia Adler replied.
The room fell quiet.
The old lady spoke without any reservations. "That sister-in-law of yours is a real piece of work. She targets you, both openly and in secret. Hasn't she been kicked out by your father-in-law several times? Why hasn't she learned to rein it in at all?"
"If she knew how to rein it in, she wouldn't have been kicked out," Cecilia said. "I'm used to it by now. Grandma, it's going to be tough on you when I'm not home during the day."
The old lady chided her gently. "There's no need to be so polite with me."
Cecilia beamed, wrapping her arms around the old lady's neck. "It's not about being polite. I just cherish everything you do for me."
