The two of them had been chatting enthusiastically when a neighborhood woman came over to ask about what happened last night.
Cecilia kept her mouth shut, so the old lady said directly, "That woman has mental issues and has already been sent to a psychiatric hospital. Do you actually believe her? If Cecilia's biological father wasn't really her father, why wouldn't he say so himself?"
The woman agreed awkwardly. To ease the tension, she turned her attention to Cecilia, praising her for looking so radiant and energetic during her postpartum confinement.
Cecilia gave a few perfunctory replies before subtly asking her to leave, using the excuse that she needed to rest.
