Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Prometeus

"Everyone failed except Luna. Including me. We need to find the reasons and improve ourselves. First, we must learn why everyone lost. Especially you, Diana. Why didn't you listen to my orders? I was angry because we lost the training. I couldn't control myself. I apologize."

Diana, "The reason I lost is that I am the weakest person among you. My Cosmyth allows me to expertly use all weapons, but we haven't switched to weapons in training yet. I can only be effective then. Also, I was angry at you. You read your own mind about tactics without listening to anyone."

"Because I thought it was the most logical tactic. And I wasn't entirely wrong. I managed to draw Magni to the center. But your defeat and Magni's unexpected power ruined the plans."

"How many times have you led before? Or how many wars have you been in? Remember, the higher you hold yourself, the harder your fall will be."

"I have led many times before and won numerous battles. You wouldn't want to know the numbers!..."

Neptune, "I also did my best. I had a handicap in terms of the environment. If we had fought somewhere near water, it would have been impossible for him to win. I use the water I use from the air and my own body. This limits my attacks. Han is also not a rival to be underestimated. I've had many trainers so far. Swordsmen from all over the world. None of them were even close to Han's level. He is an absolute monster. I've never known anyone who can use his sword at this level."

Amor, "My powers and Urania's neutralize each other. I've never fought hand-to-hand before! The girl knocked me out with a single blow."

Luna, "Aurora couldn't even get close to me. Her job was already done the moment she entered my field of vision. Then Magni arrived. He appeared next to me before I could focus my bow on him. He couldn't control his speed and was launched into the sky. I saw this as an opportunity and started running away. I've never experienced anything as terrifying as his laughter mixing with the thunder. The moment he hit the building with the speed of his descent, the stairs started to shatter. I genuinely felt like he was going to kill me. Luckily, Han arrived and saved me from being buried under the rubble."

Sol, "In that case, next time we will discuss the tactics all together. My only request is that you don't come to me with absurd ideas and excuses. Also, Diana, talk to Aidoneus. He might be able to arrange the weapon you want for you. I suggest you try your luck."

Diana, "Okay, I'll do that."

Both teams had shared their feelings and thoughts with each other. Feeling full from dinner, everyone headed out to the yard. Magni was looking for Heracles to give him the news of the victory. He looked everywhere in the schoolyard but couldn't find him. He asked Aidoneus where he was.

Aidoneus, "He was sent on a mission."

"A mission?"

"Yes, there was an attempted bank robbery nearby. The person who did it is a Cosmyth user. Since normal people couldn't stop him, they asked us to send someone from our school there. I chose Heracles for this."

"So, is there a chance for us to go on a mission too?"

"Of course. We might inform you and send you on a mission at any moment. However, since you are still raw and untrained, you are on the low-priority list. For example, for now, we would send you for small monsters or if weak magic is involved. If a major incident occurs, they might call all students and teachers for the mission."

"I'm actually looking forward to taking on our first mission."

"You shouldn't be so happy, Magni. After all, your life is always at risk. Unnecessarily putting your life in danger is not a sign of strength, but of foolishness."

Aidoneus said this as if he had lost someone before. Before Magni could ask him about it, Aidoneus had business to attend to and had to leave. As he wandered around and passed the time, he heard someone scream behind him. It was Hecate's voice. He used his Cosmyth and immediately went there. The wind he brought with him fluttered people's clothes. As he tried to understand what was happening, Hecate pointed to the motionless man lying on the ground in a panic,

"I don't know what happened, he suddenly collapsed. Magni, help! Take him to the infirmary, do something!"

"Alright! Leave it to me."

Magni picked up the man lying on the ground and ran to the infirmary. He didn't know who he was. He didn't know what was wrong with him. All he knew was that if he didn't hurry, the man's life would be in danger. When he arrived at the infirmary, he called Selkis and laid the man on the gurney. Selkis paused when she came over. She turned to Magni,

"He's dead," she said and sat down on a chair.

"What do you mean he's dead! Don't say that as if it's a normal thing!"

"Dying is quite normal for him."

"Huh? I don't understand, what do you mean?"

"The person you brought is Prometeus. 2nd year. His Cosmyth allows him to revive when he dies. But there's a condition for this resurrection. He has to die at least once a day. How long has he been dead?"

"About 1 minute."

"Then he will revive soon. Don't worry, it doesn't affect him badly except for his sanity."

Indeed, 2 minutes after Selkis's words, Prometeus revived.

"Ah, my head hurts. Where am I?"

Selkis, "You are in the infirmary, Prometeus."

"Did I die again?"

"Yes."

"And who are you?" he said, pointing at Magni.

Magni, "You suddenly collapsed in the garden, so I brought you to the infirmary. You scared me a lot. Do you really die every day?"

"Yes, unfortunately. It's uncertain when it will happen. It's certain that I will die within the day, but the cause is unknown. I've died too much. I mean, way too much."

"My name is Magni, Magni Hyperaspis."

"Magni? You were the one who went head-to-head with Aidoneus!"

"Yes, haha. Even if unintentionally."

"I am Prometeus, Prometeus Eudora. Nice to meet you."

"Me too."

"Do you want to chat for a bit?"

"Actually, yes, I don't have anything to do either."

Selkis took both of them out of the infirmary. The pair sat on the benches in front of the school. Prometeus talked about himself. Since he dies constantly, he ages slower than normal. While his classmates are 18, he is 25. Prometeus talked to Magni about how awful it is to die every day. It was like an endless torment. Again and again, non-stop, every day. At first, he was afraid of dying. Over time, dying became a normal thing for him. What bothered him wasn't dying, but feeling the pain completely every time and not knowing when he would die. After a while, he started to like the pain because it was the only thing that made him feel alive. Magni felt sorry for Prometeus after hearing this. He couldn't fathom the pain he was going through. How much pain did dying cause? He hoped he would never have to find out. After their deep conversation, it was time for class. When Magni returned to the classroom, he told Hecate not to worry and recounted the conversation he had with Prometeus. A sense of relief washed over Hecate. The incident in the garden had scared her a lot. Their current lesson was health. Selkis entered the classroom.
