Chapter 3 - Suffering

Jun gasped as his vision and senses came back to him. He inhaled as if he had been deprived of air for a long time, massive amounts of sweat trickling down every inch of his bare body as life came back to his eyes.

Yet when he tried to move again, he found himself restricted. Jun froze for a moment. He looked around.

But soon, an extremely disgusting feeling washed over him as he… remembered his death! That short moment of experiencing death filled him with so much dread and nausea that he couldn't help but lurch as vomit came into his mouth.

He puked a bucket worth of vomit, a short feeling of relief and weakness washing over him as the cold wind helped counter his risen body temperatures, added with the sweat.

But soon Jun experienced a deja vu— he felt restrained.

He was tied with ropes! He was back in the same position he found himself when he first woke up.

"…Grrr!"

The sound of growls sounded as Jun froze. He realised, it was a mistake vomiting. The sound of puking his gut out had done something very wrong.

The three Goblins were all alive and intact! And all… were looking at Jun!

The highest level Goblin, which was of Level 7, crouched for a moment before grabbing hold of its weapon… the rusty cleave blade!

Jun's face twisted in fury as he remembered how much trouble the rusty cleave gave him. To imagine it in the hands of its original owner, who was familiar with its usage, and may or may not be aware of its effect— made Jun shiver a little.

He had no time to care about how he traveled back in time. Neither about a moment to think whether this was real or not. But one thing was true, he had to survive right now or die again!

But strangely, enough time had passed, but neither parties had made a move. The Goblins held their respective weapons, standing still next to Jun's belongings.

Jun had already summoned the Blade, and had cut the ropes tying his hands but held them together by himself to deceive the Goblins. But such a situation gave him a strange feeling.

Soon, about ten minutes later, the three Goblins started cackling whilst making ugly faces. Such a scene made Jun incredibly irritated, not to add to the fact that the laughter of the Goblins were comparable to screeching metal.

But soon… Jun's hairs stood upright. Incredible dread filled him… a dread familiar to him.

He looked at the middle, most biggest entrance to the cave room out of the three entrances— where Jun realised that was where he had died.

His face dropped in terror, he had realised just how big of a mistake he had made again by wasting time.

Jun thought that big goblin had come only due to the commotion made by him whilst fighting the Goblin brothers.

But turns out, he was wrong all this time. The big goblin was inevitably going to come to this room, no matter what happens unless a miracle occurs.

A small white box of text appeared amongst the darkness of the big entrance, flashing in a height of at least four meters, slightly below the entrance's size.

[King of Goblins. Low Common Baron]

'God damnit.'

And there came an extremely large, lightly green coloured monstrous humanoid wearing an oversized golden crown, holding a black wooden hammer.

It wore a patchwork of black, ancient looking plate armour. Its lower part was only covered by a giant lioncloth, its design extravagant but its condition very poor.

It had four tusks, with red, perverted eyes that looked everywhere, changing in emotions every few seconds.

This was the King of Goblins. The being that had previously killed Jun without any effort.

Jun had to nearly fully twist his neck to even see the head of this muscular monster. Muscles bulged under the armour, filling Jun with a sense of incoming danger.

Soon, the King of Goblins had come to the centre of the room. All of the Goblin brothers groveled on the ground in fear, shivering as the gaze of the King of Goblins swept past each of them.

When the King of Goblins' gaze landed on Jun, it froze in the moment. Its eyes made a strange expression, filled with an indescribable emotion.

Jun jolted, his body quivering just by the sheer presence of the monster. It truly deserved calling itself a King of a monster species, as it looked like reality itself bent around it.

In a few seconds, madness suddenly filled the eyes of the King of Goblins. Jun felt an immediate sense of imminent threat. He wanted to move— but he realised he couldn't. He had frozen in fear!

The King of Goblins suddenly roared— its deafening voice completely shaking the room as rocks fell from the ceiling one after another.

The Goblins in the ground dropped unconscious, bleeding from their orifices.

Jun barely held on. He somehow kept his consciousness— but the pain of such an experience was immense.

He felt intense ringing in his ears as he felt blood trickle down rapidly from them. His nose bled, and he spat out mouthful of bloods. His eyes were completely bloodshot, ond more pressure and they may start profusely bleeding.

As he faced against the King of Goblins, he couldn't even do anything but quiver in the grounds.

The King of Goblins growled loudly as it lifted the enormous wooden hammer in its right hand, and in two breaths— brought it down to Jun.

The last thing Jun could only see, again— was a black something filling his field of view, followed by complete darkness and loss of his senses. He felt like every air in his lungs were torn away from him.

A bell resounded in his mind, followed by a mental image of a white screen appearing in his mind.

[You've died.]

[Resuming Cycle 2…]

Jun drifted in a void, soon after followed by a bright light— where he gasped for air once more as the disgusting feeling of death filled him again.

***

Jun had died a total of three times.

The deaths in Cycle 2 and Cycle 3 had to do with the experience of death, resurrection and the following disgusting feeling of it followed by nausea.

In both cycles he couldn't keep himself from puking, resulting in the Goblins noticing him and standing in gaurd again.

But he didn't do the same mistake as the 1st Cycle— in Cycle 2 he quickly taunted the Goblins, whilst freeing himself from the ropes in his hands.

In this cycle, it was the lowest level Goblin that took in heart Jun's taunt and lunged at him in fury, preparing to swing its club.

Jun was disappointed it wasn't the highest level goblin, but truth be told that Goblin was really smart and Jun's taunt was too blunt. Fortunately, the lowest level Goblin was dumb enough to fall for it.

In an instant, utilising the seven inch Blade, Jun was able to dispose of the Goblin by tripping it, and stabbing it in its neck.

He freed his feet as he stood upright, seeing the remaining two Goblins.

It was a tiring and arduous fight, dodging the fast swinging cleave blade and distracting the middle levelled goblin.

But in a decisive moment, Jun wss able to make the Cleave Goblin actually graze the other one, resulting in the rapid infection and weakness of the injured Goblin.

Jun was able to dispose of that goblin, thankfully due to the weakness caused by the infection. He thought for a moment on whether something was infused in the cleave blade, because of the rapid speed it caused an infection. But he quickly disposed of it as he prepared against the remaining Goblin.

But such a fight was even more tiring. Turns out, the other two Goblins were dragging down the abilities of this one. It used taunts, with a rapid speed that Jun could barely match. It was definitely not a good leader, but it was a great fighter nonetheless.

And… that was how he had died in Cycle 3. He realised he was outmatched, both in power and experience, as at a moment the cleave blade literally lopped off his left hand, a rapid infection taking in place.

Jun couldn't even groan in pain, as he heard a monstrous growl sound behind the highest level goblin, followed by again something black covering his field of view, and then complete darkness.

Cycle 3 was more or less similar

He was able to fight against the need to vomit but was completely unable to, and in the end had to fight against the Goblins once more.

But in this Cycle, he had tried to escape against the Goblins, but each time the highest level Goblin blocked his way, where Jun had to engage in a mouse-and-cat chase.

And in the end, he had to die helplessly against the King of Goblins in this Cycle as well.

Cycle 4.

Jun gasped for air once more as life filled his eyes, his entire body profusely sweating as he felt intense heat swell up inside him.

The cold temperatures gave him a moment of relief right before the disgusting feeling came again.

In fury, Jun gritted his teeth as he lurched, the vomit rushing towards his mouth.

The Goblins, at that moment, unaware, were still groaning in confusion and poking against the cup noodles.

A few minutes passed quickly. A massive amount of vomit had accumulated in Jun's mouth.

The rush of the disgusting feeling had passed, but each inch of Jun's body was screaming at him to spit out the mass of filthy liquids in his mouth.

But Jun gritted his teeth once more— preparing for something incredibly vile for him too.

He gulped.

He had just swallowed the vomit!

Jun wanted to puke out everything in his gut when he swallowed the vomit, but he held on as it passed down to his stomach. A salty, sour feeling was left in his mouth as every hair in his body stood on its ends.

But then, suddenly, a white screen appeared in front of him.

[Ten Goblins have been slain. A small burst of random boost to two stats had been provided as reward to this milestone!]

Jun looked at the white flickering screen in shock. He thought of the fact that he had already killed ten of them. He looked on the fact on how quickly this situation was changing his mindset from how he was in Earth.

The white screen flickered once more, the text disappearing. A few seconds later, the texts in the screen appeared once more.

[Power: Negligible

Rank 1 → Rank 2

Mastery: Absent

Rank 1 → Rank 2]

As the text appeared, in a span of few seconds, a sudden explosion sounded in his body as a surge of strength rose in him.

His mind reeled for a moment, his mind suddenly sharpening, replying the moments of combat; and what mistakes were done by him, even if by a miniscule amount. He saw tens of ways to improve on those mistakes, and a sudden change of outcomes rose in his mind.

His muscles bulged subtly, his bones reshaping. He felt sharp pain surge everywhere, until the process finished in calm.

Jun was shocked.

He felt much more powerful than how he was before!
