Chapter 7 - Testament 3

Jun slowly stood up as cranked his neck high to even meet this Hobgoblin, let alone the fact that it was hunched back and yet it was this tall.

Jun didn't have any time to understand how the Ranking of monsters work, mostly due to the fact he was thrown into a chaotic situation from the start.

The green-skinned figure tilted its head, looking Jun head to toe. After which, it broke into a creepy smile that made Jun's bone shiver.

'This thing looks straight like a textbook-perfect demon! How is it just a Hobgoblin?!'

Massive beads of sweat trickled down Jun's forehead as he thought of any, and every way to get out of this situation.

Even though Jun may not know the deeper works of the Ranking Identifications, he could make at least the basics out of it.

He could barely match an Intermediate Goblin, but what he was facing was an entire species above it as well as two ranks above the Goblin!

Obviously he couldn't think of matching this monster amongst monsters!

Minutes passed by, but neither Jun nor the Hobgoblin made a move. It was like these two were in a staring contest, as neither of them made a single blink during this period of time.

But right at the next second, Jun blinked, because his eyes had started to burn. But who would've known it was such a horrible mistake? When he opened his eyes in the next moment…

The massive monster had disappeared in front of Jun!

And in the next moment, Jun's vision suddenly split as if his body had been split into two and either parts were falling in opposite directions…

Jun realised that it wasn't a feeling, he had actually been split into two.

As his vision dimned quickly, his mind felt lethargic as he fell unconscious.

Jun has died once more.

As light filled his vision, Jun jolted awoke, sitting in the same position he had when the Master of the Tunnels had passed by… inside the small space made by the gore containing boxes!

Jun restrained every inch of his body from running right at this moment as the feeling of death washed over him.

It took him a lot of time to calm himself down, the disgusting feeling going away.

Jun sighed. He slowly crawled out of the space once again… but now being aware of his surroundings.

Right in the next moment, he heard a loud growl just a few metres away from him. Jun quickly retreated back into the space, feeling a bit repulsed by the location he was in.

Soon, the loud and deep growl came closer until it stopped right next to the boxes where Jun was hiding behind.

Loud sniffing noises could be heard as the creature growled once more, angrily. After a few minutes had passed, the figure started to walk away, its continuous loud growling growing distant.

Inside the space, Jun was sweating heavily. Moments later, he passed a big sigh, relief washing over him.

He warily crawled out once more, looking around carefully. When it was clear nothing was near him, Jun then finally fully crawled out as he stood on his legs.

He started walking away from the direction at where the monster went, clearly fearful of encountering it once more.

***

'T-This was clearly out of my expectations.'

Jun hid around the corner of th entrance of another cavern. A palpable expression could be seen in his face as he sweated profusely.

Loud cackling and "Kii"s could be heard just a few metres inside the cavern, and the sheer magnitude of the noises were so much it made Jun's heart tremble a little.

He had somehow found his way out of the Storeroom of the Goblins, and luckily on his way out he had not met any other monster.

Many of the pathways led to areas where loud noises could be heard. Jun avoided those pathways and followed pursuit of the paths that were more silent.

All of the structure made Jun think this was more like a giant artificially carved Cave system. But its sheer size looked so huge that trying to imagine it made Jun's mind hurt.

But he had never thought that one path… would've led him to this situation!

What cavern had he just reached? One would call it in human terms… a pub-of-sorts?

But where one would find humans was now instead Goblins, and in place of beverages, one would find… blood!

Jun looked stupefied as he saw dozens of Goblins consume litres of dark red blood from wooden chugs. Such a sight made Jun very horrified.

'T-To think the Goblins of this world eat flesh and drink blood!'

He had this conclusion from the moment he found flesh filled boxes inside the Storeroom, but he hadn't been fully convinced by even that. But this current sight truly made him realise the Goblins of this 'Three Mountains' world were truly horrific.

'But most of them are of the Low rank… I could only see a few Intermediate ones and not a single High rank…'

Considering how the system awarded Jun with milestones, which were actually the main thing that would allow Jun to grow his stats, Jun contemplated a wild thought.

A Massacre! To slaughter every single one of these monsters down to the very last one…

But Jun held it back. He never considered hurting even a fly back on Earth. He had killed those Goblins back then because he was forced onto this world into such a terrible situation right as he woke up, and to survive, he had to have killed them!

But then, cold fury rose in Jun's eyes as his face turned blank with emotions. What he saw next in the distant made his blood boil with fury.

A white silhouette rose in the distant, lifeless. Surrounded by it were dancing ugly green skins goblins, throwing it back and forth.

It was human girl. But she wasn't alive.

No life could be seen in the eyes, and the skin was gray. She was naked, and in many places of her skin slashes and bite marks could be seen. She had brown hair, and it seem a massive portion of her hair was actually torn off, concluding with the fact that she actually had much longer hair.

It seems she had just recently died, and it definitely didn't look like a calm death.

Complex emotions filled Jun's eyes as he stood, watching the spectacle going on in the distance. He realised… that to survive against these fould creatures, one had no choice but to slaughter them.

He was so dazed… that he didn't even notice he wasn't even in cover, being completely visible to the Goblins.

It was only for a few minutes was he able to remain unnoticed… after which one Goblin screamed, grabbing one club on the ground as it charged at Jun.

Yet, no matter what, that Goblin would never reach Jun.

"Splat!"

Right in the next second, a white shimmering object pierced and exploded the neck of the Goblin, decapitating it as its head rolled on the ground, its expression frozen in rage.

The white object disappeared, now being held by Jun in his right hand.

The Goblins at this point had completely stopped their bloody party. They all glanced over at Jun for a moment, right before madness and fury filled their eyes, followed by a deafening collective roar that made the entire cavern tremble.

Jun glanced at the distance, on the lifeless corpse of the young girl, her lifeless eyes reflecting the silhouette of Jun in the distance.

Jun smiled bitterly. He really had to go for lengths in order to barely survive this place.

In the next moment as the first wave of goblins jumped at him, his expression was instantly replaced by coldness.

"It's time for slaughter."
