Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Nohara Misae

Fortunately, there was still one green treasure chest waiting for him to open.

'Open the last green treasure chest.'

[Ding! Congratulations to the host for acquiring Branded Sports Shoes * 1 (Adaptive Size).]

The reward from the second green treasure chest once again touched upon Kobayashi Itsuki's blind spot of knowledge.

He didn't understand the brands of this world, and even after searching the memories of the original body he replaced, there wasn't much relevant content.

Looking at the pair of branded sports shoes in his hand, he had no idea what their value was.

Fortunately, with the first green treasure chest as a baseline, this item drawn was still within an acceptable range.

At least it was much more practical than Jidori Chicken Breast; its main feature was utility.

After opening all the treasure chests, Kobayashi Itsuki roughly estimated that the total value of all the items combined was about 200,000 yen.

However, aside from cash, there weren't many items that could be easily converted into money.

It merely saved him a lot of living expenses.

"As expected, blue treasure chests yield better items. I need to work even harder!"

The number of green treasure chests is currently too small, and it's impossible to earn significant money relying on low-level treasure chests; at most, they can ease his living pressure.

However, among the many items opened, quite a few were suitable as gifts for the children at the Kindergarten.

He believed it would be much easier to increase the children's favorability.

Just imagine, if there were Seventy-something green treasure chests, how delightful that would be.

"Keep up the good work; time to get serious about writing!"

After tidying up the miscellaneous items, Kobayashi Itsuki took out his manuscript, made a cup of coffee, and resumed his great career as a plagiarist.

The room gradually quieted, with only the "rustling" sound of pen on paper.

Today's Income: 102,000 yen.

Today's Expenses: 0 yen.

Debt: 36.32 million yen.

Balance: 122,639 yen.

The next day.

Yesterday, his savings officially broke through 100,000.

This allowed Kobayashi Itsuki, who knew about the one million repayment amount, to breathe a sigh of relief.

See? One-tenth of the amount was already taken care of.

Not only that, but from three o'clock yesterday afternoon, Kobayashi Itsuki had been diligently writing.

He didn't stop until midnight to rest.

After such a long period of hard work, the harvest was equally immense.

Chapter One was finished, and Chapter Two was half-written, about three thousand characters, which truly made Kobayashi Itsuki's wrist stiff.

He hadn't experienced such frequent writing since the last day of summer vacation when he was a student.

Although it was hard work, seeing his previous life's works gradually appear in this world filled him with a sense of accomplishment.

"Today, I also need to work hard and get more green treasure chests."

After a simple breakfast of canned Eight Treasures Porridge and a quick wash-up, Kobayashi Itsuki thought for a moment, put on his new shoes, and rummaged through his house for a shoulder bag. He packed his manuscript and some small gifts he had gotten from opening chests yesterday. Then, at the same time as yesterday, he left the house.

He arrived at the Kindergarten unhurriedly.

Takakura Bunta, just like yesterday, stood at the school gate, having just sent off the kindergarten bus.

"Good morning, Principal, have you had breakfast yet?"

"Not yet, Teacher Kobayashi. You're very early today too."

Takakura Bunta said with a chuckle. Hearing that he hadn't eaten breakfast, Kobayashi Itsuki's eyes lit up. He took two steps forward, pulled out a convenience store sandwich from his shoulder bag, and without a word, put it into the other's hand.

"If you don't mind, I bought a sandwich, so please have it, Principal."

"I'm going to clean up now."

With that, Kobayashi Itsuki dashed into the Kindergarten, not giving the other party a chance to argue.

Takakura Bunta looked at the sandwich in his hand, still not having fully processed what happened, and Kobayashi Itsuki was already gone.

"Teacher Kobayashi is so proactive, it's really quite embarrassing."

After bidding farewell to Takakura Bunta, Kobayashi Itsuki quickly got busy.

It wasn't easy to gain favorability in the adult world; the sandwich just now was merely a casual gesture.

Kobayashi Itsuki had opened quite a few snacks and treats yesterday, so giving them to others was no big deal.

The main thing was to work hard and show his admirable qualities.

After being busy for a while, by half past eight, just like yesterday, all the children had arrived.

However, when they got off the bus, Kobayashi Itsuki didn't see Shin-chan.

He didn't know if he was absent or overslept.

"Now I can write in peace again."

The school bell rang. Kobayashi Itsuki cleaned the yard, his "classroom," and was about to close the Kindergarten gate to go back and write.

"Wait!"

"Excuse me, wait a moment!"

Just as Kobayashi Itsuki was about to close the gate, he suddenly heard a hurried shout.

Kobayashi Itsuki looked in the direction of the sound and saw a bicycle swaying from side to side, rushing towards the Kindergarten.

On the bicycle, a woman with permed curly hair and simple clothes was standing up, pedaling furiously with a somewhat "fierce" expression.

Looking at her red-faced, "fierce" appearance, Kobayashi Itsuki's mouth twitched, and he instinctively took a step back.

'What the hell is this?'

In that moment of distraction, the other party sharply turned the handlebars, and the bicycle, with a graceful drift, directly rushed through the still-open gate.

Then, before Kobayashi Itsuki could speak, the woman on the bike put one foot down, grabbed a still drowsy Shin-chan from the back seat, and dashed towards the Sunflower Class.

'Is that... Misae?'

Seeing Shin-chan, Kobayashi Itsuki suddenly understood.

Thinking of her breathless and fierce appearance, Kobayashi Itsuki suddenly chuckled.

His mind immediately recalled the incredibly steep uphill road from Shin-chan's house to the Kindergarten.

Looking at Misae, she probably rode all the way up in one go.

This was something that only existed in gag anime; otherwise, such a steep uphill would be exhausting for anyone else.

Just as he picked up the bicycle that had fallen to the ground, the door of the Kindergarten classroom opened, and Nohara Misae backed out, apologizing repeatedly.

Turning to close the door, Misae took a breath, wiped her forehead, and looked relieved.

However, she turned her head and saw Kobayashi Itsuki standing by the bicycle. Without resting, she quickly jogged over.

"I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry."

Misae came over and apologized to Kobayashi Itsuki profusely.

Seeing her apologetic expression, Kobayashi Itsuki's heart stirred. Wasn't this another target for treasure chests delivering themselves to his doorstep?

"Madam, you wouldn't want..." Kobayashi Itsuki shook off the messy thoughts in his mind and said with a gentle smile,

"It's alright, it's no trouble at all."

"By the way, I'm Kobayashi Itsuki, the new Physical Education Teacher at the Kindergarten. You're Shin-chan's mother, right?"
